Dark NN Christmas Challenge Story by Kayla Gayle Permission to archive. A little silly, or as silly as I can get. For KC, thanks for the card. ............................ It was a week after the wedding and Mr. and Mrs. Knight, also known as Nick and Natalie were honeymooning in a cabin deep in the woods of Canada. It was actually near the cabin that Schanke had kept and had given Nick the idea for a secluded honeymoon. And secluded it had to be for Nick and Natalie were also creatures of darkness, vampires to be exact. Nick had brought Nat across when he realized that he loved her and wanted her forever. The blood exchanges between them were passion itself. Nat, after initially rejecting blood, gave in to her darker self the moment she tasted Nick's essence. She realized it was life itself, more than life itself. It was everything and also recognized the mistakes she had made when trying to foolishly make Nick a human. Who would want to be human again? For now the honeymoon had been extended a few days for a freak blizzard had hit, a real storm from above the Arctic Circle. It was also a few days before Christmas, Nick's religion wanting an advent wedding. Or what was left of Nick's religion. For now, they were in bed, enjoying the pleasures of marriage. Right when it began to get interesting and the blood begin to flow, came a knock on the door. Reluctantly, Nick arose from the bed and put a robe around him. Nat also got up and put on a matching one. He made his way through the cozy cabin to the door and opened it. At first, he thought it was a joke, for no one could be seen. Then Nick looked down and into the face of a small man dressed in green in an outfit that would have fit Nick in medieval times, complete with shoes with curled toes. "About time, I've been knocking forever. This is the only cabin inhabited around here," said the strange man. He stomped his feet in the cold. "So, will you invite me in?" Nick apologized and stepped aside to let the visitor in. "Pardon the intrusion," said the man, looking from Nick to Nat who had just entered. "I didn't realize." "That's fine. I'm Natalie Knight and this is my husband Nick." "I'm Ethan." "So Ethan, dressed for the North Pole, huh?" "Actually I am. I was on vacation, you see and got lost in the snow. The train to Santa's Workshop is around here somewhere and I don't know where I am." This took the two vampires aback. They looked at each other. Surely this had to be a joke, but they could detect no lie in the man. "Where is the train station supposed to be?" "North of the bright star and west of there. But the storm blocked out the skies, so I cannot see." "What happens if you don't make it?" asked Nick. "Well," said Ethan, "as Head Elf in Charge of Electronic Toys, there will be a lot of disappointed children in the world." "You're right," admitted Nat, with a bit of a smile. "We can't have children walking around without their video games can we?" She turned to her husband. "I believe we can help Ethan out here." "How?" inquired Nick, who could be quite dense at times. "We fly, darling. We could fly above the storm, the cold won't affect us as much and try to find this station." Ethan clapped his hands in glee. "Oh, could you please? That would be great and Santa would be extra nice to you this year." So it was agreed and the vampires bundled up warm and found some warm socks and gloves for their little visitor that fit him up to his butt and armpits. but it was warm. The air up higher was warmer and they found themselves peacefully traveling by starlight. Flying was something Nat loved about being what she was. She could not think of another thing, besides the blood, to match it. Pretty soon, the train station was in site and a problem arose for the depot was in an old church. The church though was still consecrated so Nick landed down a few feet away and left Ethan there. His friend, Stanley Snowman was there anyway also waiting so he wasn't alone and then the two lovers flew back to their cozy cabin in the woods to pick up where they had left off. Stanley had cleared the skies for their trip back with an incantation, for he had been a magician in a former life before being changed. Back they flew and into the cabin to a rather rude surprise. "Congratulations!" said a rather drunken Janette, dressed as Mrs. Claus. "A Christmas wedding." She took another sip of bloodwine. "Or almost." "Yes, Nicolas. And our dear Doctor. Let me offer my felicitations as well." And Nick almost fainted to see Lucian LaCroix dressed in a white beard, black boots and a red coat. End
