About Nat's wanting to be brought across and Nick's unwillingness to bring her into his Hell. *Flashback* "I won't do it Natalie." Nick was pacing behind the sofa. The pain on his face was clear. This was ripping him apart. "I cannot condemn you to this." "Then what choice do I have, Nick?" unshed tears chocking Nat's voice, "I can't live like this anymore." She stood from the sofa and picked up her keys off the table. "Nat wait..." "I have been. And I'm sick of waiting." Natalie turned and went out the door. *End Flashback* Still I remember Things I never meant Memories surround me Won't let me forget Damn his perfect Vampire memory! I was so wrong The secret's not worth keeping I had no faith That you would still believe "She had enough faith. I should have." Blood tears blurred Nick's vision. "She was the only one who ever believed in me." He lovingly caressed the velvet petals of the red rose in his hand. No, now My heart's in your keeping Here I am Missin' you (Missing you) Kissing the rose, he then laid it atop the mahogany casket. *Flashback* The phone rang in Nick's loft as he came down the stairs. He didn't sleep well, he kept waiting for Nat to come back. "Knight," "Nick, it's Tracey. I'm on my way over. We need to talk." Something was wrong. Nick could tell by the tone in his partner's voice. "What is it Trace? Can't it wait until shift starts?" Running his hand through his hair. He didn't feel like company right now. "No Nick it can't. I'll be there in 5 minutes. Just let me up." The phone line went dead in his ear. He went to the refrigerator to get some fortification for his meeting with Tracey. Nick disabled the alarm so that Tracey could let herself in. He heard the lift motor engage, and heard the erratic beat of Tracey's heart. Nick was not prepared for the way Tracey looked. "What's wrong?" She looked as if she had been crying for hours. "I hate being the one to do this." Tears were rolling freely off her chin, "I was called in early. There had been a pile up on the Don. I was assigned to go get witness statements..." Nick grabbed Tracey by the shoulders, "Tell me..." Gold flecked his eyes, but he didn't care. Tracey was shaking now. Sobbing, she told Nick the most painful thing she would ever say, "There was nothing left of the car. I saw it! I saw the EMT's extract her from the wreck." *End Flashback* *Flashback* That was four days ago. Nick hadn't slept or fed since. He locked himself in the loft after he went and took care of Natalie's things. He gave Syd to Grace, and donated the rest. He laid in his bed, alone except for Nat's pillow. Fear in the dark Stares from my wall Your eyes in your picture Won't let me go If I could remember How you felt the pain The king of pretenders Alone in shame *End Flashback* Nick walked back to the Caddy. He couldn't watch them lower Nat into the ground. He would go home and decide what to do next. I was so wrong The secret's not worth keeping I had no faith That you would still believe No, now My heart's in your keeping Here, I am, oh here I am By the time he got to the loft he knew what he had to do. He went up stairs, showered, put on his dark red silk shirt, and black jeans. He then returned to his kitchen, poured himself a glass of uncut blood. Settling down at the dining table he wrote a letter leaving everything he had to Tracey Vetter and instructions on how Tracey could find Feliks. Nick could feel the sun starting to rise. He walked over to the CD player and loaded it with his and Nat's favorite music. It wouldn't be long now. Grabbing the remote Nick opened all of the steel shutters and let in the Toronto morning. (Missin' you) Missing you Oh I'm (missing you) You were there, now I'm here You gave much more than I did I gave what I had to give If I could, you know I would I'd make it up to you He took his last drink. As the sun consumed him his glass shattered on the floor. Instead I'm (missin' you) In the place you used to be You were lying next to me Oh I'm missing you Oh I'm missing you
