ã2004 Hidden III-Temptation By: Cheryl Pillsbury The sun slowly sat into the horizon over the ocean, leaving shades of pink with a soft white glow accenting the sky. The water appeared like crystal and glistening from the moonlight. The smooth waves from the motion of the ship; gliding along the water. Soft piano music in the background playing as the ship sails for home. Standing upon the balcony, Nick and Molly dressed in their nightclothes, holding a glass of champagne to toast the ending to a heavenly cruise. They stood, arm-in-arm, and watched the sun slowly vanish into the crystal blue water with a hint of green. They slowly turned embraced each other with affection and a warm kiss. Glowing faces appeared; Nick reached down and lifted Molly upward into his arms. He quietly carried her into their suite and laid her upon the bed. Nick slowly removed his shirt and lied halfway upon her. She reached up and wrapped her arms around his neck as he wrapped one arm around her waist and the other slowly stroking her leg. The heat of the night intensified their passion and made love by candlelight. The gentle breeze from the ocean filled the room with the soothing scents of ocean air. The warm night passed slowly, and the sun shined into the room. It gently touched Nick's tanned face and woke him up to the glowing smile upon Molly's face. He gently stroked her hair and smiled. Molly woke to his touch and his boyish grin. "Morning," Nick replied. "Morning; you okay?" Molly queried. "I think so." Nick said, sighing. "What's wrong?" Molly asked. "These weeks went by so fast." Nick said, sadly. Molly exhaled, "Yes, they did. We can do it again." "True; gift time," Nick replied, smiling. "Okay." Molly agreed. They each pulled out a black velvet box and slightly laughed at the identical thought. Molly looked as Nick opened the box. Inside, a gold cross with a chip diamond, at the top upon a gold chain. Molly, teary-eyed, gazed upon it. Nick removed it and carefully placed it around her neck with a gentle kiss upon her forehead. Molly, slightly nervous, opened her box and Nick displayed shock. She looked into his eyes, and then removed it. Molly gently held it in her hand, a gold cross for Nick to wear. Never, in his life, did he thought, it would be possible to wear it and upon his bare skin. She carefully placed it around his neck and Nick felt nervous and scared. And yet, he touched it, felt it, and rubbed it against his chest. He smiled and felt totally at ease. He kissed her warmly and stroked her soft cheek. "You okay?" Molly inquired. "Yeah, it's been so long since I have worn, I never thought I would again." Nick told her. "Always, as I will." Molly said, proudly. Nick inhaled, "I can't believe the happiness I have been given." "You are a good man, and you have earned and deserve it." Molly expressed warmly. "I love you." Nick said, grinning. "I love you, too." Molly replied, happily. "Time to eat," Nick said, eagerly. Molly smiled, "Okay, desert first then breakfast." "What?" Nick inquired, stunned. "Are you saying no?" Molly asked. Nick gasped, "No way," They lay back upon the bed and made love for the morning. Molly blew out the candles and they enjoyed the last of the trip. However, back at Nick's loft. Jamie woke up to a sleeping LaCroix by her side. She gently touched his red lips and gazed upon his face. He woke to her smile and sighed quietly. "Hello," LaCroix replied. Jamie smiled, "Hi." "What troubles you?" LaCroix asked. "I'm not sure." Jamie answered. "The Final Joining approaching," LaCroix suggested. Jamie sighed, "Partly," "The other half?" LaCroix inquired. "Enforcers," Jamie answered. "They won't trouble you any further; I will make sure of that." LaCroix told her. "I know, and I trust you." Jamie replied. "What then?" LaCroix inquired. Jamie exhaled, "I'm not sure, something doesn't feel right." "I'm here." LaCroix said. "True. Let's get the place ready, they will be home soon." Jamie suggested. LaCroix smiled, "True," "I'm going to shower." Jamie told him. "Shower?" LaCroix queried. "Yeah, come on." Jamie requested. "But…" LaCroix started. "Nicholas said you must live as a human. This is part of it." Jamie explained. LaCroix smiled, "As he would say, lead on." "Come on." Jamie replied, seductively. Jamie stood and turned slightly. She extended her hand to LaCroix. He slowly stood up and followed her into the bathroom. She leaned over and fixed the water. Jamie reached up and slowly removed LaCroix's shirt as he removed her nightgown. Jamie reached over and untied his pants and they slowly fell to the floor. LaCroix grinned and took Jamie's hand stepped into the shower. LaCroix hesitated at first, but as Jamie massaged his chest, she slowly placed his back into the water. He slowly reached down and turned her about. He lifted her upward and kissed her affectionately. They, for the first time, made love in the shower. LaCroix slightly laughed a real laugh of happiness as Jamie shed a tear or two. Unaware to them, a knock at the door and the guy's came walking in. A few feet behind Michael walked in holding a woman's hand. They stood and stared at him. Michael suddenly felt the third degree approaching. "Who's the lovely lady?" Paul asked. "Paul, Allen, Carla, Kathy, this is Rose Amison." Michael introduced them. "Hello. Wait, shh." Allen suggested. As they stood in silence, they heard the shower running and laughed slightly. "Hello, what's wrong?" Rose queried. "Lucien and Jamie, newlyweds," Paul said. "Oh, I see." Michael replied. "Let's get moving." Allen said. "Paul, start with the coffee." Michael requested. "I'll do that, you guy's fix up the place." Paul replied. Rose walked into the kitchen and made herself comfortable making a hot pot of coffee. The guy's ran around hanging streamers, signs, and balloons. Jamie reached down and turned the water off. They hesitated for a few moments and slowly climbed out then stood upon the rug. Jamie grabbed a towel and slowly dried his body off as he did in return. Jamie noticed he was very quiet. "Penny for your thoughts," Jamie replied. LaCroix hesitated, "I'm…" "It's okay." Jamie told him. "I have always convinced everyone and myself, I'm the evil one. Here I am, chosen for redemption, hopefully, you and this feeling of love and contentment. Why should I deserve such a gift?" LaCroix questioned. "You chose redemption; you were given the change to take it. You have always had a warm heart; it took Nicholas to show you and me to help you feel and express it; as well as Nicholas." Jamie answered. "True," LaCroix replied, sighing. "Accept and be happy." Jamie said. LaCroix exhaled, "I'll try." "How was the shower?" Jamie asked. "Accelerating." LaCroix answered, smiling. "Would you do it again?" Jamie inquired. "With you, always." LaCroix replied, happily. Jamie inhaled, "Uh-oh." "What?" LaCroix asked. "Inhale." Jamie told him. "Coffee." LaCroix said. Jamie exhaled, "They're here." "Let's go." LaCroix said. "Clothes first." Jamie replied, slightly laughing. LaCroix inhaled, "Ah yes, lead on." LaCroix strolled into his room with Jamie at his side. They slowly got dressed and exited the room. They walked down the hall then the stairs and stood at the bottom step. Amazed by the warm reception of decorations, they stood in silence and looked all around. Paul saw them and waved Allen the rest over to them. "Lucien and Jamie, how was the shower." Paul said. "Interesting." LaCroix said. "That's it." Allen replied. "Ah, very hot." Jamie responded. "Awesome, Lucien, loosing up. Come on, let's finish, they'll be strolling in any second." Paul said. "All right, excuse me." LaCroix said. "I'll help her in the kitchen, she seems a little lost." Jamie suggested. "Her name is Rose." Michael said. "How lovely." LaCroix said. "Yeah, come on." Michael suggested. Jamie joined Rose in the kitchen to help fix the coffee and a tray of mugs. The men finished hanging the streamers. Suddenly, Nick and Molly walked in slightly early and everyone yelled, 'surprise.' They jumped and laughed. They gazed at the room fully decorated and LaCroix by the chair. Nick slowly walked in and stood directly in front of him. They passed glances at first then embraced each other warmly. "LaCroix." Nick said, smiling. LaCroix smiled, "Nicholas." "You're wet." Nick replied. "I just had a shower." LaCroix told him. "You?" Nick queried. "With Jamie." Paul said. "LaCroix." Nick replied, stunned. LaCroix smiled, "Later. Welcome home." "How was the cruise?" Paul asked. "Breathtaking," Nick said. "I agree." Molly said. "Camping?" Nick inquired. "Exhausting." Paul said. "I wonder why." Carla replied. "You animal." Nick suggested. "All of you," Allen said. "Where's Kathy?" Nick inquired. "At home sleeping." Allen told them. "He's worse." Nick said. "True," LaCroix added in. "Touché." Nick said with a grin. LaCroix smiled, "Thank you." "It's late. I have to work in the morning. Hey, Nick, ask Michael about Rose." Paul suggested. Nick inhaled, "Rose." "Later, Buddy, don't forget court." Allen said. "I won't, thank you." Nick said. "Later," Allen replied. "Us too." Michael said. "Rose." Nick said. "Rose Amison, my closest friend, Nick Knight and his lovely bride-to-be, Molly Ebourn." Michael introduced them. "Ah, so you're Nick." Rose said, grinning. Nick puzzled, "Yeah, why?" "Later. Welcome home." Michael said. "Wait up. See you in the morning about ten or so." Paul said firmly. "Okay. Thanks guys." Nick said. "Anytime, Buddy." Paul replied. "Jamie, help me with the coffee. Let the boys talk." Molly suggested. "Boys." Nick said, pouting. Molly and Jamie roamed into the kitchen to finish what they started. Nick pulled LaCroix aside to talk privately. "Shower, Jamie." Nick said. "Yes. She kindly reminded me of your words before you left." LaCroix replied. "Those were?" Nick queried. "Live as a human." LaCroix quoted to him. "True. How was it?" Nick inquired. LaCroix smiled, "Exactly the way you described." "Told you." Nick said, laughing. "And better." LaCroix added. "Whoa." Nick said, stunned. "Never mind. Friday will be the Final Joining Day and I would like you there." LaCroix requested. "Molly?" Nick inquired. "The exchange of blood may upset her." LaCroix told him. "True, okay." Nick said, happily. LaCroix inhaled, "What's that you're wearing?" "Oh sorry, it's a gold cross." Nick told him. "Please<" LaCroix requested. "Rule two; you need to build up your tolerance for this." Nick suggested. LaCroix exhaled, "Later. It's late." "I'll cover it, stay for coffee." Nick replied. "All right," LaCroix said. Nick fixed his shirt to hide the cross and they met the women by the couch. Nick sat close to Molly while Jamie sat upon the arm of the chair next to LaCroix. They shared a few laughs and a warm cup of coffee together before LaCroix and Jamie went upstairs to sleep. Across the city, just over the city line at the FBI building, it was very quiet. Downstairs in the holding cells Kurt and Owen sat together with a wall of bars between them, planning their revenge. The light shined overhead, but not very bright, and two guards just outside the door heavily armed. "Do you remember the plan?" Owen asked. "Oh yeah." Kurt answered. "I'm going to nail his ass. He cost me millions." Owen hissed angrily. "Us." Kurt replied. "Whatever. All right, they're coming for us about nine. When they open the door, I'll walk out, you play dead. That way, he will go in after you then you nail him." Owen instructed him. "Got it." Kurt answered. "Get some sleep." Owen replied. They slowly lied back, and drifted off to sleep and waited for the time to execute their revenge. Back at the loft, the women had gone upstairs to their rooms. Nick and LaCroix sat upon the couch with a glass of wine and a glass of blood for LaCroix. Nick turned slightly to face him with a slight grin. LaCroix felt that uneasy feeling coming across his senses once again. "LaCroix." Nick said. "No." LaCroix replied. Nick inhaled, "No, what?" "No. I will not tell you the details of the shower." LaCroix told him. "I already know." Nick replied, smiling. "How?" LaCroix asked. "She told Molly and I happened to over hear. But, we need to talk about the journey." Nick told him. "Journey?" LaCroix inquired, blushing. "Do's and don'ts." Nick said. "Yes, well. Jamie said live as a human." LaCroix said. "Yeah, stay with the blood you have been using. Try to cut it back little by little. No flying or biting. No biting period, no matter what happens." Nick instructed him. "Nicholas." LaCroix replied. "Are you serious?" Nick asked. "Yes." LaCroix answered. "Well?" Nick inquired. LaCroix exhaled, "I will try." "That's all I ask." Nick said. "Time to rest." LaCroix said, sighing. Nick and LaCroix retired upstairs in their separate rooms with the woman they each love. LaCroix closed his door and Nick slowly entered his; Molly all tucked under a blanket naked with a smile to greet him. Nick approached the bed slowly stripped down and crawled under the blanket with Molly. He leaned over kissed her gently as they lied back and made love for the night. The last of the night hours passed into mid-morning. The sunlight shined into Nick and Molly's room and slowly traveled upward and shined into Nick's eyes. He peeked out then closed them. He sat up away from the sun and glanced over to Molly. He lightly kissed the tip of her nose and woke up from the tickle. "Hi." Molly said. "Hi. Reality time." Nick replied, sadly. Molly pouted, "So soon." "Yeah. Paul and Allen will be here soon. Its check in day." Nick told her. "That will be rough." Molly said. Nick exhaled, "Yeah, part of the job." "True," Nick said. "You?" "Work, but later." Molly told him. "Okay. I'll shower and see you tonight." Nick replied. "Okay, church in the morning. Reverend Mathews wants to meet you." Molly briefed him. "Okay; love you." Nick said, warmly. Molly smiled, "Love you, too." Nick reached over giving her a small kiss and walked quickly into the bathroom. A few moments passed, a flush, and then the shower ran. He stepped in to clean up and rinsed out his golden hair. He leaned over and turned the water off. He stepped out dried off and wrapped the towel around his waist. He walked into his room and grabbed some casual clothes for the day. Molly sat up and looked at him as he tossed them onto the bed. "What's wrong?" Nick asked. "Not fair." Molly replied, pouting. "Oh sorry. I'll owe you one." Nick said, warmly. "Big one?" Molly replied, grinning. Nick smiled, "Okay." Nick dropped his towel and quickly dressed for the day as Molly looked on. He smiled, fixed his hair, and walked into the hallway. He walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. A knock came from the door and Paul and Allen walked in. They saw Nick in the kitchen and moved over to the counter. "We'll eat out, my boss is buying." Allen told them. "Cool." Paul said, grinning. "Great. What's the agenda for today?" Nick asked. "We'll eat, go to my office after you two check into yours and plan out court day tomorrow." Allen explained. Paul exhaled, "Cool." "Let's roll." Nick said. They quickly left the loft after Nick grabbed his things. They rode down the elevator to Nick's caddy. Allen climbed into his truck while Nick and Paul climbed into the car. They started their engines and Nick followed Allen to the Golden Griddle for breakfast. They each found a spot to park climbed out and walked inside to enjoy their hot meal. Scott had finished cleaning the bar after a long night of feeding the community when suddenly he felt a familiar, but strong sensation fill his senses. He slowly turned around their stood Sir Munzo and Tian. He placed the towel down and leaned upon the bar. "Hello. What part of forbidden; you cannot understand?" Scott asked. "I will speak, he's forbidden, as you put it." Tian said. "Whatever. He's not here." Scott told them. Tian exhaled, "I know." "Go on." Scott suggested. "He has joined with Jamie?" Tian inquired. "He has." Scott said. "I see. He has severed his ties to us. He will no longer hear from us, unless something changes in the fold that affects him directly." Tian expressed firmly. "Okay." Scott said. "Nicholas has been closed in our books and no one will disturb him ever." Tian told him. "Okay. Is that it?" Scott said, sighing. "What of you?" Tian asked. "Me?" Scott queried. "Yes." Tian replied. "I live and work here and care for LaCroix and Jamie. Protect Nicholas as well." Scott told them. "I see. Thank you for your time. Good day." Tian said. Scott exhaled, "Later," Munzo and Tian quickly vanished as they appeared. Scott shook them off and picked up the towel. He strolled back into LaCroix's room to make sure it is ready for his and Jamie's return. LaCroix and Jamie entered the club from the front door. They walked down the stairs and stood by the bar. LaCroix felt an uneasy disturbance in the room chose to ignore it and escorted Jamie to their room. As the door opened, they saw Scott finished filling up the fridge for LaCroix. Scott felt their presence and turned to face them. He observed LaCroix and the slight change in him. "What's wrong?" LaCroix asked. "You actually have slight color in your skin. You seem calmer." Scott answered. "Really?" LaCroix queried. "Look and see." Scott suggested. LaCroix slowly approached the mirror still amazed by his image, but saw what Scott told him. His face has taken on some skin tone coloring. He slowly touched his face and looked at Jamie with a slight grin. Jamie walked up to him as Scott exited the room. She stroked his cheek and they kissed affectionately. "You prepare for rest. I must speak with Scott about the Final Joining Day." LaCroix said. "Splendid. I'll be waiting." Jamie expressed, lovingly. "I'll hurry." LaCroix told her. LaCroix stepped around her and left the room. He walked down the few stairs and over to the bar where Scott stared into space. LaCroix stood in front of him to draw his attention. "Yes, LaCroix?" Scott inquired. "What troubles you?" LaCroix asked. "Enforcers," Scott told him. "They were here?" LaCroix inquired. Scott exhaled, "Yes," "And?" LaCroix queried. "Nicholas is a closed book." Scott told him. "Really, go on." LaCroix requested. "You will not be disturbed unless it's directly at you." Scott added. LaCroix exhaled, "I see." "They asked where I'm remaining." Scott replied. "And?" LaCroix queried. "Here; if that's all right with you and the rest." Scott said. "You're welcomed here with the understanding of our journey." LaCroix told him "Always," Scott replied, smiling. "Good, the Final Joining Ceremony. You will be ready?" LaCroix inquired. "Yes, and Nicholas," Scott replied. "Yes, he will be there." LaCroix said. "All right; you know what must be done?" Scott questioned. "Yes." LaCroix answered. "Rest; I will see you tonight." Scott said. "Night, Scott." LaCroix said. "Night, LaCroix." Scott replied in return. LaCroix left the bar and strolled back to Jamie. As he entered the room, Jamie was lying in bed under a sheet naked. LaCroix closed the door and lied along the edge of the bed with a grin. "Scott will prepare for the joining." LaCroix explained. "I can't wait." Jamie replied, grinning. "What's this?" LaCroix asked, happily. "You asked me to be ready for you. Are you not pleased?" Jamie inquired. LaCroix exhaled, "Oh yes, fully." "Well then?" Jamie queried, inviting him. LaCroix slowly stood up and removed his clothes. He crawled under the sheet with Jamie. They each blew out the candles and rolled back into each other's arms. They lied back upon the pile of pillows and loved each other. After a long day at the station and the FBI, building Nick drove back to his place and parked the car. He rode up in the elevator and entered his living room. He saw Molly sleeping on the couch; he quietly walked up to the table and put his things and gun safely away. He moved over to Molly, carefully sat on the table and lightly touched her cheek. Molly moved from his touch and woke up to his warm smile. "Hi; you okay?" Nick asked. "Hi. Yes, I'm fine, very tired, but fine." Molly said, smiling. "Oh, my poor, darling; come on sleeping beauty, time for bed." Nick suggested. Molly grinned, "Lead on." Nick stood up and extended his hand to her. Molly slowly rose off the couch following him up the stairs and into the bedroom. The hours slowly passed as the sun rose high over Toronto. The alarm sounded and Molly rolled over to turn it off. She rolled back and saw Nick in a deep peaceful sleep. She hesitated for a few before waking up him up. Molly slowly stroked his chest then his stomach and slowly under the blanket. Nick woke up to her devilish grin. "Morning." Nick said. "Hi. Time to rise." Molly suggested. "Really?" Nick queried. "Yeah, court day." Molly told him. Nick smiled, "I thought…" "I know, but later. I will owe you, a big one." Molly expressed, warmly. "Awesome," Nick replied, grinning. "You shower then me." Molly suggested. Nick sighed, "Okay." Nick stumbled into the bathroom while Molly straightened up the bed. She walked over to the dresser and pulled out her clothes. She walked over to the door, knocked twice, and walked in. Nick slid the shower door open and saw Molly slowly stripping. Nick glanced then grinned. "Is this the big one?" Nick inquired. "Partly," Molly said, seductively. Nick smiled, extending his hand, "Plenty of room," "Move over," Molly requested. Molly carefully climbed in and showered with him. Nick leaned over and turned the water off. They climbed out and he grabbed a towel to dry themselves off. They walked into the bedroom and dressed for the day. Nick led the way down the hall and then the stairs. While Molly started the coffee, Nick picked up his things and his gun into his belt under the jacket. Suddenly, a knock came from the door and Paul walked in with a huge grin upon his face. Nick noticed and felt uneasy what the response would be. "I'll regret this, but what's the grin for?" Nick asked. Paul smiled, "Putting two slime balls in prison day." "Good," Nick agreed, happily. "Carla, too," Paul added. "Enough," Nick replied, exhaling. "Hey, Molly," Paul replied, warmly. "Hi Paul; okay guys, breakfast is ready." Molly told them. "Thanks, love." Nick said. "You two eat, I'm late. See you tonight." Molly explained. "Love you." Nick replied. Molly exhaled, smiling, "Love you, too." Nick and Molly embraced each other with a warm kiss. Molly quickly left the loft and Nick returned to the table to eat with Paul. "You nervous?" Nick asked. "No; you?" Paul queried. "A little, hopefully, there's enough to make it permanent." Nick replied. "Okay, let's roll. We can't be late." Paul said. Nick sighed, "Lead on." Paul led the way with Nick at his side out of the loft and down the elevator. They walked over to Nick's car and he unlocked the doors. They climbed in and he started the engine. Nick backed out and headed for the courthouse. They saw the entrance to the courthouse and drove in. Nick saw a space near the back door and parked. He turned the engine off and hesitated for the moment. Paul noticed and tapped his upper arm. "Hey, man." Paul said. "Sorry, let's go." Nick replied, hesitant. "Nervous?" Paul queried. "Little; men's room first." Nick suggested. Paul sighed, "I agree." They exited the car and Nick locked the doors. They climbed up the stairs and inside. They hesitated a few moments. Back at the FBI building downstairs, a guard walked through the door carrying a gun. He used his key to unlock Owen's cell first then Kurt. He noticed Kurt was not moving. He kept the gun on Owen and checked Kurt. Kurt quickly reached up and wrapped his right hand around his throat. He grabbed the gun with his left and shot the guard directly through the heart. Owen walked in and slapped Kurt on the back. He then grabbed the gun, grinned, and shot Kurt in the head. He quickly ran out of the cell, through the door, and outside. Owen stole a police car and headed for the courthouse. He slowly parked it along the curb and met up with the people that were waiting for him. "What's going down?" Owen questioned. "I'm Kenny, he's Daryl, and that's Megan. They just arrived and went into the men's room." Kenny informed him. "Got another car?" Owen inquired. "Yeah, next to the caddy." Kenny answered. "Good. Megan, you lore Knight out to his car alone. We will do the rest." Owen ordered. Megan exhaled, "Okay." "Go get him and you two take your places by the car." Kenny said. "Let's go." Owen said. "Where will you be?" Kenny asked. "Where he can't see me." Owen replied. They quickly ran to their places and Megan slowly walked up the stairs and stood near the men's room. Paul and Nick exited the bathroom and started down the hall. Nick suddenly stopped and began to frisk his pockets; Paul noticed and turned to face him. "What's wrong?" Paul asked. "I forgot the file. I'll be right back." Nick said. "I'll wait here, hurry up." Paul suggested. Megan overheard his words and quickly ran outside. She told Daryl what she heard and they hid from sight. Nick ran down the stairs and unlocked his car. He reached into the back seat and grabbed the file. As he stood up, he felt a gun directly into his back. The man reached under, and removed Nick's gun and tossed it into the car. He grabbed the file and handed it to Ken. Daryl and Megan stood off to the side of Owen. "Hey Knight, remember me?" Owen inquired. "Yeah, sadly," Nick replied. "Let's go pretty boy. Ken." Owen instructed. "Come on." Kenny said. "Daryl and Megan, you did a great job." Owen replied. Owen took careful aim and shot them both in the head. He ran for the car Ken brought around. He climbed in with Nick and his gun aimed into his side. They quickly drove off and vanished from sight. Allen saw Paul leaning up against the wall staring at the back door and bored. Allen quietly approached him and tapped his arm. "Hey," Paul replied. "The wall falling?" Allen asked. "Waiting for Nick; he ran outside for the file." Paul told him. Suddenly, Allen's cell phone rang and he reached into his pocket and answered it. "Straton. What? Damn, code red." Allen shouted. "What happened?" Paul asked. "Owen escaped; Kurt and the guard are dead." Allen said. Paul gasped, terrified, "Nick." "Let's go." Allen said. They ran outside and saw the two dead bodies, the caddy, but no Nick. They searched all over. Paul saw Nick's gun in the back seat, but no file. "He's gone. Gun's here, but the file is gone." Paul said. "Damn it. Go notify everyone inside, and I'll call the boss." Allen instructed him. "We have to find him." Paul yelled, scared. "We will, get going time's running." Allen said. Allen called into his office and Paul ran inside to find Reese to notify him of the situation. He saw Reese by the door staring at his watch and getting angrier by the minute. "Cap." Paul shouted. "Where in the hell have you been? Where's Knight?" Reese demanded. "Owen escaped, killed Kurt and a guard. He also kidnapped Nick. He's gone." Paul said, upset. "I'll call Kathy to dust the caddy then the station." Reese said. "I'll be outside with Allen. He called the FBI." Paul told him. "Good. Let's go see the scene." Reese suggested. Paul sighed, "There's two dead outside as well." "Four dead in total," Reese said. "Yeah," Paul hissed angrily. Reese exhaled, "Come on." They walked down the corridor and outside. Forensics just arrived and they went to work. Kathy walked up to Reese and stood by his side. "Run down." Kathy said. "Nick's gone." Reese answered. "Oh my, God,' Kathy replied, stunned. "Top priority." Reese ordered. "Hey, guys." Allen said. "What happened?" Reese asked. "Apparently, they planned the escaped. Owen killed the guard and Kurt. He had men waiting for him here. Took Nick and killed them off." Allen briefed them. Reese exhaled, "Great," "Kathy, we found these." Ryan said. Ryan handed her two plastic bags, one had a watch and the other a note. Kathy examined and showed them to Paul. "Paul, recognize this?" Kathy asked. "Nick's watch," Paul told her. Ryan inhaled, "Reese, here's this." "A note, 'Drop it, or I drop him.'" Reese quoted to them. "Damn." Allen said. "Here, you take the note; your men are more equipped to work that." Kathy said. "I'll pass it on." Allen replied. "Reese, Nick's gun." Ryan said. "Thanks." Reese said. "I'll tow the car to the lab, and I'll take the gun and dust it." Kathy replied. "Becareful with it," Paul suggested. "I will. I'll call you." Kathy said. "Okay, station." Reese instructed everyone. "Allen, you coming?" Paul asked. "Hell yeah; oh man," Allen said, firmly. "What?" Paul asked. "Lucien and Molly," Allen whispered. "Damn," Paul hissed in anger. "Station first." Reese said. Paul and Allen climbed into Allen's truck and followed Reese back to the station. They parked along the curb and turned the engines off. They climbed out and ran inside to Reese's office. Paul closed the door behind them and quickly sat down around the desk. "What went wrong Allen?" Reese asked. "I don't know our lab boys are still working on it like yours." Allen told him. Suddenly, Reese's phone rang; he reached over hit the switch for the speakerphone and cleared his throat. "Captain Reese." Reese announced. "Hello people. It's simple, drop the case, or I'll drop him." Owen said. "How do I know that you didn't drop him already?" Reese asked. "Hey, Knight, say hello." Owen instructed him. "Don't do it." Nick shouted. "Now, he will continue to breathe if you drop it and give me what I want." Owen said. Paul exhaled, "Nick." "Quiet. Owen, what do you want?" Reese asked. "Let's see, how about five million dollars in unmarked bills, and an unmarked car. You'll get him back when I'm safe." Owen ordered. "How about I meet you at the border and we trade. My guys won't deal your way." Allen said. "I'll call you." Owen said. "What are you doing?" Paul asked. "If we do it his way, he could drive anywhere drop him and we'll never find him. My way, I'm there and he comes home safe, but Owen goes down." Allen said, firmly. "Sorry," Paul replied. "We're both close to him, you more, but we need clear heads to save him." Allen said. "Okay." Paul replied. "No problem. Let's go see Lucien." Allen said, sadly. "He'll flip." Paul replied. "I know. Let's go." Allen replied. "Keep me posted." Reese said. "Call if you have anything." Paul requested. "I will, you do the same." Reese said. Allen and Paul quickly left the office walked out of the building. They ran down the stairs to Allen's truck. He unlocked the doors and they climbed in. Allen started the engine and headed for the Raven. He pulled up along the curb and turned the engine off. They climbed out and quickly entered the club. They walked down the stairs and stood by the bar looking for LaCroix. Scott quietly appeared from the back room. "Hello, Paul, Allen," Scott said. "Hey, where's Lucien?" Allen asked. "Upstairs." Scott answered. "We need to see him." Paul said, sadly. "And you need to hear it too. Lucien will need you and Jamie." Allen said. "What's happened?" Scott asked. "Get LaCroix first." Paul said. "All right," Scott said. Scott left them at the bar walked into the backroom and up the few stairs. He knocked lightly and LaCroix answered. "Scott." LaCroix uttered. "Paul and Allen are here to see you. Something's happened." Scott told him. "All right," LaCroix replied. LaCroix followed Scott back to the bar and he stood by Paul's side. LaCroix felt uneasiness in their manner. "Where's Nicholas?" LaCroix asked. "That's why we're here." Paul said. "What's happened to Nicholas?" LaCroix asked, further. "Today was court day. Owen escaped from jail." Paul started. LaCroix inhaled, "I see." "He's killed four people this morning and…" Allen said. "And?" LaCroix queried. "He took Nick hostage." Allen said. "What?" LaCroix shouted, terrified. "Nick's been kidnapped. Owen is holding him for five million and a new car to leave the country." Allen briefed him. "What's being done?" LaCroix asked. "We made a deal and we wait." Allen informed him. "Wait, for what?" LaCroix inquired. "For him to accept it," Paul said. "Is he alive?" LaCroix asked. "Yes, we heard him on the phone." Paul replied, upset. "Why can't we just go and get him?" LaCroix asked. "Where? We don't know where he is, and if we do that, he will kill him." Paul explained. '"We must wait to keep him alive." Allen said. "I'm NOT good at waiting." LaCroix hissed angrily. "It's part of life." Paul said. "Oh dear, Molly," LaCroix replied. Paul inhaled, "She's next." "I will tell her, it might be easier for her." LaCroix suggested. "No, she'll flip, like you did." Paul replied. "I'll bring Jamie and Scott." LaCroix said. "Good idea. Paul, let's roll." Allen suggested. "Thank you." LaCroix whispered. "We're very sorry Lucien; we will find him and nail him six feet under." Allen said. "Not far enough, but it will do." LaCroix uttered. Allen squeezed LaCroix's upper arm to assure him Nick will be all right. Paul led the way with Allen close behind him. They walked up the stairs and outside. LaCroix felt his anger building; he picked up a glass from the bar and squeezed it as hard as he could until it shattered in his hand. Scott walked over quickly and removed the pieces of glass then examined his hand. He sliced the palm of his hand and Scott wrapped it up with a towel. "LaCroix, calm down," Scott said. "Someone took Nicholas by force." LaCroix replied. Scott exhaled, "Yes." "My son is missing." LaCroix said, slightly crying. "LaCroix, you need to calm down before you see Molly. She's going to need you to lean on." Scott told him. "I know. These emotions are…" LaCroix replied. Scott exhaled, "Human," "Yes." LaCroix whispered. "Relax, and I'll get Jamie." Scott said. "All right," LaCroix said, teary-eyed. While Scott went to find Jamie, LaCroix leaned upon the bar and tried to calm his anger. He inhaled and exhaled slowly. Jamie came from the backroom and saw the anger, the hurt in his eyes. His body filled with pain and confusion. Jamie lightly touched his forearm, and he jerked it away. He looked at her with his vampire eyes then she smiled with a slight tear in her eye. "Lucien, you need to help them find Nicholas and bring him home to us and Molly." Jamie requested. "I know; I'm sorry." LaCroix replied, numb. LaCroix slowly closed his eyes and made his demon vanish. He opened his eyes gazed into Jamie's and she saw the hurtful tears. She reached up embraced him with every ounce of love she had. LaCroix collapsed into her arms with a slight sniff. "My son," LaCroix whispered, crying. "I know. We'll do this together, and he will be home soon." Jamie replied. LaCroix inhaled, "Let's go see Molly." LaCroix escorted Jamie to the back entrance and stood in the alley. LaCroix took hold of Jamie; they flew to the loft and touched down outside the elevator. They rode up in the elevator and entered into the living room. Molly has not arrived home so Jamie made some coffee while LaCroix leaned against the counter observing her. "Lucien, you all right?" Jamie asked. "Yes, just concerned for Nicholas." LaCroix replied. "We all are. Here, this is for you." Scott said. "Scott." LaCroix said. "When did you last feed?" Scott inquired. LaCroix exhaled, "Fine," "Nicholas said slowly cut down not out. You are still a vampire and you need the blood to live." Scott told him. "You sound like I use to." LaCroix said. "I'm scared, too; Jamie, coffee." Scott replied. LaCroix exhaled, "Uncalled for." "Well?" Scott queried. "True," LaCroix whispered. As Jamie handed Scott his coffee, Molly came walking in and placed her things upon the couch. Molly saw them, but mostly, LaCroix's eyes. She knew something horrible has happened. LaCroix walked up to her while Jamie and Scott remained in the kitchen. "Lucien." Molly said. LaCroix gasped, "Molly." "What's happened? Where's Nick?" Molly asked, scared. "Owen escaped from jail and he kidnapped Nicholas." LaCroix told her. "Oh my, God, Nick." Molly sobbed in his arms. "They will find him." LaCroix said, joining her. Molly exhaled, "Nick." Molly sobbing grabbed hold of LaCroix and cried into his arms. He embraced her to comfort her as a father would. LaCroix carefully escorted Molly to the couch and they sat down. LaCroix gently wiped her tears away and held her hand. "What exactly happened?" Molly questioned. "All we know is Owen escaped, killed four people and took Nicholas at the courthouse." LaCroix said. "Poor Nick, he must be so scared." Molly said. "He's very strong; he will make it home alive." LaCroix replied. "I know." Molly replied, shaking. Suddenly, Nick's phone rang and Molly gestured to LaCroix to answer. He picked up the phone and cleared his throat. "Hello, hello, hello." LaCroix said. No one responded but LaCroix could here someone breathing in the distance. He heard a click then hung up the phone. Paul and Allen just walked in and felt the sadness in the room. Carla walked over to sit with Molly while LaCroix stood by Paul's side. Scott walked over and joined in. "How's Molly?" Paul asked. "Very upset." LaCroix answered. Paul exhaled, "I can understand that." "What do you have?" LaCroix questioned. "Right now, Owen called earlier, we dealt, but no answer as of yet. He's using my cell phone." Allen said. "What's the deal?" LaCroix inquired. "He wants five million unmarked bills and an unmarked car. He wanted to leave Nick at a border." Paul said. "I changed it to I will follow him and trade for Nick, also drop the case against him." Allen explained. "No response?" LaCroix inquired. "Not yet. We cannot do it his way because he could go anywhere, have his stuff, and then kill him. We would never find him." Allen told him. "This is so…" LaCroix started, angrily. "I agree. But we want Nick alive." Paul said. "Jamie and I will stay here with Molly." LaCroix said. "I'll be back and forth." Scott said. "Thank you. What do we do now?" LaCroix queried. Allen exhaled, "Sadly, we wait." "A few moments ago, the phone rang, but no one was there." LaCroix told him. "Did you hear anything?" Allen asked. "Distant breathing," LaCroix answered. "Would you allow the FBI to tap the phone to trace?" Allen asked. "If it's necessary, sure," LaCroix said. "Okay, we'll see and try that. Paul." Allen replied. "I'll stay here." Paul requested. "Early morning," Allen replied. "Here, about nine." Paul said. "Done; Lucien, don't worry, we'll find him. Tell Molly for me." Allen said. "I will." LaCroix replied. Allen exhaled, "Later," "I'll fix the rooms upstairs." Scott said. "Thank you." LaCroix whispered. "I'm going to see Molly." Paul replied. "Be gentle." LaCroix requested. "I will. How are you holding?" Paul asked, concerned. LaCroix exhaled, "I'm a…" "Okay, Lucien, we're all scared, upset. It's only because we love him and we feel insecure because he's not here with his family and friends, protected." Paul replied. "Thank you." LaCroix said. "Let's see Molly and get some sleep. We need clear heads to find him." Paul suggested. "Thank you; you're a good friend to Nick." LaCroix said. "You too, Lucien, we're friends. I like you a lot." Paul told him. "Same here; let's go." LaCroix said, smiling. Paul slowly approached Molly and sat by her side. She looked into his eyes and the pain and anger. Molly reached over and hugged him tightly. "Molly, Molly, we will bring him home." Paul told her. Molly, sniffing her tears back, "Please," "I promise; I will deliver him into your arms." Paul said, strongly. "Thank you." Molly whispered. "We will stay here with you. You need to go upstairs and get some sleep." Paul suggested. "But…" Molly started. "Molly, you've been hit with a trauma, your hurt, confused, and upset. Nick will need you alert and healthy to help him when he comes home." Paul told her. "All right," Molly whispered. Paul and Carla stayed in the back room while LaCroix escorted Molly and Jamie upstairs. Jamie went to their room and LaCroix followed Molly into hers. She walked into the bathroom for a few moments then exited wearing a nightgown. LaCroix had prepared the bed for her and she crawled under the covers. LaCroix sat along the bed and gazed upon Molly's sad eyes. "Would like me to stay until you fall asleep?" LaCroix asked. "I'm not sure I can sleep; I'm use to having him here." Molly said. "I know. Just close your eyes and try to relax. Picture him in your mind." LaCroix suggested. Molly closed her eyes as a tear rolled down her soft cheek. LaCroix lightly touched her forehead and relaxed her mind. Molly slowly fell asleep and LaCroix quietly left the room turning the light off. He entered his room; Jamie sat upon the bed until he returned. She stood up and greeted him. "Lucien," Jamie uttered. "She's asleep." LaCroix said. "It's me, how are you doing?" Jamie asked. "Confused, out of control, angry, pain and frustrated…" LaCroix replied. "I'm sure. You're son is somewhere away from you." Jamie said. LaCroix exhaled, "Yes." "Come on, we need to rest so we can find him." Jamie suggested. "All right," LaCroix whispered, sadly. Jamie aided LaCroix to comfort him and they rested for the night into mid-morning. The hours slowly passed into day. Clear across the city, Nick lying upon a cot in a dark room. He slowly woke up rubbing the back of his head. He looked around as the sun beamed in through a window just under the ceiling. Too high for Nick to reach and see where he was. All he could see were the four walls, a silver bucket in the corner near the cot and a door. He carefully stood up and stretched his muscles. He slowly approached the door to test the doorknob and it swung open which knocked Nick to the floor. Owen walked in closed the door and aimed a 45 magnum at his head. "Hey, Knight." Owen said. "Owen, what do you want?" Nick asked. "You cost me five million bucks." Owen told him. Nick inhaled, "Ransom," "Hell yeah; now, get away from the door." Owen ordered. "Can I use the bathroom at least?" Nick requested. "See that bucket, have a nice day." Owen replied. "I'm hungry." Nick replied. Owen exhaled, "Later," Owen backed out through the door and locked it. Nick stood up and brushed his clothes off. He tossed his jacket onto the cot, and tried the doorknob; locked. He slowly walked around the entire room then sat upon the cot thinking of his family and friends. He then lied back covered his eyes with his forearm upset and scared. However, at the FBI building, the lab continued dusting the cell, and Allen stood by and watched closely. Paul slowly entered through the guard door and saw Allen leaning against the bars of a cell. He quietly approached him and tapped his arm to draw his attention. "Anything?" Paul asked. "Don't know yet." Allen said. "Did he call back?" Paul questioned. "Not yet. How's everybody?" Allen queried. "Edgy," Paul answered. "They're not alone," Allen replied. "I hear you." Paul replied, angrily. "Allen, I'm Sam. Sorry to say, the only prints found were Owen, Kurt, and the guard." Sam informed him. "Damn," Allen said, sighing. "The guard was killed with his gun and so was Kurt." Sam said. "Damn, put a file together. Let's go to Forensics. See what Kathy has. Fax that to the police station. I'll be there later." Allen expressed, concerned. Paul exhaled, "Okay." "Let's go, I need some air." Allen suggested. "Come on." Paul replied. Paul led the way back out the door and outside to Paul's truck. They climbed in and hesitated for a few. "What's up, man?" Paul questioned. "The guard must have let Owen out first then Kurt. He wasn't moving; the guard checked him; grabbed his gun and shot him." Allen explained. "Owen said good job and shot him." Paul said. "That's the only way, because the bodies were in Kurt's cell." Allen replied. "Owen stole a car, went to the courthouse met up with those two. Nick forgot the file, went back outside and that's when they got him." Paul replied. "But Owen had Nick at gun point; he could not have been driving." Allen added. "Nick was driving." Paul suggested. "No, too risky; he would have crashed the car." Allen replied. "True; another person," Paul said, exhaling. "And the get away car next to the caddy." Allen added further. "Let's poke then Forensics." Paul suggested. "Done," Allen agreed. Allen started the engine and backed out. He quickly drove to the courthouse and parked along side of the stairs. He reached over, and opened the glove box and pulled out two pairs of gloves. He handed one pair to Paul and they climbed out. They carefully approached the parking space next to where the caddy sat. Allen went one side and Paul the other. They examined every inch of the space and every stone. Allen spotted a cigarette bud near a rock and carefully picked it up. He whistled for Paul to come in his direction. "What you got?" Paul asked. "Hopefully, the right DNA, cigarette bud," Allen told him. "Let's hope." Paul replied, hoping. "Anything else?" Allen inquired. "Nope; let's go see Kathy." Paul suggested. "There are some bags in the glove box, bag this and let's roll." Allen said. They ran for the truck and they climbed in. Allen tossed the dirty gloves into a barrel in the back seat and Paul bagged the cigarette bud before tossing his gloves into the barrel. Allen started the engine and drove to the Forensics building. Allen parked along the curb and turned the engine off. They climbed out and he locked the doors. They ran up the stairs and inside to Kathy's lab. As they entered the lab, they saw four gurneys with covered bodies. Kathy had covered up the woman's body and peeled her gloves. She backed up slightly, and leaned upon her desk and wiped her forehead of sweat. Allen led the way and approached Kathy with a warm stroke to her back. Paul stood directly in front of her and waited. "Take a breather and tell me what you got so far." Allen said. "Thanks. Okay, the guard Harold Mitchell, and Kurt were killed with Harold's gun. I found a print from Owen on the gun. He must have killed Kurt after Kurt killed Harold." Kathy explained. "I knew it." Paul said. "But, the two at Nick's car have been identified as Daryl Carkin and Megan Sawyer. They were killed with Nick's gun. Because I found Nick's and Paul's prints on the gun and also Owen's." Kathy briefed them. "Damn," Allen said, angrily. "Oh yeah; too easy, that's why it's scary. You can tell Mr. LaCroix he can have the caddy; nothing in, on, or around it for the case." Kathy said. "I have the keys, and I'm going there. Can I take it?" Paul asked. "Sure, just sign the paper on the desk; anything at the cell?" Kathy inquired. "The same as you, clean-cut escape." Allen replied. "How's Molly and his cousin?" Kathy inquired. Paul exhaled, "Destroyed," "I'm sure. I'll keep looking." Kathy said. "Thanks. Where to?" Allen queried. "Drop Nick's car off and then the station. We need to check in with Reese." Paul said. "Okay; Kathy, you okay?" Allen questioned. "Yeah, just find Nick." Kathy replied, upset. "We will. I'll see you later." Allen told her. "Here, okay." Kathy suggested. "No problem." Allen said. Paul and Allen left the lab. Allen went out front and Paul went out back and saw the caddy parked in a corner. He walked over and unlocked the doors. He climbed in and started the engine. He carefully backed out and met Allen out front. They drove to Nick's loft and parked the caddy. Paul locked it up for the night and climbed into Allen's truck. They quickly drove to the station to inform Reese what they had discovered. Nick was sitting upon the cot and staring into space. Suddenly, he heard the door unlocking and Owen stepped in. He had the gun aimed at his head and he tossed Nick a sub-sandwich for dinner. He saw the cross and grinned. "Give me the cross." Owen demanded. "Why?" Nick asked. "I don't want to ask twice." Owen said. "Fine," Nick hissed, frustrated. Nick slowly reached up and removed his cross. Owen grabbed it from his hands and left. He locked up the door and Nick unwrapped the sandwich then ate. Owen left the building and went outside to a pay phone. He slowly dialed the phone and covered it with his hand. At the Raven, LaCroix and Scott had finished preparing the club for business. The phone rang; LaCroix reached over and picked it up. "Raven," LaCroix answered. "Hey, Night Crawler, you want to see Nicky boy, meet me in the alley by the park alone. Tell no one, you come alone or he dies." Owen told him. "I see." LaCroix replied. "You've got ten minutes; clocks ticking." Owen told him. "All right," LaCroix said. LaCroix slowly hung up the phone and hesitated. Scott noticed the sudden change in him and tapped his arm. "What's wrong?" Scott asked. "Take care of the women." LaCroix requested. "Always, but…" Scott started. LaCroix inhaled, "Scott." "All right," Scott replied, concerned. LaCroix remembered what Nick said about flying, but he felt the danger. LaCroix walked to the back entrance and outside. He observed the surroundings and took to flight. He flew to the alley where Owen said and touched down along the edge. He looked around him and slowly walked down the alley. Off to the left side by the fence, Owen stood holding a 45 magnum directly at LaCroix. LaCroix cautiously approached him with both hands in the open. He stood about three feet away. "So, you're the famous Lucien LaCroix." Owen said. "You must be Owen. Where's Nicholas?" LaCroix asked. "Safe, for the moment; I have a car parked along the curb. Here are the keys, you're driving." Owen replied. "How do I know he's truly safe?" LaCroix asked. "Look familiar to you." Owen inquired. "His cross," LaCroix whispered. "Move it, and no tricks. He's not alone and if I'm late, he's dead." Owen told him. "No tricks." LaCroix said. Owen stepped up to LaCroix and hid the gun under his jacket. They carefully walked up the alley and over to a green mini van. They climbed in and LaCroix started the engine. He carefully pulled away and Owen told where to drive. LaCroix tried to maintain his anger so Nick would be safe. LaCroix drove down a long dirt road that led to an old factory building, surrounded by woods. He saw light shining from an upstairs window. He parked the van and he turned the engine off. They climbed out and Owen took the keys. They walked into the building and up one flight of stairs. They walked to the end of the corridor and Owen unlocked the door. LaCroix opened the door and stood in the doorway. Owen slapped the cross into his hand and pushed LaCroix into the room. He fell to the floor and Nick came running to his side. Owen locked the door and left them alone. "LaCroix," Nick said, scared. LaCroix gasped, "My hand," "Let me see." Nick suggested. Nick opened his hand and saw his cross slowly burning his skin. He quickly removed it and helped him to the cot. "Nicholas, are you all right?" LaCroix asked. "I'll live. Why are you here?" Nick inquired. "Not sure. He called and asked me to meet him, and if I didn't, you would be killed." LaCroix said. Nick exhaled, "Great," "He wants five million dollars and a car. Plus the case dropped against him." LaCroix told him. "What did they say?" Nick asked. "There dealing, but he hasn't responded yet." LaCroix answered. "Molly?" Nick queried. "Upset, obviously." LaCroix said. "How's the hand?" Nick inquired. "Almost healed; we need to end this." LaCroix said. "True, but if you do, whose to say he won't go after the women." Nick suggested. LaCroix exhaled, "True," "We must trust Allen and Paul." Nick said. "I do. It's just so…" LaCroix started. "Frustrating," Nick added. "Yes." LaCroix said. "Just rest here. Be right back." Nick said. "Where are you going?" LaCroix asked. "Behind you; I need to go." Nick replied, shyly. "All right," LaCroix said. "Thanks." Nick whispered. LaCroix gave Nick his back for privacy. After a few moments, Nick returned to the cot and sat down by his side. Nick reached over and looked at LaCroix's hand. He displayed shock and LaCroix looked down at his hand. The burn from the cross has not completely healed. "It's not healed." Nick said. "What does this mean?" LaCroix asked. "You're body chemistry is changing." Nick told him. "Is this normal?" LaCroix inquired. "Yeah, and it also means you can be seriously hurt or worse." Nick warned him. LaCroix sighed, "Oh dear," Suddenly, the door opened and Owen stepped in holding his gun. He tossed two sub-sandwiches to Nick and quickly left locking the door. "You hungry?" Nick asked. "I fed before coming here. I'll be all right for a while." LaCroix said. Nick exhaled, "Okay." Nick and LaCroix made the best out of their situation. Owen left Ken in charge and he left to call Allen. Paul and Allen were at the pizza place in the heart of the city. They finished eating and drinking a beer discussing the case. Allen's cell phone rang and he reached into his pocket and pulled it out. He cleared his throat and glanced into Paul's direction. "Straton," Allen replied. "What's the deal for two? I want ten million unmarked bills and a car. I will call you and tell you where they are." Owen told him. "What are you talking about?" Allen inquired. "It's the family deal now. You have until tomorrow night to decide." Owen explained. Allen exhaled, "Damn," "Twenty-four hours." Owen told him. Allen hung up his cell phone and placed it on the table slightly hard. Paul could feel that something was dreadfully wrong. "What's wrong?" Paul asked. "Owen, he's got Nick." Allen said. "We know that." Paul replied. "And Lucien," Allen added. Paul gasped, "What?" "He now wants ten million; a car and he'll call us and tell us where to find them. We have twenty-four hours." Allen told him. "Damn, son of a bitch." Paul hissed angrily. "Easy guy; call Reese and I'll pay for lunch." Allen suggested. "Then where?" Paul queried. "Sadly, tell Jamie and Scott." Allen replied, sadly. Paul sighed, "Man," "Use my phone, and I'll be right back." Allen said. Allen stood up and slowly walked away and up to the register to pay for lunch. Paul dialed and informed Reese of the new situation. Allen returned and Paul stood up then followed Allen outside, and returned his phone to him. Allen unlocked the doors and they climbed in. He started the engine and drove to Nick's loft. Scott finished preparing the Raven for a night of business. Scott suddenly stopped in his tracks in the middle of the floor and felt this uneasy urge in his senses. He turned around and there stood Sir Tian with his hands crossed in front. "Now what?" Scott asked. "Where's LaCroix?" Tian asked. "He left for Nick's place." Scott told him. "He never showed." Tian explained. Scott inhaled, "He didn't." "No, something's wrong." Tian expressed concerned. "Do you know where he is?" Scott asked. "No, but I'm here for another reason." Tian replied. "That is?" Scott inquired. "The village was destroyed by a fire." Tian told him. "Nelson?" Scott inquired. "Destroyed," Tian answered. "All dead," Scott uttered. "Yes. Jamie is the sole survivor." Tian replied. "Damn; I will tell them, I'll head over to the loft." Scott said. "Thank you. Goodbye, Scott." Tian replied. Scott exhaled, "Goodbye." Scott walked over to the bar and picked up the receiver. He slowly dialed the loft. Molly reached over from the couch and picked it up. "Nick." Molly replied. "I'm sorry, Molly, its Scott." Scott said, sadly. "Scott," Molly whispered. "Yes, is Lucien there?" Scott asked. "No, but Jamie said he's late and she's worried." Molly told him. "I'll be right there. Thank you." Scott said. Scott hung up the phone and scanned the room. He hung a sign on the door stating, 'closed for the evening,' and locked it. He flew to the back door and stepped outside. He locked the door and observed his surroundings. He quickly flew to Nick's loft and landed by the elevator. As he pushed the button, Paul and Allen arrived. Scott pulled them aside and Paul held the elevator until they were ready. "LaCroix's missing." Scott replied, concerned. "We know, let's go up." Allen said. "Where is he?" Scott asked. "Owen took him." Paul said. Scott gasped, "What?" "We'll explain in a minute." Allen said. The elevator stopped and they walked into the living room. They saw the women sitting on the couch in silence. They approached them and Scott stood by Jamie. Carla stood up to greet Paul warmly. He whispered for her to sit down by Molly. Jamie felt something horrible has taken place. She slowly reached up and held Scott's hand. "Okay. There's no easy way to say it, Jamie, Owen took Lucien as well." Allen said. "What, no," Jamie replied, crying. "I'm so sorry. He called and now wants ten million and a car." Allen explained. "Lucien received a phone call earlier then left." Scott told him. "Did he say who it was?" Allen asked. "No. I assumed it was Jamie." Scott answered. "Did he say anything?" Paul asked. "Take care of Jamie and Molly." Scott told them. "Good advice." Paul said. "All right, man, he has my friends, and family, it's time to play on the keyboard." Paul said. "I agree. Let's use Nick's. Scott, can you stay for a while?" Allen inquired. "Sure, what do you need?" Scott asked. "Coffee then some food; order and my office will pay." Allen told him. Scott exhaled, "All right," Scott walked over to the couch and asked the women what they would like. Molly picked up the phone and ordered some sandwiches for delivery. Jamie stood up and lightly took Scott by the arm. He saw the tears in her eyes and he embraced her to comfort her. "He'll be back soon." Scott said, warmly. "I know, I just…" Jamie started. "I know he does, and so do I." Scott expressed fondly. "Same here; thank you," Jamie said. "Tell you what, you get two beers for the guys and I will make the coffee, okay." Scott suggested. "All right," Jamie said, upset. Scott walked into the kitchen to make the coffee. Molly took the food and paid with the money Allen gave her earlier. Jamie delivered the two beers to Paul and Allen. They began dancing upon the keyboard and searching for some, answers to the puzzle that just got bigger. Back at the factory, Nick and LaCroix were pacing the floor and stretching their muscles. Suddenly, LaCroix grabbed his stomach and hunched over. Nick ran to his side and grabbed his arm. He held him until the pain faded. "I've got you." Nick said. "I hate this sensation." LaCroix expressed, moaning. "It hurts, don't it?" Nick queried. "When does it stop?" LaCroix asked. "I don't remember." Nick answered. "I need…" LaCroix said, groaning. "I can give you some." Nick said. "NO." LaCroix said, loudly. "You cannot last much longer. The hunger will take control." Nick told him. LaCroix inhaled, "NO." "Fine, but if it happens again, I will force it." Nick told him, firmly. "Nicholas," LaCroix replied. "Shh, he's coming. Can you stand?" Nick inquired. "I believe so." LaCroix said, hesitating. Nick helped LaCroix to his feet and Owen slowly stepped in with his gun. "Morning," Owen said. "What do you want now?" Nick asked. "I want that cross back and your ring, now," Owen demanded. "But…" Nick replied. "One more word," Owen said, waving the gun. "Yeah, yeah," Nick uttered, angrily. Nick removed his cross and LaCroix slowly removed his ring. LaCroix showed it was stuck and Owen took a few steps closer to him. Suddenly, LaCroix removed the ring with force and tried to grab Owen then the gun went off. He grazed LaCroix's arm and he fell to the floor. Nick knelt down to help him. Owen extended his hand for the cross. Nick slammed it into his hand. Owen walked back to the door and Nick stood to face Owen. He shot the gun once more and clipped his upper arm and he landed onto the cot. Owen left and locked the door. Owen walked over to the table, and placed the items into a box and taped them up. He handed the box to Ken. He told him to deliver it to the police station and return. "Did you drop them?" Ken asked. "No, but they will hurt for awhile. Now, go do what I told you. Hurry back." Owen told him. "All right," Ken said. Ken left the building, and climbed into the mini van and drove to the station to deliver the package. LaCroix stood up and saw his arm. The wound was bleeding, but nothing serious. He saw Nick lying on the cot and not moving. He ran to his side and saw Owen shot him as well. He felt his chest and he was alive. He ripped his shirt and tied it around the wound. "Nicholas, Nicholas, wake up." LaCroix pleaded, terrified. "Oh, man, that hurts." Nick said, moaning. "I know. How do you feel other wise?" LaCroix asked. Nick exhaled, "Numb," "Is it too tight?" LaCroix asked. "No, it's fine." Nick whispered. "Try and sit up." LaCroix suggested. "Dizzy," Nick told him. "Relax a few." LaCroix requested. "I'm okay, got to go." Nick said. "Becareful with that arm," LaCroix replied, concerned. "Okay." Nick said, groaning. Nick stumbled to the bucket for a few moments, and zipped up then turned to face him. He slightly fainted and LaCroix reached out to catch him. He helped Nick walk back to the cot and sit down. "All right?" LaCroix inquired. "Yeah," Nick said. "Relax." LaCroix suggested. LaCroix sat on the cot next to Nick to watch him closely. Nick leaned back closing his eyes and relaxed. Paul and Allen stayed up all night searching the files for any clue to help find LaCroix and Nick. Molly strolled down the stairs and into the kitchen to make some coffee. "Morning, guys; anything?" Molly asked, hoping. "Not yet." Paul said. "God, I miss him so much." Molly replied, upset. "Allen, finish; Molly, come here." Paul suggested. Paul opened his arms to Molly and she collapsed into them. He held her so tight and allowed her to cry out her pain. Paul, along with Molly, shed a tear or two for Molly's pain and his friend and partner gone. "Feel better?" Paul inquired. "Some, but I miss him so much, his face, his arms, and his boyish grin." Molly said. "I know. I miss my friend, partner, and he's like the brother I never had." Paul told her. "I know." Molly whispered. "Okay, you go have some coffee and relax. Jamie, Carla, and Scott will stay here. Allen and I need to go to the station and check in." Paul replied. Molly, sniffing her tears back, "I'll try." "My phone is on, call if you need anything." Paul told her. "Okay." Molly said. Allen tapped him on the shoulder that it was time to go. "Hold on, you okay?" Paul inquired. "Yes, please find the two men I love so much." Molly requested. Paul placed a gentle kiss upon her forehead and followed Allen out of the loft. They rode down the elevator to Allen's truck. He unlocked the doors and they climbed in. Allen started the engine and drove to the station. Allen pulled up along the curb and parked the truck. He turned the engine off and they climbed out. They ran up the stairs and inside. Allen made a pit stop to the men's room and Paul walked quickly to Nick's desk. He turned the computer on sat down and waited for Allen. Reese saw Paul sitting at the desk and he walked over to his direction with Allen close behind. They pulled up some chairs and sat around Paul. Suddenly, the computer stopped its search and shock filled their eyes. The silence through out the station became deafen. They read every word displayed. "Owen has done this before, Sarbota that's Florida." Allen said. "He's not there. Where was his last set up?" Paul asked. "This was all before I joined in. It looks like he had two houses and one old building. Check and see if the addresses are listed there and we'll search them one by one." Allen suggested. "Take Jack and Tony, they can help shorten the list." Paul replied. "I'll call a fed in to join them." Allen said. Paul sighed, "Great," As they were searching for the addresses, Lisa approached carrying a box, but she had gloves on. She carefully placed it in front of Allen and stood very still. "Lisa…" Allen uttered. "I found this sitting on the counter. It had yours and Detective Coletti's name on it, but it wasn't mailed." Lisa told him. "Got extra gloves and a knife," Allen requested. "Here, use these." Reese told him. "Here's my knife." Paul said. "Thanks." Allen said, slightly nervous. Allen slowly slipped the gloves on and slowly opened the box. He carefully moved the flaps aside and saw a zip-loc bag inside. He removed the bag and held it up. Paul gasped at the items. "What is it?" Allen asked. "Nick's cross from Molly and Lucien's ring from Jamie." Paul answered. "Let's keep this top secret and top priority. Molly and Jamie are upset enough." Allen suggested. "Agreed," Paul replied. "Lisa, Reese." Allen queried. "Done," Lisa said. "Same here," Reese replied. "Good, let's take these to Kathy to examine." Allen suggested. "Done; hold on a second." Paul requested. Paul leaned over and printed out the addresses. He ripped one off and gave it to Lisa to give it to Jack and Tony to search. Allen pulled out his cell phone and had one of his men meet them there. Paul and Allen left the building and ran to his truck. They climbed in and he started the engine. Allen carefully drove down the road to the Forensics building. Allen pulled up along the curb and parked the truck. He turned the engine off and they climbed out. They ran up the stairs and inside to Kathy's lab. They saw her sitting at the desk rubbing her face and neck and drinking a hot cup of tea. They quietly approached her and stood by her desk. She looked up and saw Allen's face. "Nothing new yet," Kathy inquired. "Try these. Someone delivered them to us at the station. Nick's cross and Lucien's ring; so please becareful with them. I'm sure they will want them back." Allen explained. "No doubt; I will." Kathy replied. "Call us a.s.a.p." Allen strongly requested. Kathy inhaled, "You bet." "Kathy got something." Ryan yelled. "What?" Kathy asked. "I lifted a print from Nick's gun. It had Nick's, Paul's, Owen's, and Kenneth Asch." Ryan said. "That name is so familiar." Allen said. "Where?" Paul asked. "Not sure. Let's go and check on the women. I want to use the computer and find out." Allen suggested. "Okay. Thanks, Ryan, great job." Kathy replied. "Oh yeah; we are now one step ahead. Call us, okay." Allen replied, exhaling. "Right away," Kathy said. Paul and Allen left the lab and walked outside. They ran down the stairs and over to Allen's truck. They climbed in and Allen started the engine. He pulled away and headed for Nick's loft. LaCroix sat on the cot with his head buried into his hands and Nick noticed him. He placed his hand upon LaCroix's back and leaned forward. "What's wrong?" Nick asked. "I'm not sure." LaCroix replied, sadly. "Miss Jamie?" Nick queried. "Yes, a lot." LaCroix answered. "Same here, I miss Molly." Nick admitted. "This sensation is confusing." LaCroix whispered. Nick exhaled, "its called love, remember." "Yes; something else." LaCroix replied, hesitating. "Insecurity?" Nick inquired. "I think." LaCroix answered. "You feel lost and insecure when she's gone. When she's with you, you feel content." Nick explained. LaCroix exhaled, "Yes." "Welcome to the human world." Nick expressed warmly. "Really?" LaCroix inquired. "Yeah, that's what you told me a while back. How's the arm?" Nick asked. "It stings." LaCroix answered. "Mine, too." Nick said. LaCroix hunched over in pain and Nick grabbed his arm. The pain was more intense then the last time. Nick held him until it faded, but not for long. It returned in a much stronger force and Nick could not bare to watch. He took his key chain from his pocket and used a key to slice his wrist slightly. He lifted LaCroix's head and placed his wrist upon his lips. LaCroix resisted at first, but gave into his hunger and the grip Nick had; he fed upon Nick's blood. Once the pain subsided, LaCroix pulled himself away from his wrist and away from Nick. Nick ripped his shirt and tied it around his wrist to keep it clean. Nick stood to face LaCroix directly. "You okay?" Nick asked. "That broke my promise." LaCroix shouted. "No, it was necessary." Nick said. "Why?" LaCroix asked. "You were dying, and I won't allow that." Nick told him. "But…" LaCroix started. "You do this journey slow, very slow. You needed the blood to live. We don't have the bottles so you needed me. Besides, it was my idea." Nick explained. "I know. I don't want to slip." LaCroix said, angrily. "You didn't slip. You were willing to die because there was no food here for you. I had food for you, you are still a vampire, and I fed you, for a change. So now, you owe me dinner." Nick told him. "All right, deal." LaCroix said, exhaling. "Relax." Nick replied. "I need to sit down." LaCroix said, shaking. "I need to go." Nick whispered. "Again?" LaCroix asked. Nick exhaled, "Nerves., "Oh, sorry," LaCroix replied, smiling. After he spent a few moments at the bucket, he zipped up and joined LaCroix on the cot. They enjoyed light conversation to pass the time. Allen and Paul just arrived at Nick's loft. They rode up in the elevator and entered the living room. Paul and Allen saw Scott by the chair. Scott turned to face them, but no women were present. "Where are they?" Paul asked. "There resting in their rooms. They were exhausted from stress." Scott replied. "I know the feeling." Allen said. "What do you need?" Scott inquired. "Some coffee, please," Paul requested. "No problem." Scott said. "Let's go." Paul replied. Suddenly, Allen's cell phone rang and he quickly pulled it out of his pocket to answer it. "Straton," Allen answered. "Yes sir, its Jack; nothing at the first address." Jack replied. "It's Allen, thanks. Can you guys do the second one in the morning?" Allen inquired. "Sure thing," Jack answered. "Thanks, Jack." Allen replied, sighing. "Bye, Allen." Jack replied. Allen hung up his phone and placed it on the table. They continued with the search. Paul typed in Ken's name to search his past and suddenly, the computer stopped. Allen stepped forward and leaned on the table in shock. They saw Ken had a record and he and Owen were a team. "Oh my, damn it. Bring up the record of Owen for a minute." Allen suggested, stunned. "Okay, why?" Paul asked. "Something is clicking, but it needs help." Allen requested. "Okay, this is the first and we'll read every one of them. Grab a chair." Paul suggested. "Thanks." Allen replied, puzzled. "Here's your coffee. Paul, Carla is asking for you." Scott informed him. "Thanks." Paul said. "Go see Carla, get some sleep, relieve me about mid-night and it's my turn to sleep." Allen suggested. "Cool. Scott, if I sleep past mid-night, wake me up." Paul replied. "Okay." Scott said. "Good luck, man." Paul told Allen. Allen exhaled, "Thanks." Paul stood up and started to leave when Allen's cell phone rang. He reached over and picked it up then Paul hesitated. "Straton," Allen said. "What's the deal?" Owen asked. "Owen. Same as before, but ten million," Allen answered. "Ten million unmarked bills and a car I follow you to the border, let them go, I give you the money. See ya, have a nice day." "Fine. Meet me at York Mills Road border, we'll trade there." Owen agreed. "What time?" Allen asked. "Mid-night tomorrow," Owen told him. "Done; I want to hear them." Allen requested. Owen sighed, "They're sleeping." "Wake them up or the deal is off." Allen said. "Allen." Paul mumbled. "You'll have to trust me." Owen replied, with a sarcastic laugh. Owen hung up the phone and went back to the building. Allen hung up his cell phone and slammed it on the desk. "What did he say?" Paul asked, scared. "He took the deal and said trust him." Allen told him. "I don't." Paul said, filled with hate. "Neither do I; go get some sleep; we have less then twelve hours." Allen said. "To do what?" Paul inquired. "Find them before mid-night tomorrow night." Allen said. Paul exhaled, "Awesome," "York Mill Road, huh; Scott, how well do you know this country?" Allen asked. "Like the back of my hand." Scott replied. "Let's do it." Allen replied. Allen picked up his cell phone and dialed Jack. "Hello." Jack said, winded. "Hey, Jack; Allen; I would like you and Tony very secretly poke around York Mill Road. I have a feeling he's close, in that area. Don't do anything. Call me and wait. Understand." Allen ordered. "Yes, later." Jack said. Allen hung up the phone and placed it back down. Scott sat down and hesitated a few. "Why there?" Scott asked. "He would want a quick get away so he would have to be close to watch the area and leave quick." Allen answered. Scott sighed, "True," "Let's read this and see what clicks." Allen replied. "Start it up." Scott said. "Okay." Allen said, sighing. The hours passed very slowly, they spent hours reading Owen's record piece by piece. Suddenly, Allen stopped; he saw a place that shook his nerves. Scott read it, unfamiliar to him, tapped Allen's forearm. "What's wrong?" Scott asked. "This case seven years ago, I remember reading about it. It was horrific what he did." Allen briefed him. "And?" Scott inquired. "And, my brain is mush." Allen replied, frustrated. "Take a deep breath and relax." Scott suggested. "Yeah, I know. Oh my, damn it," Allen said, slapping his thighs. "That's an abandoned factory near York Mill Road. He ran his weapon's there when it was open, the FBI shut him down." "They're there?" Scott inquired. "I'm willing to bet my life on it; get Paul." Allen replied, ecstatic. "On my way," Scott said. Scott stood up running for Paul and brought him to Allen. He explained himself and what he and Scott found. Nick fell asleep on the cot, and LaCroix paced the floor. Nick could hear him walking and woke up to him standing at the foot of the cot. "What's wrong?" Nick asked. "Just uneasy," LaCroix answered. "Feeling okay?" Nick queried. "Yes. Like before, it's making its presence known." LaCroix replied, shying away. "The blood?" Nick inquired. "Your life, your thoughts, your…" LaCroix paused. "Sorry, I forgot. Keep it in your mind, okay." Nick replied, blushing. LaCroix smiled, "No problem." "What's the grin for?" Nick asked. "Nothing," LaCroix replied, clearing his throat. "LaCroix, stop," Nick requested. "I hope it does." LaCroix said. Owen slowly unlocked the door and stepped in with his gun. He tossed food to Nick and left. He locked the door and Nick examined the food, more subs. Nick lay the food at his side and LaCroix noticed this and the look upon his face. "What troubles you?" LaCroix asked. "I'm sick of subs." Nick answered. LaCroix exhaled, "Sorry," "How about you; you okay?" Nick inquired. "A lot better, and no more please." LaCroix pleaded, slightly. "I won't let you suffer." Nick told him. "Nicholas," LaCroix replied, firmly. "No, LaCroix." Nick said, directly. LaCroix laughed slightly at Nick's response. He took a few steps towards him and sat by his side. "What's so funny?" Nick asked. "For a moment there, I heard the old Nicholas rebel against me." LaCroix told him. Nick exhaled, "Sorry," "Don't apologize, I missed it." LaCroix said. "Okay." Nick replied. "How's the arm?" LaCroix asked. "Hurts, yours?" Nick queried. "Better. Get some rest." LaCroix requested. "But…" Nick replied, hesitating. "Rest, now." LaCroix strongly recommended. "Yes, sir," Nick replied, grinning. LaCroix smiled, "Cute," Nick lay back onto the cot and closed his blue eyes. LaCroix stood and moved to the head of the cot. He lightly touched his forehead and Nick slowly drifted off. LaCroix cleared his mind of pain and sadness. He stood close by to watch over him and protect him. The hours passed rather quickly, Paul sitting at the computer still working on the file. Allen slept on the couch and woke up from the aroma of fresh coffee brewing. He slowly sat up and saw Paul at the computer. Allen took a few moments in the bathroom next to the kitchen and walked into the kitchen to make two mugs of coffee. He walked into the other room and handed Paul a mug. Allen glanced down at the computer screen and saw a map. "What you got?" Paul asked. "Jack called and I told him what you said, he went there with Tony and he saw light coming from a room on the second floor. There's a mini van parked outside in front, and it's only Ken and Owen." Allen replied. "Perfect. You call Reese, and I'll call Bob and we will set up a huge sting." Paul said. Allen exhaled, "Awesome," Suddenly, the phone rang and Allen walked over and picked it up. He cleared his throat. "Hello." Allen replied. "Allen." Kathy said. "Yeah, Kathy; what's up?" Allen asked. "Nothing on the jewelry," Kathy answered. "I thought as much. Can you give it to Reese so I can give it to them later?" Allen queried. "You found them." Kathy said, happily. Allen exhaled, "Yeah," "No problem. Let me know when you bring them home." Kathy requested. "I will; bye." Allen said. Allen hung up the phone and he pulled out his cell phone and dialed his boss, Bob, at the FBI building. He explained the situation and requested extra men to take him down. He quickly hung up the phone and placed it into his pocket. Paul strolled over to his direction carrying a map. They quickly moved over to the kitchen table and sat down to plan the rescue. Suddenly, from all directions, the women appeared and gathered around the table. Molly saw the map with Nick and LaCroix written on it and gasped. Molly smiled, "You found them." "Yes." Allen said. "Go get them." Molly insisted. "We're planning the rescue right now." Allen replied. "Now," Molly replied, erratic. "If we go in there now, Owen could and would kill them. We need to plan and make sure its safe for everybody." Paul explained. "Don't worry they will be home very soon." Allen said. "When?" Molly asked. "Tonight, we hope." Allen said. "Ladies, can you make more coffee, Reese and some men are coming over to help do the plan." Paul requested. "Sure, sorry," Molly said. "Molly, never apologize for loving him; we both want him and Lucien home." Paul told her. "Molly, help me please." Jamie suggested. "Carla," Paul said. "Yeah," Carla said. "Help them for me. You've been there, remember." Paul reminded her. "I will never forget it." Carla said, shaking. "Tell them, reassure them, okay." Paul suggested. "I will; becareful. Love you." Carla said. Paul smiled, "Love you, too, Angel." Paul placed a gentle kiss upon her rosy lips and she left for the kitchen. A knock came from the door and Reese with six men behind him entered the loft. Paul waved them over to the table and they made a circle around Paul and Allen. "Fill us in." Reese requested. "It took us all night to find them. At first we agreed to the deal, he gets ten million and a car. It held him. We have until mid-night tonight. Ryan found a fingerprint on Nick's gun, Kenneth Asch. He's an associate of Owen's. Owen asked to meet at York Mill Road. There's an old factory building that was shut down seven years ago by the FBI, and it was his." Allen briefed them. "And we shut him down again." Reese said. "Revenge," Paul said. "Damn. What's the plan?" Reese asked. "We surround the building, when he meets me, we go from there. Any other way, they're dead." Allen blurted out. "Agreed," Reese said. Suddenly, Allen's cell phone rang and pulled it out from his pocket. "Straton," Allen said. "Got the money?" Owen inquired. "Yes, and your car, a friend will follow me five feet behind. I'll drive up to you; the money will be in the back in a duffle bag. I will climb out, step off to the side, let them go and see ya." Allen told him. "Done, and no tricks." Owen said. "None; I want my friends back." Allen expressed firmly. "Mid-night," Owen said firmly. Allen exhaled, "Mid-night." Allen hung up the phone, and placed it back into his pocket and faced everyone. Allen moved over to Reese and silently asked for the package Kathy had given him. Allen took it from him and walked over to the couch where the women were sitting drinking coffee. Allen knelt down and looked to Jamie. He handed her LaCroix's ring and he turned to Molly. He gave her Nick's cross and he gently took their hands. "Now, what I want you two to do with Carla, and Scott, hold them, pray and return them to them when we bring them home. Okay." Allen said. "Yes." Molly replied, exhaling. "Yes." Jamie said, upset. "Good. Scott, you're on duty." Allen told him. "Hurry back, be safe." Scott replied. "We will." Paul replied. Allen returned to the table and faced the men pointing at the map. "All right; you know your spot and job. Paul, you drive the back up car. Remember he's very dangerous and will be armed, don't hesitate putting him down. Park along the edge of the road and walk in as quiet as possible. No cell phones whistle to signal, yell if in danger." Allen instructed them. "Okay, let's go." Reese said. "Lead on." Paul said. "What's the back up?" Reese asked. "The caddy rides again." Paul replied, happily. "All right, let's go get our friends back." Allen said, firmly. Allen and Paul led the way out of the loft and rode down the elevator. They all climbed into their cars, started the engines, and drove slowly to York Mill Road. Inside the loft, Scott lightly tapped Jamie and waved her away. They walked over to the piano and whispered quietly. "Jamie, I'm going out there." Scott said. "But…" Jamie started, scared. "LaCroix must be hurting, he needs blood. He cannot feed off Nick, its forbidden. If I don't he won't be coming home." Scott told her. "Becareful," Jamie whispered. "I will, don't worry." Scott said. "Upstairs fridge," Jamie told him. "Okay." Scott whispered. Scott ran up the stairs and into LaCroix's room. He quickly removed a bottle or two from the fridge and took to flight. He slowly flew to the building and tried to stay out of sight. He touched down below their window and looked around. He walked about a foot or so and Ken snuck up behind him and jammed his gun into his back. Ken shoved him inside the building and up the stairs to Owen. "Look at what I found." Ken said. "Who are you?" Owen asked. "Scott James." Scott answered. Owen scoffed, "Well, Scott, you found trouble." "Now what?" Scott inquired. "Meet two guys and die later." Owen told him. "Fine," Scott replied. Owen unlocked the door and Ken tossed Scott into the room. Scott fell and slid across the floor. Nick saw him and ran to his side. "You all right?" Nick asked. "Yes." Scott answered. "Why are you here?" Nick questioned. "LaCroix," Scott said. Scott saw Nick's wrist tied up with blood on it. He looked up to Nick's eyes and stared. Nick helped him to his feet and Scott walked over to LaCroix sitting on the cot. Scott pulled out two bottles from his jacket and helped LaCroix drink the blood. LaCroix grabbed hold of the bottle and drank it quickly. "Feel better?" Scott asked. "Yes." LaCroix replied, exhaling. "Nick's wrist?" Scott inquired. "I forced him, he was hurting." Nick said. "Did he bite?" Scott asked. "No, I cut it with a key." Nick told him. "All right," Scott sighed in relief. "You're arm LaCroix, let's see it." Scott took his arm and unwrapped it. He saw the wound has not completely healed but doing well. He left LaCroix to feed and walked over to Nick to examine his wounds. He looked at the gunshot wound then his wrist. "You need a doctor for that arm, but your wrist is almost healed. You will not turn." Scott said. "Turn?" Nick queried. "That's why I asked if he bit you." Scott told him. "Oh yeah; LaCroix, all right?" Nick asked. "Yes; if he feeds on all of that, he'll be back to normal." Scott replied. "Molly?" Nick inquired. "Jamie?" LaCroix added. "They're fine, upset, but fine. Nick, you need to listen to me. Give him no more blood." Scott instructed him. "Why?" Nick asked. "He can feel and see your life." Scott said. LaCroix exhaled, "Like before Nicholas." "You were hurting, dying. I will not allow it. Call it even due to the shower with Jamie." Nick told him, strongly. "I don't want to hear that." Scott said. "Sorry," Nick said. "What's going down?" "Come over to the cot, I want to check LaCroix and I'll explain quietly what's going down." Scott replied. While Scott explained the plan, he examined LaCroix's condition. Outside, Allen silently gave direction to everyone, where to go and stand. Each person quietly strolled through the trees and slowly surrounded the building. Once it was complete, someone whistled. Reese stood by the front entrance and Paul and Allen quietly walked in. They had their guns drawn directly in front of them, looked at every corner and behind every wall they saw. They quietly walked up the stairs and lay down out of sight. They saw Owen and Ken sitting at a table with a 45 magnum on the table. They bowed their heads and quietly slid down and outside to Reese. "Okay, Owen and Ken are sitting at the table with a 45 magnum. They must be in the locked room." Allen reported. "Damn it," Paul whispered. "Scott's in there too." Paul said. "What?" Allen asked. "I heard a few words; he must have tried on his own." Paul replied. Allen inhaled, "Great," "Ideas?" Paul inquired. "We could try and lore one out and get the other." Allen suggested. "Good one. Reese go around back and pick up one or two men, Paul and I here. Wait for the signal." Allen told him. "Got it." Reese said. Reese slowly, but quietly walked around back. He grabbed Jack and Tony, and they set up at the back entrance, armed and ready. Paul and Allen hesitated in thought on how to lore one out. "What about a wounded animal?" Paul asked. "They would ignore that, and let it die." Allen said. "True. What about a person?" Paul inquired. "They might look." Allen said. "Try a high a voice; they may think it's a girl and look to get lucky." Paul suggested. "I'll try." Allen replied. Paul smirked, "Pull your shorts." "Funny," Allen said. "Sorry," Paul replied. "Now; fire a shot." Allen requested. Paul stood off to the side in the darkness, and Allen fired his gun. Owen and Ken jumped a hundred feet and Owen grabbed the gun. Paul, as high as he could, moaned and pleaded for help. Owen sent Ken down to investigate. Owen searched for his key to the door. Ken slowly emerged through the doorway, Allen waited for him to go one more foot, and then he stood behind him and placed the gun directly at the back of his head. "One word or scream, you're brain dead. Paul." "Hi; I have a gift for you. Handcuffs and a hanky. Have a seat please." Allen said. Paul handcuffed him to a metal pole and stuffed the hanky inside his mouth. He slightly whistled for someone to come and watch him. Allen and Paul slowly crawled up the stairs and saw Reese at the other end. He was pointing inside the room to tell Allen; Owen went in. Allen led the way with Paul and glided along the wall. Reese observed and had his gun ready. Allen made his way to the door, and looked through the crack and saw Owen standing there holding a 45 magnum. "What do you want now?" Nick asked. "It looks like your friends are here and there not getting anything like me. So, who's first?" Owen asked. "No one," Nick told him. "I think you'll go first, you cost me millions." Owen said. "NO." Scott yelled. Scott stepped in front of Nick and Owen fired the gun. Scott fell to the floor not moving. Nick ran to him and checked on his condition. LaCroix fumed to no end, his vampire eyes appeared and stunned Owen. LaCroix slowly approached him grabbed him by the throat and snarled into his face. "You have tormented us for the last time." LaCroix hissed in anger. "LaCroix, no," Scott yelled. "He does not deserve to live." LaCroix said. "True; your promise, don't do it." Nick shouted. "Nicholas," Scott said. "LaCroix, please," Nick pleaded. "Owen, drop it now or I drop you. Lucien back away." Allen demanded. "But…" LaCroix said. "Lucien, please move away." Allen ordered, louder. Nick carefully approached LaCroix placed his hands on his upper arms and whispered softly. "Lucien, please, for Jamie." Nick insisted. "Jamie," LaCroix whispered. "Me," Nick said. LaCroix inhaled, "Always," "Yourself," Nick added. "All right," LaCroix said. LaCroix calmed his beast and stepped away. Owen lifted his gun and aimed at Nick. LaCroix covered him with his body and Allen raised his gun, yelled his name, and then fired directly. Owen fell like a rock to the floor with a hole in his head. "Nicholas?" LaCroix queried, terrified. "I'm fine, thank you. Rule three." Nick said. "That is?" LaCroix asked. "Resist all temptation." Nick answered. LaCroix sighed, "Now, you tell me." "Hey, guys." Allen said. "Am I glad to see you." Nick said. "Hey, partner." Paul said, grinning. "Paul," Nick said exhaling, happily. "Everyone all right?" Reese asked. "Tired, hungry, and little worn, but okay." Nick said. "Allen, take them to the hospital." Reese ordered. "Is it over?" Scott asked. "Nice acting." LaCroix said. Scott inhaled, "I know," "I brought the caddy; I'll take them there first and home to some loving." Paul said. "Perfect medicine," Nick said, grinning. "I agree." LaCroix replied, smiling. "I'll stay here finish up, and you go to the hospital then home. Allen call me when there home." Paul requested. "I will, come on boys." Allen insisted. Allen led the way down the stairs and outside. Allen strolled to his truck and Paul took them to the caddy. Nick's eyes sparkled to see his car again. Paul drove them to the hospital with Allen close behind. They pulled into the lot and parked near the emergency entrance. Allen climbed out and helped Paul with Nick and LaCroix into the hospital. Paul took them into the nearest empty room while Allen went for help. "Okay, where does it hurt?" Paul asked. "The arm and your not a doctor." Nick said. "Not fair." Paul said. Nick smirked, "Not funny either." "Hello, I'm Doctor Elliott, who's hurt?" Doc asked. "They are." Paul told him. "Hello, you are?" the Doctor asked. "Lucien LaCroix, I'm fine." LaCroix said. "I'm sure, but let's see it anyway." Doc replied. The doctor unwrapped his forearm and lightly touched the wound. Nick and Scott watched him closely. "Does it hurt?" Doc asked. "No." LaCroix answered. "How about here?" Doc inquired. LaCroix inhaled, "Slight sting," "It's not infected, but it will sting for a day or two. Keep it clean and use warm water. Any problems, call me." Doc told him. "Thank you." LaCroix said. "Now, your turn; you are?" Doc asked. "Detective Nick Knight," Nick answered. "Let's have a look. What happened?" Doc inquired. "Got grazed by a bullet," Nick explained. "That hurts." Doc replied. Nick sighed, "It did." "Not bad. A little red, does this hurt?" Doc asked. "No." Nick answered. "Here?" Doc queried. "No." Nick said. "Let's see the wrist." Doc requested. "All right," Nick said, sighing. "Amazing, nothing there," Doc said, stunned. "What?" Nick questioned. "No wound. I will put some cream on this one and wrap it up. Same as your friend," Doc said. "Cousin," Nick replied, proudly. "All right, same as your cousin; keep it clean and use warm water." Doc instructed him. "All right, thank you." Nick said. "Okay, you two go home and rest for a day or two. Call me if anything changes." Doc requested. "Okay." Nick said. LaCroix smiled, "A pleasure," "Well, guys, I'm glad you're back and okay; guy's night soon." Paul said. "Done," Nick replied. "I'll get the car, see you outside. Welcome home." Paul said. "Thanks." Nick said. "Thank you." LaCroix said. "You actually felt pain?" Nick inquired. "Yes." LaCroix replied, smiling. "Great. You've been woken up." Nick whispered, happily. "I'm thrilled for you. I'll be flying off to the Raven. I need to finish the preparations for the Final Joining you missed." Scott said. "Thank you." LaCroix said, warmly. Scott left the hospital quietly while Nick and LaCroix walked outside to wait for Paul. Nick noticed LaCroix became very quiet and still. "What's wrong?" Nick asked. "If you weren't there, I would have fed on him." LaCroix said. Nick exhaled, "No you wouldn't." "How do you know this?" LaCroix inquired. "Because, you are a MAN of your word; you have never gone back on a promise." Nick said, smiling. LaCroix smiled, "True," "That's how I know. There's Paul, let's go home." Nick said. They climbed into the caddy and Paul slowly drove to Nick's loft. He parked the car and they climbed out. Paul locked it up for the night, and they rode the elevator up to his loft. They entered the living room and saw the women standing by the staircase. They slowly turned around and saw them. The tears slowly ran down their soft cheeks and they ran to the arms of their true love. They held and embraced each other, and affectionately kissed each other. "I've missed you so much." Molly said. "Same here," Nick said, teary-eyed. "Lucien, you all right?" Jamie cried softly. "I am now." LaCroix replied, happily. "All right, guys, go to your bedrooms and play catch up. Let's go Carla. I want to play too." Paul said. "You're on. Welcome home." Carla replied. Paul and Carla slowly left the loft and the others slowly climbed the stairs then entered their own rooms. LaCroix and Jamie stood by the foot of the bed and kissed each other passionately. Jamie felt his weakness and walked over to the fridge. She got him a green bottle and handed it to him. He drank it rather quickly and placed it onto the table by the bed. "I've missed you so much." Jamie said, teary-eyed. "I too," LaCroix said. "Let's shower and enjoy what's left." Jamie suggested. "Lead the way." LaCroix replied, warmly. Jamie smiled, "My pleasure," "I'm sure." LaCroix said, slight laugh. Jamie led LaCroix into the bathroom and she turned the water on. She slowly slipped out of her clothes and assisted LaCroix stripping down. They climbed into the shower cleaned up and the water intensified their passion then made love in the shower. Molly held Nick as tight as she could. She slowly stepped away and pulled out his cross from her pocket. "How did you get that?" Nick asked. "Allen gave it to me before he left to bring you two home; Jamie has Lucien's ring." Molly told him. "I missed it." Nick said. "Allow me." Molly suggested. "I need to use the bathroom, a real one, and then a major shower." Nick said. "You go first, and I will clean you up." Molly told him. Nick smiled, "My whole body needs the royal treatment." "So do I." Molly replied. "Give me five." Nick requested. Nick walked into the bathroom for a few moments then opened the door for Molly. She reached into the shower and turned the water on. She quickly stripped down and helped Nick strip. They quickly stepped into the shower and noticed the water pressure slightly down. "They have the same idea." Nick said, laughing. "So do I, I missed making love with you." Molly said, breathing erratic. "Show me how much." Nick replied, feeling his arousal rising. Molly smiled, "No problem." The water also intensified their passion and they too, made love in the shower. LaCroix and Jamie had finished their shower dressed for bed. LaCroix placed a kiss upon her forehead and she reached over to her nightstand and picked up his ring. LaCroix smiled and glanced into her eyes. "You will need this." Jamie suggested. "But how?" LaCroix inquired. "Allen gave it to me before he brought you two home." Jamie told him. LaCroix smiled, "I see." "May I," Jamie requested. "Always," LaCroix said, warmly. Jamie slipped the ring onto his LaCroix's finger on his right hand. LaCroix gazed upon it and gave it a gentle roll. "I must see Scott. I shall not be long." LaCroix replied. "But…" Jamie started. "I promise. He was hurt and I want to see if he's all right." LaCroix replied. Jamie exhaled, "Please hurry, you've been gone too long already." "All right," LaCroix replied, grinning. LaCroix gave Jamie a slight kiss upon the back of her hand and took to flight. He touched down outside the back door and entered the club. He saw Scott leaning upon the bar. Scott sensed him turned and faced him happily. "You all right?" LaCroix asked. "Yes, and you?" Scott queried. "All healed up." LaCroix said. Scott exhaled, "I'm pleased." "I've been given bad news before you disappeared." Scott said, hesitating. "That was?" LaCroix inquired. "Sir Tian." Scott said. LaCroix inhaled, "What of him?" "Jamie's village was discovered and destroyed by a fire." Scott told him. "Nelson?" LaCroix inquired. "He burned." Scott replied. "Oh dear," LaCroix sighed. Scott exhaled, "I'm sorry." "I'll tell her after the joining time." LaCroix said. "Tomorrow night," Scott requested. "Thank you, Scott, for everything." LaCroix replied, warmly. "Nicholas?" Scott inquired. "A lot better; I need to go back to Jamie." LaCroix said. "I'll see you about nine." Scott suggested. "Nine it is. Goodnight, Scott." LaCroix replied. "Night," Scott said, smiling. LaCroix grinned and slowly walked back to the rear entrance and stepped outside. He observed his surroundings and took to flight. He touched down inside his room and saw Jamie lying under the covers, naked. LaCroix smiled and approached the bed; he slowly stripped down and joined her under the covers. Jamie reached over and turned the light off. Nick and Molly finished the shower dried off and dressed for bed. Molly slipped into her pink silk nightgown and lay across the bed. Nick wore his lounge pants and joined her along the other side. They grinned, smiled, and slightly laughed. "It's so good to be home." Nick said, exhaling. "I'm so glad your back." Molly replied, happily. "I have the whole day and night off, what would you like to do?" Nick asked. "Stay home." Molly requested. "Almost; I need to check into the station, pick up jewelry for Lucien and we're doing lunch with Allen. He's leaving, going back to his territory. Michael and Rose will be there." Nick said. "How about a cozy dinner, movie, and me tomorrow night," Molly suggested. "You're on. However, I need to go to the Raven for about an hour or so. LaCroix needs me to witness something." Nick told her. "What's that?" Molly asked. "The Final Joining to there marriage; it's between him, Jamie, and myself." Nick said, hesitating. "Okay, but hurry after that." Molly requested. "If I could fly, I would." Nick said. Molly smiled, "Cute. You said real bathroom earlier." "Yeah, I had a bucket." Nick replied. "Poor Nick. Let's see if I can make you feel better." Molly expressed, feeling hot. "Oh yeah," Nick replied, grinning. Molly reached over and turned the light off. They snuggled under the covers, and made love for most of the night and slept the rest. The hours passed slowly with the warm sense of love and security. The sun shined through the blinds and traveled upward to Nick's glowing face. He suddenly sat up from a vision that played in his mind. Molly woke up and saw the fear and sweat dripping from his forehead. He looked over and saw her; he reached out and held her tight. "It's all right, your safe." Molly whispered. "Oh, man, I hate this feeling." Nick said, shaking. "What feeling?" Molly asked. "Fear," Nick answered. "It's very normal after what you've been through." Molly replied. "I know, but…" Nick hesitated. "Tell you what, its church day. We'll shower and I'll make breakfast. Then we'll go to church, you drop me off at the Gallery. I need to tell my assistant what's needed today, and pick me up for lunch, okay." Molly suggested. "Okay, give me five." Nick said. "All right," Molly whispered, nodding her head. Nick crawled out of bed and strolled into the bathroom. A few moments passed and he opened the door for Molly. They quickly took a shower and dried off. They strolled back into the bedroom and dressed for church. They walked into the hallway and down the stairs. Molly prepared a small breakfast while Nick made the coffee. They finished eating and Nick grabbed his things. He removed his gun and placed it in his belt under his jacket. They walked out of the loft and rode down the elevator down to his car. He unlocked the doors and opened her door. Molly climbed in and he closed it. He walked over to his side and climbed in. He started the engine and slowly drove to the Parkdale Methodist Church. He saw the parking lot and pulled in. He parked the caddy and turned the engine off. He stepped out, walked over, and opened Molly's door. They walked up the path and entered the church. Nick's eyes filled with wonder and slight fear. For it has been centuries since he has been able to enter a church. Along the walls stained glass holy pictures of the Jesus crucifixion. Both sides had rows of pews for people to sit down. Up front, along the altar, all the items to celebrate the mass for the morning. Nick escorted Molly into the church and they sat in the last pew. The other people appeared and soon the church filled up. The Reverend came from a side door and stood upon the altar. He began to speak of Jesus and his life, death, and resurrection, and forgiveness and listened. Nick sat there amazed and moved by his words. The ceremony lasted about thirty minutes or so and the people slowly left the church. Molly escorted Nick up the aisle and stood by the Reverend. He slowly turned and smiled. He greeted them with warm handshakes and offered the first pew to sit down. "Hello, Molly. Nice to see you again, and who's this?" the Reverend asked. "Nicholas Knight." Molly said. "Nicholas." Reverend replied. "Nick is all right, hello." Nick said, shyly. "What do you do?" Reverend asked. "I'm a Detective on the police force." Nick told him, proudly. "Dangerous?" Reverend inquired. "At times," Nick said. "Frightening," Reverend replied. Nick exhaled, "At times," "So, you two plan to marry?" Reverend asked. "Yes." Nick said, proudly. "Next year, October 31st." Molly told him. "Any thoughts to what kind of ceremony?" Reverend inquired. "We thought if it was nice weather, outside, candle ceremony." Nick said. "Too cold, or rainy, inside with candles." Molly added. "How lovely; how long have you two known each other?" Reverend asked. "About a year and a half; also, an evening wedding," Nick said, smiling. "That's different." Reverend commented. "Yes." Molly said. "I need to go. Welcome to our church, I'm here if you need to talk or anything else." Reverend expressed fondly. "Thank you." Molly said. "Good day." Nick replied. They stood shook hands and Nick escorted Molly down the aisle then outside. They walked to the car, and he opened her door and she stepped in. He closed her door and strolled to his side. He climbed in and started the engine, but hesitated a few. "What's wrong?" Molly asked. "Ah, nothing; it's been so long since I have gone to church, any church, and…" Nick replied. "And what?" Molly inquired further. "I'm not sure." Nick said. Molly smiled, "You'll be fine." "With you, always," Nick said, grinning. "Go finish up at the station and pick me up for lunch." Molly requested. "Done; love you." Nicks aid. "Love you, too," Molly replied. Nick backed out and drove out of the lot. He headed for the Gallery to drop off Molly then drove to the station. He parked along the curb and turned the engine off. He climbed out and locked the doors. He walked up the stairs and inside. Everyone applauded that he was safe and back home. He displayed a slight grin and subtle bow. He walked over to his desk and met up with his friends, Reese, Paul, and Allen. "Okay, guys; I'm embarrassed." Nick said, blushing slightly. "Yeah," Paul said. "You look a whole lot better." Allen said. "Nick." Reese said. "Cap." Nick replied. "Smooth move Cap." Paul said. "Okay, finish the paperwork and vanish; until ten tomorrow," Reese said. "No problem." Nick replied. "Okay, Buddy, sign in the usual three spots." Paul requested. "Let's go." Nick said. "Let's drop this off, then where?" Paul inquired. "Jewelry store, pick up Molly and eat." Nick replied. "Why the jewelry store?" Paul asked. "Lucien ordered matching rings and he asked me to pick them up." Nick explained. "Cool." Paul expressed, smiling. They slowly walked away from Nick's desk Paul ran into Reese's office and turned in the file. Paul met up with Nick and they left the station. They walked down the stairs and over to Nick's car. He unlocked the doors and they climbed in. He started the engine and pulled away. He slowly drove to the jewelry store down town and drove into the space out front. They climbed out and entered the store. They stood by the register and waited patiently. "Hi, I'm Amy. Can I help you?" Amy asked. "Lucien LaCroix, I'm here to pick up a set of rings for him." Nick replied. "One moment," Amy requested. Amy looked under the counter and found the package. She quickly handed him the box and smiled. "There paid in full, thank you." Amy said. "Thanks, let's go." Nick said. Nick and Paul exited the store and climbed back into the car. He placed the box into his pocket for safekeeping and started the engine. He backed up and headed for the Gallery. He pulled up along the curb and saw Molly sitting on the steps. She ran down and Paul stepped out. Molly climbed in and Paul closed the door. He climbed into the rear. Nick gave Molly a quick kiss and pulled away. He drove to the pizza place. He parked the car out front and turned the engine off. They climbed out and locked the doors. Nick took Molly by the hand and they entered the restaurant. They spotted everybody in the corner and they joined in on the fun. However, at the Raven, the club lit up in soft lavender. Candles lit at every wall and corner; and soft piano music playing in the background. On the bar, three candles stood in gold holders, and a bottle of champagne. The silver chalice placed by a lighted red candle. LaCroix came from the back room and his eyes filled with amazement of the view before him. He slowly strolled in the middle of the floor and turned slightly. He gazed upon everything along the walls and the scent of the candles. Scott walked out to greet him and made sure everything is what he requested. "Is everything all right?" Scott asked. LaCroix inhaled, smiling, "Beautiful," "Thank you." Scott replied. "Jamie?" LaCroix queried. "Not until the ceremony begins." Scott told him. "When?" LaCroix questioned. "When Nicholas arrives. He has the rings. I will get the glasses and matches. He should be here soon." Scott said. "I will wait here." LaCroix replied. Scott left the room to find the items he mentioned. Nick entered the club from the back entrance and walked up to LaCroix. Nick gave the room a long glance and looked to LaCroix's eyes. "Increditable," Nick replied, stunned. "Thank you; do you have them?" LaCroix inquired. "Oh yeah," Nick said. Nick pulled out the red velvet box he got from the jewelry store. He opened the box and showed it to LaCroix. Inside, two gold bands with three chip diamonds in them. LaCroix exhaled, "Perfect," "Yes they are." Nick said. "Thank you for all you have done for us, for me." LaCroix replied. "That's what family is for." Nick replied, warmly. "Hi, Nicholas; are we ready?" Scott asked. Nick inhaled, "Yes." "Take your places and I will bring Jamie to you." Scott suggested. LaCroix and Nick walked over and stood by the red candle and chalice. Nick stood by his side and grinned. Scott appeared from the back room with Jamie upon his arm. She was a vision of perfection. Jamie wore a long satin burgundy dress with three roses in her hair. LaCroix smiled from ear-to-ear as well as Nick. Scott escorted Jamie to LaCroix and he joined their hands. Nick reached for the chalice and passed it to LaCroix. Scott moved LaCroix's wrist, pulled out his knife, and sliced it slightly. The blood slowly dripped and filled the chalice a quarter of the way. Scott quickly wrapped his wrist to allow it to heal. LaCroix slowly handed the chalice to Jamie. She slowly accepted it and gazed into his eyes. She slowly lifted the chalice and drank his blood. She placed the chalice down and they slowly moved to the white candles. Scott and Nick each lit a candle, and LaCroix and Jamie picked up those candles. Together, they lit the candle in the middle and blew the others out. Scott stepped aside and Nick stood in his place. Nick pulled out the red velvet box and opened it. LaCroix removed Jamie's and gently placed it upon her finger. Jamie reached over and removed his. She slowly placed it upon his finger. They gazed into each other's eyes and kissed each other passionately. Nick placed the box upon the counter and stood aside. Scott took their hands with the rings and crossed them to seal the joining. Scott kissed Jamie and hugged LaCroix. He left them to pour the champagne for the toast. Nick gently kissed Jamie and welcomed her to the family. Nick turned to LaCroix grinned and they embraced each other warmly. Scott approached with a glass for everyone. Nick quietly cleared his throat. "You have had many centuries of anger, hate, and loneliness. When I received redemption, you witnessed a miracle, and you felt that power and saw a chance to share it. You were chosen for redemption, you now have a wife, life of happiness, love, and contentment. But mostly, a true family." Nick said. "I have a lot to be thankful for." LaCroix replied, happily. "I'm you're guide, but the reward is yours. Welcome to the love side." Nick said. "Thank you, that was very touching." LaCroix replied. "Thank you." Nick whispered. "Love and happiness," Scott said. They lifted up the glasses and touched them then drank to the toast. LaCroix and Jamie are truly joined. "I'll be upstairs." Jamie said. "You look troubled." LaCroix replied, concerned. "My father never replied." Jamie said. "Oh dear; after all that has happened, I forgot. Scott and I were giving some sad news." LaCroix replied. "And?" Jamie inquired. "I didn't want to ruin this night." LaCroix said, sadly. "I need to know." Jamie expressed, scared. "LaCroix," Nick said. "The Enforcers found her village." LaCroix said. "Oh no," Nick said. "My father?" Jamie queried. "I'm afraid so; I'm truly sorry." LaCroix said. Jamie exhaled, "I'll be upstairs." "I'll be there in a few." LaCroix said. "All right," Jamie replied, upset. "Scott, tend to Jamie." LaCroix requested. "No problem." Scott said. Scott slowly escorted Jamie into the back room and into their room. Scott went back to his duties and LaCroix stayed with Nick. "Poor Jamie," Nick uttered. "It completely slipped my mind." LaCroix replied, frustrated. "She understands, don't worry. If you need me, I'll be at home." Nick told him. LaCroix smiled, "Thank you." "Now, you will do the same at mine, except for the blood part." Nick said. "I'm honored." LaCroix replied, surprised. "As I am right now; have a wonderful wedding night." Nick suggested. "Thank you; night, Nicholas," LaCroix said. "Night, Lucien," Nick replied, warmly. Nick slowly left the club and drove home to Molly. LaCroix walked into the back room and upstairs. He entered his room and closed the door. He saw Jamie standing at the foot of the bed very still. He carefully approached her and stood by her side. "Jamie, I'm truly sorry." LaCroix expressed, sadly. "I know; I also knew this would happen eventually." Jamie said. "It can to all of us." LaCroix said. "True; the best thing to do is remember the life, not his death." Jamie quoted. "All right," LaCroix sighed, sadly. "That was a perfect ceremony, he would have been very proud." Jamie said. "I'm sure he is." LaCroix replied, warmly. "In a way, he was there." Jamie said, sniffing her tears back. "His spirit?" Jamie queried. "Do you believe that?" LaCroix asked. "Yes, you?" Jamie inquired. "Yes." LaCroix answered. "Let's celebrate our joining and we will have a candle ceremony for your father, later." "He would like that." Jamie said, smiling. "Jamie LaCroix, that sounds wonderful." "Feel's wonderful also." LaCroix replied, grinning. They affectionately kissed each other and LaCroix lifted Jamie upward into his arms and carried her to the bed. They lay down and made warm love all night into daylight. Nick just arrived home and entered the living room. He saw Molly sitting on the couch sound asleep. He quietly approached her and stroked her cheek. She woke to his boyish grin and Nick extended his hand to Molly. "Let's go to bed." Nick said. "Everything okay?" Molly asked. Nick smiled, "Perfect," "I just remembered something." Molly said. "What's that?" Nick asked. "I owe you a big one." Molly expressed, seductively. "Yes you do, but if you're tired." Nick replied. "I'm fine. Come on big boy." Molly said, squeezing his butt. Nick escorted Molly up the stairs and into their bedroom. They pulled the blankets down and stripped down. They climbed into bed and made love for the night. A long difficult case over so a new one can be born. For the first time in centuries, the evil one was married and filled with warm love. Maybe, someday soon, it will be human love, you think.
