ã2004 Coletti Course By: Cheryl Pillsbury They drove through the city and down the dusty roads leaving the busy city behind and entered the world of nature. The clean crisp air of the mountains covered in many shades of green and the rusted rocks along the top with a fog dancing upon the tips of the mountains. Gazed upward and saw the crystal blue skies, not a cloud in sight. They peeked out the side window and saw the sign for the campgrounds, Glen Rouge Campground. They carefully turned onto the dirt road that led them to a clearing. A small stream with a waterfall flowed over some small stones lying at the bottom. A few small fish swam around and the sounds of frogs in the distance. To their right, were a few hiking trails that were marked. Down at the bottom of the grounds, many campers parked in a row. To the far left, a huge meadow filled with bright colored flowers. The sunlight shined from above and gave the water a glassy shine. Paul pulled up out front of a cabin and Nick followed closely behind him. They carefully parked their cars and turned the engines off. They slowly climbed out of the cars and gave their bodies a huge stretch from the long ride. They leaned up against the trunks of their cars and closed their eyes. They inhaled deeply the crisp fresh air of the mountains, and the sweet scents of the flowers in the distance. Nick opened his eyes and slowly scanned the area. The sights he had never seen. Its beauty amazed him, and how it seemed untouched by time. Paul and Carla moved over to Nick and Molly and just stood quietly with them doing the same. "Well, what do you think?" Paul inquired. Molly exhaled and smiled, "Beautiful," Paul tapped Nick with his elbow, "Buddy?" Nick just glared in the distance, "Amazing," Paul relaxed with the words he heard, and clapped his hands together, "Good, okay. You ladies wait here while Nick and I take care of business." "Okay," Carla said. Paul took hold of Nick's jacket, pulling on him, "Let's go." Nick turned touching Molly's arm, and slowly walked up the path to the front door. Nick turned and saw Molly seeing the two of them laughing then talking very softly. Nick tugged Paul's sleeve and drew his attention down below. Paul opened the door; they walked into the cabin and stood by the counter. No one was there, so Paul rang the bell for service. Nick cleared his throat, "Why were they laughing?" Paul snickered at the question, "Us." "What?" Nick asked puzzled. Paul turned to face him, "They're comparing notes and they laugh to make us nervous." Nick looked to the door and then to Paul, "It worked." Paul looked behind the counter, "I know, me too." Suddenly, a man appeared from the back room strolling up to the counter and leaned upon it with his hands then smiled politely, "May I help you?" "Yeah, two cabins. Coletti and Knight." Paul explained. "Just a minute," The clerk replied. He pulled out his book looking up their names, and turned the book for them to see and sign, "Here it is; cash or credit?" Paul reached for his wallet pulling out his card and handed it to the clerk, "Credit." Nick also reached for his wallet and handed his card to the clerk. "Credit also." The clerk took the cards swiping them through, and gave them each a form to sign. He took the forms and handed them each proof of payment for their cabin. The clerk looked up and glanced over to Nick, "The roses arrived this morning. We placed them in a vase and they're sitting on the table like you requested." "Thanks," Nick replied. "You are a true hopeless romantic." Paul sighed grinning. "Yeah," Nick said proudly. Paul leaned over and whispered in his ear, "Teach me," "Later, let's go." Nick suggested. They slowly headed for the door and walked outside to join the ladies. Molly turned and gave Nick a quick squeeze around his waist. "Everything okay?" Molly asked. "Yeah, are you ready to go?" Nick inquired. "Yeah, let's unload and eat; I'm hungry." Molly requested softly. Nick returned the squeeze and smiled, "Okay, we'll unload and go, where?" Paul turned and jumped in, "There's a place down the road. Very nice." "Okay, let's go." Nick said agreeing. They each climbed into their own cars, and started the engines. Slowly drove up the hill, and arrived at their cabins. Paul pulled into the left one and Nick pulled into the right. Nick parked the car, and turned the engine off. He climbed out, and walked over to open Molly's door. He grabbed the heavy things, and she took what remained. They slowly walked up the sidewalk and up the stairs to the front door. Nick pulled out the key and unlocked the door. He let Molly pass by and he followed closely behind. Nick placed their things down and they looked around the cabin; they were mesmerized by the view. To the left, a cozy living room with a red brick fireplace in the corner, a small kitchen. A back door that led to the outside, and to the back a bedroom with the bathroom to the right side of them. Nick took the suitcases into the bedroom, and tossed them onto the bed. He unpacked his clothes and Molly filled up the kitchen with food and dishes. He slowly walked out and into the kitchen to meet up with Molly. "I left your bags on the bed; I'll be in the bathroom." Nick told her. "Thanks." Molly replied. Molly reached up and gave him a little kiss on the cheek. He walked to the bathroom and she went into the bedroom to unpack. She placed her clothes into the dresser and returned to the kitchen. Molly prepared the coffee maker. A flush came from the bathroom and he exited into the living room. Nick tossed his jacket onto the chair and joined Molly in the kitchen. As he met her, she walked by him and entered the bathroom. A few moments passed and a flush echoed. He saw Paul and Carla outside waiting. When Molly came out, they walked through the doorway and locked the door on the way out. They carefully walked down the stairs, and greeted them. Molly turned to Nick and quietly drew his attention, "Thank you for the roses." "You're welcome." Nick said. "Let's have fun," Molly suggested. "Fun," Nick whispered. "Yeah," Molly replied. "Okay," Nick said. "Where to?" Nick asked Paul. "There's a steak house about a quarter of a mile down the road." Paul suggested. "Let's go." Nick agreed. Nick escorted Molly to her side of the car and opened her door. Nick walked back to his side and waited on Paul. He walked Carla to her side of the car and she climbed into the back seat. Paul closed the door and met up with Nick. They climbed in, and Nick started the engine carefully pulling out, and drove down the dirt road following Paul's direction. About a mile or so down the road, they came to the restaurant. Paul pointed in the direction to turn and Nick complied. He saw a free spot next to the front door and pulled in. He turned the engine off stepping out, and strolled over to Molly's side then opened her door. Paul copied his actions for Carla. They walked, hand in hand, into the restaurant and waited. It had a very backwoods appearance to it; food cooked over charcoal and draft beer on tap. Candles and some electric lights lit the place. The hostess came along and escorted them to a cozy booth in the back corner. The ladies climbed in first and the men followed. Nick and Molly sat close together and touched fingers while they waited. The waitress came over with a smile and waited patiently for their order. She gave them a menu to read and Nick handed it back. "Two beers; I'll have the steak and Molly…?" Nick requested. "Same," Molly replied. Paul and Carla looked at the menu and each other, "The same," "Thank you," The waitress said politely. They enjoyed light conversation while they waited. About thirty minutes passed and the waitress returned with their meal and beers. She carefully placed them down and left. They slowly dug into the meal and the warm atmosphere that surrounded them. After about an hour or so of talking and eating, Molly reached over and touched Nick's forearm to draw his attention. He glanced over and saw her tired eyes. "Okay, guys, I hate to be a spoil sport, but I'm very tired." Molly said. "Okay, I'm ready; you two?" Nick agreed. "Oh yeah," Paul said yawning. Nick and Paul reached for their wallets pulling out the money for the meal, and slowly exited the restaurant. Nick and Molly continued to hold hands and they escorted their ladies to the car. Nick and Paul went to their side and climbed in. Nick started the engine carefully pulling out and headed back down the road to the cabins. He slowly drove up the dirt road pulling into the driveway and turned the engine off. They climbed out and walked over to help the ladies. Paul and Carla walked over to their cabin. Nick walked Molly up the path and up the stairs to the front door. He unlocked the door letting Molly pass by and entered, then locked the door as he closed it behind him. Molly strolled into the living room and collapsed onto the couch. Nick strolled over behind her, slowly massaging her shoulders and neck. "Can I get you anything?" Nick asked. Molly hesitated for a few and looked up at him, "Some hot tea and a fire; its a little cold." Nick bent down and kissed her forehead, "Done." Nick walked into the kitchen, filled up the teapot and placed it on the stove to heat. Then strolled into the living room and squatted down to start a fire. As the fire built, warming up the room; he opened the vents so it wouldn't get too smoky. The fire was bright reds, yellows, and orange. He walked back to the kitchen fixing two mugs with teabags and turned the water off. Nick poured the water into the mugs and carefully carried the mugs into the room. As Nick did all of this, Molly was observing every move he made. Nick took notice in the staring and grinned at her. He handed one mug to her and joined her on the couch, very close. They each sipped the tea and exhaled slowly. "Having a good time, so far?" Nick questioned. "Yes, it's beautiful here," Molly replied. "Yes it is, tomorrow, we go our separate ways. What would you like to do?" Nick inquired. Molly took a few moments to think, "Go hiking, and bring a picnic lunch." "Okay," Nick agreed. Molly placed her mug down and turned to Nick, "I'm tired, I'm going to bed." "I'll clean up and join you." Nick suggested. "Great," Molly said. Molly reached over kissing him gently and he returned the kiss. She passed by him and headed for the bedroom. Nick stood up grabbing the mugs and took them into the kitchen then placed them into the sink. He returned to the living room, and fenced the fire off, lowering the flames so it would be safe for the night. He strolled over to the bathroom and entered. He closed the door halfway and a few moments passed, the toilet flushed. He walked out and entered the bedroom. He stripped down to his pants and tossed his clothes onto the chair. He walked over to the dresser grabbing a pair of lounge pants and carefully removed his pants then sat down on the bed. He put on the lounge pants and stood. He tied them and slowly crawled into bed with Molly. She turned over to face him, and returned the gesture. "Thanks for a wonderful dinner." Molly said. "Thanks for being here." Nick replied. "Same here, night, Nick," Molly said softly. "Night, love you," Nick replied warmly. "Love you, too," Molly whispered. Nick reached over kissing her very gently and lowered himself into the covers then drifted off to dream land. In the distance, you heard the sweet sounds of nature. Crickets were chirping, the frogs were croaking, and the owls were hooting. The night hours passed slowly and the sunrise shined into their bedroom waking Molly up. She looked up and saw Nick still sleeping. She leaned over to kiss his soft lips giving his chest a little kiss and a massage. Nick slowly woke up and smiled down at Molly. "Morning," Nick said. Molly grinned, "Morning," Nick woke up more and saw her eyes, "What can I do for you?" Molly looked into his blue eyes, "Love me." "I do," Nick said smiling. Molly rubbed his stomach and placed her hand under the blanket, "Show me." Nick felt her thought gently rolling over and caressed her warmly. They held kissing and touched each other very passionately then the morning time slipped away. Molly wrapped her arms around him as he did in return. "That's the best way to wake up." Molly said smiling. "True," Nick whispered. "I'll shower and make breakfast." Molly suggested. "Let me know when you're done." Nick replied. Molly placed a grin on her face; "I'll wash your back, if you wash mine." Nick had a bigger grin than her, "Deal." They slowly washed and massaged each other with the warm water and tons of suds. Molly climbed out first and dried off. Nick remained to finish cleaning up. Molly walked down to the bedroom, and walked over to her dresser pulling out casual clothes. She strolled into the kitchen and prepared a big breakfast for them. Meanwhile, Nick was just finishing his hair and turned the water off. He carefully stepped out and dried himself off. He took two steps toward the toilet and a few seconds later, a flush. He wrapped the towel around his waist and walked to the bedroom. He too, grabbed casual clothes and strolled into the kitchen with Molly. He wrapped his hands around her waist and inhaled the sweet scents of breakfast cooking. "Smells great," Nick said warmly. "The coffee is in the living room. Here's a fork, grab a plate, and let's go." Molly suggested. They slowly walked into the living room sitting on the floor with the table in front of them and leaned on the couch. "That was great," Nick said, rubbing his stomach. Molly looked at the plate, and it was spotless, "Are you still hungry? I can make more." "No, thank you; I'm fine. Did you decide on what trail and lunch?" Nick asked. Molly turned to face him, "How about the Deer Trail, and make some sandwiches and ice-tea?" Nick paused for a moment, "Sounds good." As they finished their coffee, a knock came from the door. It opened with a creak, and Paul and Carla walked in, closing the door behind them. "Are you guys decent?" Paul asked laughing. Nick grinned, "No," "Good," Paul replied Nick let out a slight laugh, "I said no." Paul waved his hand to Nick, "You don't know how to be indecent." Nick looked at Molly, "I'll learn." "What are you two doing today?" Paul inquired. Nick looked up to Carla, "Hi, Carla," "Hi," Carla said smiling. "Sorry," Paul said lowering his eyes. Molly looked to Paul, "Deer Trail with a picnic." "You two?" Nick inquired. "Fishing and a picnic. Want to meet for dinner later?" Paul asked. Nick looked to Molly then towards Paul, "Here, I'll cook," "Sounds great," Paul said grinning. Paul looked to Carla, "Carla…?" "Deal," Carla agreed. "I'll get some wine." Paul suggested. "Cool," Molly said. "Deal, let's go, see you guys later. Have fun." Nick said. Paul then suddenly turned and looked at them, "Oh, and don't get lost." Nick just scoffed at him, "Very funny." Molly felt the need to get even, "Don't fall in," "Ha-ha-ha," Nick chuckled. Nick patted Molly on her back for a great come back. Paul and Carla slowly left the cabin, leaving Nick and Molly alone. Molly took the dishes into the kitchen, Nick grabbed the blankets and things they would need for the hike. Molly slowly packed the picnic basket. As he finished rolling up the blankets, Molly met him at the door. Nick opened the door letting Molly pass and he followed behind locking the door. They carefully walked down the stairs, down the path and strolled up to the Deer Trail. They observed every ounce of scenery. There were many different types of trees and bushes of many shades of green. The ground covered in pine needles. Suddenly, they heard a cracking noise in the woods and they stopped moving. Molly moved closer to Nick and they looked all around them. Off to their far right, a full grown female deer with its fawn along her side. They quietly looked and amazed by the view. After about two hours or so, they came to a clearing with wooden tables. They stopped to rest and have lunch. They picked a table and strolled towards it, "Did you see that?" "They were so beautiful," Molly said. "The scenery is unbelievable," Nick expressed, exhaling. "Yes it is," Molly agreed. "Let's set it up," Nick suggested. "Okay," Molly whispered. Nick carefully unrolled the blanket and covered the table. Molly slowly began to unpack the basket, and placed the food upon the table. Molly placed two glasses down, and poured the ice-tea. They carefully sat across from each other. Molly looked at Nick then away, then towards him again. "Nick, would like you to meet my mother, and brother?" Molly asked. "Yes, love to," Nick replied. "Maybe, have dinner? I would love them to meet you." Molly said. "I would like that, let me know where and when." Nick suggested. "Great," Molly said happily. As they finished the last of the ice-tea, Molly noticed her watch and looked to Nick, "It's getting late. We should head back." "Okay," Nick sighed. Molly placed the things into the basket, and Nick folded the blanket. He tossed it over his shoulder and they slowly made their way down the trail gazing at the scenery, hand-in-hand. ***** Meanwhile, back at the pond, Paul and Carla were sitting very close together fishing and drinking a glass of wine. Tall trees and soft sand surrounded the pond. Benches along the water for people to sit and enjoy the scenery. A small cabin to the right to change your clothes for swimming, and restrooms on the left. Paul placed his glass down and looked to Carla, "Excuse for a moment," "Hurry back," Carla whispered. "Will do," Paul replied eagerly. Paul slowly stood brushing his clothes off, and strolled over to the cabin. He cautiously walked into the men's room and looked around. He saw an empty stall at the end strolling down and entered. He closed the door and attended to his business. As he stood, he heard men talking in the distance. He stayed quiet so he could hear them. They were discussing a big shipment arriving shortly and they would leave tomorrow to conduct their business. As he flushed the toilet opening the door, but the two men had left. He went over and washed his hands. He slowly walked out of the restroom and crashed into a tall person coming in. They gave each other a long stare and they separated. Paul saw Carla in the distance, and took in a deep breath of fresh air to settle his nerves. He sat down by her side leaning over and kissed her cheek very warmly. "What's that for?" Carla inquired. "I missed you," Paul whispered. "Paul," Carla laughed slightly. "Let's head back, and we'll wait for them at their cabin." Paul suggested. "Okay," Carla said. Paul and Carla started packing up the fishing gear and the basket, and slowly headed back to their cabin. They slowly walked up the path and up the stairs. Paul unlocked the door and they took the stuff in. They each took turns using the bathroom. Carla started the shower and Paul heard the water. She stepped in, but Paul walked in the bathroom and began to strip down. Carla saw him and smiled. He stepped in sharing the shower and each other with very warm passion. Paul stepped out and dried off. He strolled down to the bedroom and grabbed clean clothes. Carla soon followed behind him. As they were getting dressed, Nick and Molly finally arrived home. Paul looked out the window and saw Nick closing the door. Carla sneaked up behind him wrapping her arms around his waist. He turned embracing the same hug. "Let's grab the wine and go over for some food, and fun." Paul said. "Great, it's on the shelf." Carla told him. "Okay," Paul whispered. Paul strolled over to the shelf in the kitchen and grabbed the wine, "Got it, let's go," Paul opened the door letting her pass and followed closely behind. He locked the door and strolled down the stairs. He quickly walked over to Nick's cabin and up the stairs. Inside the cabin, Nick and Molly were relaxing on the couch. "This is so relaxing." Nick sighed softly. "I wish it could last forever." Molly implied. "It can." Nick replied grinning. Molly turned her head and looked into his eyes, "What do you wish for?" Suddenly, a knock came from the door, "He had better timing. We need to talk, but later." Nick said. "Okay, let them in and I'll get the glasses." Molly replied. "Okay," Nick sighed. Nick walked over to the door and opened it. They entered the cabin and strolled into the living room. They sat on the floor by the fire. Molly came in with four glasses and saw everyone was on the floor by the fire. Nick had the best seat, and helped Molly join him. She passed them the other two glasses and Paul filled them. They faced each other and made a toast to each other, to their friendship and love. After they swallowed the wine, Nick looked to Paul, "I was thinking of cooking some burgers." "Great," Nick agreed. "Yeah," Molly replied. "I'll help, let's go." Paul said. The ladies sat closer together while the men stood up and walked into the kitchen to prepare the meat for cooking. Paul looked and saw the ladies were busy talking. He tugged on Nick's shirt to draw his attention. "Back at the pond, I walked into the men's room and while I was occupied, I heard two men talking about a shipment and a car. That it arrives tonight and it goes into the city." Paul told him. "What kind of shipment?" Nick asked. "Don't know," Paul answered. "Did you know them?" Nick questioned. "No," Paul said. Nick thought, "It might be nothing." Paul sighed, "I guess." "Come on, we're hungry," Nick said. Paul hesitated, but gave in. They finished preparing the burgers, opening the door to the outside and lit up the grill. While Paul watched the food, Nick went back inside and set the table romantically. All the candles lit, and the good plates displayed. He went back outside and helped him finish the meal. Paul placed them on a plate and they shut the grill down then went inside where the ladies were waiting for them at the table. Molly filled the glasses again and they were waiting for the food. Nick and Paul walked over to the table placing the food down, and sat next to their own lady. Nick noticed the rolls were not toasted so he picked them up strolling back, and toasted the rolls. Paul entertained the ladies. They enjoyed a great meal with small talk and a few laughs. ***** Meanwhile, on the other side of the campgrounds, the trailer on the far left side in the back, there was a lot of noise and lights. A pickup truck backed in and parked out front of the trailer. The driver stepped out and knocked on the door. "Ray, you're late," John said. "I got held up, so what's the word?" Ray asked. John let him in and closed the door behind him. He showed him to a chair and grabbed four beers. "Phil, Larry, come out here," John yelled. The other two men entered the kitchen area and all sat down. They each grabbed a beer and waited for John to start. John took a big gulp of beer and belched, "Okay, the word is, the shipment arrives tonight and we'll head back shortly after that. The stuff is already in small packets and all we got to do is fill the bottles in the cars, get paid and done." "Do we have drivers already?" Phil asked. "Yeah, two, the first driver will meet us Friday night at the garage, and the second, Monday night. I'm still looking for one more." John said. "Problems?" Phil inquired. "None, so far," John replied. "When do we get paid?" Ray asked. "After the third run, the money will be put into the account and divided up." John explained. "Cool," Larry said. "Let's go eat and get back. I don't want to be late." John expressed strongly. "Let's go," Phil said. They left the bottles on the table and headed out to Ray's truck. Two sat up front, and the other two in the back seat of the Blazer truck. As he started the engine, they discussed the trip further. ***** Nick and Paul were in their neutral corners snuggling with their lady near the fireplace. "That was a great meal guys." Molly said. "Thank you," Nick said politely. "Yes it was," Carla said agreeing with Molly. Paul bowed at Carla, "You're welcome my lady." "Okay, we have one more day. What's left to do?" Nick asked. "Let's trade," Paul suggested loudly. "What?" Nick asked confused. "We'll go hiking, and you two go fishing. You might have better luck." Paul hinted. "Molly?" Nick asked quietly. "Okay," Molly answered. "Done," Nick said. "If you catch anything, that's dinner." Paul said firmly. "Okay," Nick said. Carla noticed her watch and looked at Paul, "It's getting late, let's head out and we'll get an early start." "Okay, Ciao people." Paul said standing up and helped Carla. Nick stood to escort them to the door, "Later." Molly sat on the floor, "Bye." Molly tugged at the pants for him to stay, "Lock the door." Nick shouted. "Sure," Paul said. Paul let Carla lead the way out as Paul closed and locked the door on his way out. Molly reached for a few pillows from the couch and tossed them onto the floor in front of the fire. She slowly lay back upon the pillows with Nick looking down upon her and lay alongside of her to cuddle. Nick pushed the hair out of her eyes and smiled, "You okay?" "Fine, you wanted to talk about something." Molly reminded him. Nick hesitated, "Yeah, but…" "What is it?" Molly asked. "Are we a steady couple?" Nick inquired shyly. Molly paused, "Yeah; I guess so." "Are you happy, satisfied?" Nick questioned. Molly smiled warmly to him, "Completely, you?" "Very much, is there anything I'm not doing or saying? You need or want?" Nick asked. Molly touched his cheek and drew his face to hers, "Everything is wonderful, you?" "I love what's happening; I don't want it to ever end." Nick replied warmly. "Same here; I guess we're going steady now." Molly told him. Nick slowly leaned over gently stroking her hair and gazed into her eyes. She smiled warmly and her eyes shone from the glare of the fire. Nick leaned closer to her and caressed her moist lips. She reached up and stroked his upper arm. He returned the same gesture and gently rubbed her stomach. He slowly ran his hand down her leg and back up, on the inside. The heat of the fire intensified their passion, and they made love all night long by the fireplace. As the fire slowly burned down, the sun slowly rose up, and shined through the windows waking Nick up. He grabbed the blanket off the couch and covered up Molly. He quickly ran to the bathroom and just made it. A few moments passed, a flush then the shower ran. He cleaned up and washed his golden hair. He turned the water off and carefully stepped out. As he dried off, there was a knock on the door. He wrapped the towel around his waist and opened the door, its Molly all wrapped up in a blanket. "Yes," Nick said. "Got to go," Molly replied. "Okay," Nick said stepping aside. Nick kissed her quickly as she passed by him and he closed the door behind. Nick strolled into the bedroom walking over to the dresser and pulled out some clothes. He stepped over to the bed and tossed the clothes down. He pulled the towel off and tossed that onto the bed. He slowly began to get dressed. Nick strolled into the kitchen and got the coffee maker started. Slid over to the fridge and opened the door. He grabbed the eggs and bacon, and closed the door. He grabbed the dishes walking over to the table and set it up romantically. As he walked back, he saw Molly getting dressed in the bedroom. He flipped the food over and then grabbed the silverware and two mugs then placed those onto the table. Molly strolled over to table and met up with Nick. He kissed her warmly pulling her chair out and she sat down. He walked back into the kitchen grabbing the food and placed it on the plates. He picked up the plates and strutted back to Molly. He carefully placed the plate down and sat down with his plate. He reached over picking up the coffee pot and poured the coffee. Molly took in a big bite and slowly chewed with a smile shining upon her face, "This is wonderful," "Thank you," Nick replied proudly. "Nick?" Molly started. "Yes," Nick said. "Do you know how to fish?" Molly asked. Nick hesitated for a few, "I think so, do you?" "A little bit," Molly hesitated answering. "Picnic?" Nick hinted. "Oh yeah, always," Molly smiled. "Great, let's clean up and get going." Nick said eagerly. "Cool," Molly said laughing. Nick smirked, "Been hanging around Paul?" "It's your fault, he's your partner. Carla is a new friend, so…" Molly told him. "Cool," Nick chuckled. Molly waved her arms, "Enough, come on." They cleaned up the kitchen and packed the lunch for the fishing trip. Nick stepped over grabbing their jackets, and picked up the heavy stuff while Molly carried the food. They checked everything and made their way to the front door. They carefully exited the cabin locking the door and made their way to the fishing pond. ***** Meanwhile, on the other end of the campgrounds, over by the trailer park, a truck driver started the engine and John came running out to meet the driver. "Hey," John said. "Hey," The driver returned. "Got the stuff?" John inquired. "In the back, hurry up," The driver insisted. "You're late," John expressed. "Sorry," The driver sighed. John walked back to the door and opened it. He yelled inside, "Phil, give me a hand," Phil stumbled outside and met John at the back of the truck. They began to unload and placed the crates on the ground. The truck driver put the truck in gear and drove off fast. They each picked up a crate carrying them inside and placed them on the table. Phil walked to the back, and found a crowbar then brought it to John. He very carefully opened one of the crates. Phil removed all the paper and John took a gentle hold of one of the packets then broke it with his finger. He lightly touched his tongue, and tasted it. "Well?" Phil asked. "That's the good stuff." John answered. Phil picked up the cover, and placed it on top of the crate then banged it shut. "Great, let's go, we've been here too long." Phil suggested. "Let's go, place these on the floor." John requested. Phil lowered the crates while John made his way up front and started the engine. He carefully drove out of the park, down the dirt road and headed back to the city. ****** Back at the pond, Molly and Nick were sitting along the water and relaxing. Paul and Carla were enjoying the view on the hike. Suddenly, Nick's fish line started to jump. Molly saw it and tapped his arm to draw his attention to it. He carefully pulled on it and reeled in a big fish. Molly grabbed the bucket and placed the fish into it. Nick added more bait to his hook and tossed it back into the water. He slowly lowered his head. "Nick, what's wrong?" Molly asked. Nick sighed, "Vacation is over," "Yeah it is, but we can do it again." Molly told him. "True," Nick sighed. Nick looked around and saw the cabin that Paul had mentioned. Nick looked to Molly and pointed in the direction he was going, "I'll be right back," "I'll be waiting," Molly said warmly. "Good," Nick said happily. Nick gave her a quick kiss and stood up. He brushed off his clothes and started to walk to the cabin. He entered the men's room, and looked then saw an empty stall at the back. He entered and closed the door behind him. A few moments passed with a flush at the end. He opened the door, and walked over to the sink washing his hands. As reached for the paper towels; he saw a small packet on the floor. He dried his hands and bent over to pick it up. He examined it and carefully placing it into his pocket and headed out of the restroom. He strolled back to Molly who was waiting patiently for him. He saw Paul and Carla approaching Molly. "One fish," Paul said. "So," Nick said. "That's not enough for four." Paul replied. "Eat out?" Nick suggested. "Order in," Carla replied. "Cool," Molly said "Order what?" Nick asked. "Pizza," Paul suggested. "Cool," Carla agreed with him. "Our place," Nick said. "What about the fish?" Molly asked Nick. "Put him back," Nick said softly. "Okay," Molly said all smiles. Molly stood and picked up the bucket. Nick reached in and gently tossing the fish into the water and it quickly swam away. The men picked up the stuff and the girls carried the baskets. The ladies walked a little ahead of the men, and the guys just watched them giggle. Nick tugged on Paul's jacket to hang back a little more. "Paul, I was in the men's room and I found this." Nick said. Paul rolled it around in his fingers and examined it very closely, "Is that…?" "Think so," Nick replied. "Those two guys I saw," Paul implied. "They saw you," Nick said, fearing for his friend. "Yeah," Paul replied. "Do you know where they were staying?" Nick asked. "They didn't say," Paul answered. "How about names?" Nick questioned. "No," Paul said. Molly took a peek behind her and saw them dragging behind, "Hey, guys, pick up the pace. What are you doing back there?" "Talking," Nick said. "Guy stuff," Paul added. "Boring," Carla yelled. "Do we tell them?" Paul asked. "Tell them what? We'll have Doc test it tomorrow." Nick suggested. Paul sighed, "Cool, let's finish vacation before work." "Cool." Nick whispered. "Funny," Paul laughed. "Let's eat," Nick replied. They arrived at Nick's cabin, and slowly walked up the path then up the stairs. Nick pulled the key from his pocket and unlocked the door. Nick stepped aside and let the ladies pass by as Paul walked in with Nick. The ladies strolled into the living room and collapsed on the couch while Nick put things away. Paul walked over to the phone and the card. He read the number and dialed the phone. He hung up the phone and joined the ladies as Nick followed closely behind him. Nick sat down by the fireplace, but seemed very quiet, which disturbed Molly. She quietly stood up and walked over to him then sat down by his side. Molly leaned over and touched his forearm to draw his attention to her. "Nick, what's wrong?" Molly asked. "Nothing, its okay," Nick replied. Molly squeezed his arm slightly and looked deep into his blue eyes, "Nick, you're eyes say something else." Nick felt he could not hide it, "Paul overheard two guys talking about a shipment. And while I was washing my hands, I found a small cellophane bag with a white powder in it." "Is it drugs?" Molly inquired. "Not sure; I'll have Doc test it tomorrow after we're home." Nick said. "That's a good idea. What else is bothering you?" Molly inquired further. Nick sighed, "Drugs here; at this place," "It's sad I know," Molly whispered. Nick gave his face a quick rub with his hands, "Vacation isn't quite over yet, and I have my first case already." "I'm sorry Nick. Let's finish our trip and work later, okay?" Molly suggested. Nick tried to smile, "Okay," Nick warmly leaned over kissing her moist lips and she returned the kiss. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Paul stood up and walked over to the door. The pizza has arrived reaching into his pocket, and pulled out the money then paid the man. He carefully carried the pizza in and placed it on the table. Paul strolled into the kitchen and grabbed the paper plates, napkins, and four beers. He strolled back and joined the rest of them in the last meal of the trip. ***** Meanwhile, back at home, but on the South Side. A huge eighteen-wheeler truck backed into an auto body shop and two men opened the door then helped the truck back up. The driver set the brakes so the truck would not roll. He turned the engine off, and climbed out. John and Phil helped the driver and his partners unload the truck. "Okay, guys, unload the truck and pile them next to my office door." John ordered. "Okay, let's go." One driver said. They unloaded and Philip opened the crates to make sure it was all there. He checked it off on his paper work as each crate came in. The last crate came in and John escorted the people out of the building. He returned to Philip who proceeded to inform him of the order. "John, we're about ten ounces short." Phil reported. John became angry; "It was all here when we left camp." "Yeah, I know," Phil replied. "Did you go anywhere up there?" John asked. Phil hesitated for the moment, "The men's room; damn. Ray and I walked into the men's room and this guy crashed into Ray. A bag must have fallen on the floor." "If he's got it…?" John replied. "I'll find him, and he's history." Phil said firmly. "How?" John asked. "Don't worry, its done." Phil stated. "Keep me posted. I'm worried he saw you and Ray." John said concerned. "Let's finish this; I'm beat." Phil suggested. "Let's go," John sighed. They finished the job and Philip planned how he would find the gentleman he bumped into. ***** Back up at Glen Rouge, Paul and Carla left their cabin and slowly walked back to their home. Nick and Molly were sitting very cozy on the couch. "This was fantastic. I hate to leave." Molly replied. "Same here," Nick sighed. Molly let out a long sigh, "The Gallery is receiving some paintings that were brought over from France." "I'll make sure to catch those." Nick said interested. "Great, but sadly, it will keep me very busy." Molly implied. "Same here, but drugs." Nick responded. "Sorry," Molly whispered. "I have a feeling this will be a rough case with sadness." Nick replied feeling uneasy. Molly turned her head to face him, "I'm here for you," "Thank you; I love you," Nick replied warmly. "Love you, too, darling," Molly whispered. "Let's go to bed, we have a long ride home." Nick suggested. Molly whispered, "Okay," "You start in; I need to use the bathroom." Nick told her. "I'll be waiting," Molly replied seductively. "I'll hurry," Nick said grinning. "Go," Molly said kissing his cheek. Molly leaned over and kissed him tenderly upon his moist lips. She strolled to the bedroom as Nick stood, and ran to the bathroom. After a few moments, a flush and washed his hands. He exited walking down to the bedroom and saw Molly under the blanket; no clothes. Nick displayed his boyish grin and stripped down. He crawled under the blanket and caressed Molly all night long. ***** Back at Sanz Auto, John opened for business. Ray and Larry were working on the cars. John was in the office working on the orders. Suddenly Philip came running in, and all winded and tired. "What is it?" John asked. "I found out who that guy was." Phil said proudly. "Who?" John replied happily. "A, Paul Coletti, he lives about two blocks from here." Phil told him. "Set up a welcoming committee for him." John instructed him. "Got it," Phil said smiling. "Alive." John insisted. "Got it," Phil said. "Take Ray with you. Make sure it looks clean and no witnesses." John expressed. "Okay, where do you want him?" Phil inquired. "Put him in the spare room downstairs. We need to finish the job here then we'll pack up." John replied. "And the guy?" Phil questioned. "Tragic fire," John said laughing. "Cool," Phil agreeing. Philip left his office closing the door behind him and headed for Ray's direction. Philip caught his attention and waved him on to follow. They walked outside and took the truck. They climbed in and Philip started the engine. They slowly drove to Paul's place and parked off to the side to watch for him to arrive. Ray looked all around and then to Philip, "When's he due?" "Don't know, but we wait." Phil told him. "Okay," Ray uttered. ***** Back at the mountains, Paul and Carla had already packed up and locked up the cabin. They drove the truck over to Nick's cabin and saw no lights on. They quietly walked up the path and knocked on the door. Nick woke up and struggled to see the time. He stumbled out of bed grabbing his lounge pants and slid into them. As he tied them, he staggered to the door and opened it. "OOPS," Paul said grinning. "Overslept," Nick replied. "Late night," Paul suggested. "Yeah," Nick yawned. Paul snickered and tried to keep a straight face, "Tell you what, we'll go get breakfast, and bring it here, eat and then go, okay?" "Great; I'll buy lunch later." Nick said. "Deal," Paul said laughing. Paul and Carla slowly turned and strolled down the stairs to the truck. They climbed in and he started the engine. He carefully backed out and left. Nick closed the door and strolled back into the bedroom where Molly was still sleeping. He carefully lay on the bed next to her and kissed her ever so sweetly. She woke up and saw the smile on his face. "Morning, we're late," Nick said. "Didn't we set the alarm?" Molly asked. "Apparently not; I'll shower then you." Nick told her. Molly smiled, "Why waste water?" "I was hoping you would say that. Paul and Carla were here. They're bringing breakfast." Nick replied eagerly. "Let's go," Molly said warmly. They both left the bedroom and Nick tapped her arm, "Give me two minutes." "Sure," Molly whispered. Nick walked in and a few seconds passed; a flush. He opened the door and let Molly in. He started the shower and Molly stepped in first then Nick. The warmth of the water running over their bodies intensified their passion and they made love in the shower. They helped each other get clean. As he turned the water off, he heard the door open and close. He quickly grabbed a towel and dried off. He wrapped the towel around his waist and exited the bathroom leaving Molly in there alone. He saw them sitting over by the fireplace, he waved hello and headed for the bedroom. He grabbed some clothes and proceeded to get dressed. A few moments later, a flush, and Molly stepped out of the bathroom, and ran to the bedroom then joined Nick in getting dressed. They both walked into the kitchen, and grabbed a few bottles of juice and joined them by the fireplace. They sat in a circle around the fire, and Paul set out the food and Nick handed out the juice. "Here's the food. How was the shower?" Paul asked. "Great," Nick grinned. "All we have to do is check out and return the keys." Paul told him. "Work tomorrow," Nick said. "Fantasy over and reality in." Paul replied. "Oh well, Molly thought a beach trip in the summer would be fun." Nick suggested, "I've never been there either." Paul was in shock, "Where have you been hiding?" "Don't know," Nick replied. "We'll clean up, you two pack, and we'll meet outside." Paul said. "Okay," Nick whispered. Paul and Carla began to clean up and made sure it was clean. Nick and Molly strolled to the bedroom and quickly packed their clothes and things. Nick ran to the bathroom, and grabbed their things from there then returned to Molly. Paul and Carla grabbed what they could to help, and ran outside with it and waited for them at the truck. Nick and Molly slowly walked out of the bedroom, but Nick hesitated at the front door. Molly gently rubbed his back, "What's wrong?" "I feel sad about leaving." Nick shared. "So do I, we had so much fun." Molly agreed. Nick turned to face her, "Here, it was just us, but now, we go back to a city full of people." "Yeah, but we're still together. The trip ends, not us." Molly told him. "I know," Nick uttered. "You also need to see LaCroix." Molly said. "I missed being around him." Nick said softly. "I know; I'll be at home resting. You plan a night with him, a night of fun." Molly suggested. "Okay," Nick agreed. They warmly kissed each other picking up their things and slowly left the cabin behind. They strolled down the stairs and met up with them outside. Nick packed up the car and opened the door for Molly. He strolled over to his side and climbed in. He started the engine and carefully followed Paul to the small cabin to check out. Paul climbed out of the truck, and ran back to Nick taking his key. He ran up turning the keys in and ran back out to the truck. He climbed in taking the truck out of park and slowly began the long ride home. Paul and Carla went in one direction after the two-hour drive, and Nick and Molly went their way. Molly snuggled up against Nick's shoulder and he slowly drove her home. Nick approached the parking lot and found a spot just out front of the building. He parked the car and helped her with her things. They slowly walked up the path and into the building. They approached her front door and placed her things down. Molly searched for her key and opened the door. Nick picked up her things and carried them in behind Molly. He placed them onto the couch and turns to Molly. "Do you need help unpacking?" Nick asked. "I'll be fine, give LaCroix a big hug for me." Molly suggested. "Okay, are you sure?" Nick sighed. "Very sure, love you," Molly said kissing her cheek. "Love you, too," Nick said returning the kiss. Nick turned and slowly left her apartment. Molly closed the door strolling down the corridor and to the door to the outside. He carefully climbed back into his car and started the engine. He pulled out and headed for home. Shortly after Paul dropped Carla off at home, he pulled into his parking lot of his home. He noticed the guard was missing, but too tired to look for him. He slowly scanned the area for a spot and found one near the door. Philip slowly followed him in and parked next to him. Ray tapped the window to draw his attention, "Your lights are out." Paul looks up, "What?" "Your brake lights are out." Ray said. Paul feeling frustrated hit the steering wheel and unlocked the door, "Oh man." Paul stepped out of the truck turning slightly and caught a glimpse of Philip sitting in the truck. Ray grabbed his upper arm and stuck a needle into his arm then Paul collapsed into Ray's arms. Ray opened the door pushing him in and sat down next to him. They quickly drove out of the parking lot and headed back to Sanz. They arrived at the garage and turned the engine off. Philip helped Ray carry Paul downstairs to the spare room and tossed him onto the cot. They searched and removed everything from his pockets. They left him on the bed and quickly exited the room. They locked the door behind them and walked back up to John's office. Nick entered his home very tired. He stumbled over to the couch and dropped everything onto the floor. Nick stood by the couch and completely collapsed upon it. He covered his eyes with his forearm. LaCroix caught a whisper of the noise downstairs and swooped down to look. He saw Nick lying very still on the couch. He strolled over sitting on the chair and glared at him. "Nicholas?" LaCroix whispered. Nick peeked out from his arm and saw him sitting there staring down at him. "LaCroix, how are you?" Nick asked. They both stood and greeted each other with a warm hug and returned to their seats. "Welcome home," LaCroix said. "Thanks," Nick sighed. "How was the trip?" LaCroix asked. Nick suddenly sat up with an urge to run, "Great, make some coffee, and we'll talk. Right now, I got to go." Nick ran up the stairs heading for his room and the bathroom. He barely made it and a few moments passed, and flush. He slowly left the bathroom fixing his pants. He slowly left the room and headed back downstairs. As he approached the last step, he saw LaCroix sitting in the living room with a pot of coffee and two mugs. He strolled in and sat down by his side. LaCroix poured him a cup and he leaned into the couch to relax. "We went hiking, fishing, and enjoyed quiet times by the fireplace." Nick briefed him. "And Molly?" LaCroix inquired. Nick placed a big grin on his face, "Fantastic." "I see; I sense a peaceful feeling around you," LaCroix said inhaling. "I am; what did you do?" Nick asked. "The usual, Scott has returned and works in the Raven." LaCroix told him. "Great, no girls," Nick inquired. "Nicholas," LaCroix replied. "How about we order in and watch a movie?" Nick suggested. "No horror classics." LaCroix insisted. Nick hesitated for the moment, "How about a western?" "All right," LaCroix agreed. Nick clapped his hands in a little excitement, "I'll put this stuff away and call for food." "I will call Scott and place him in charge." LaCroix said. "Great," Nick uttered happily. Nick took his things upstairs and put them away. He threw all his clothes into the laundry basket and put the camping gear in the closet. He made a quick stop to the bathroom one more time. He walked out and into the hallway. He strolled down the stairs and met up with LaCroix hanging up from Scott. He grabbed the phone dialing up the pizza place and ordered the food, then hung up. LaCroix carefully walked over to the fridge grabbing two beers and closed the door. He brought them to the couch handing one to Nick sitting down, and chilled waiting for the food. Nick reached over grabbing the remote and turned the television on. As Nick made himself comfortable on the couch, a knock came from the door. He stood up fishing through his pockets and found the money. He walked over opening the door, and took the food then handed the person the money. He closed the door and returned to the couch. He placed the box down grabbing a slice and sat back down on the couch. They both enjoyed the beer and Nick enjoyed the food. ***** Meanwhile back with Paul, he was lying on the cot and slowly awoke. He reached up rubbing his head, and slowly sat up with a headache. He struggled to look all around and saw a table with a small lamp on it, books, and a small bathroom off to the side. He looked up and saw a very small window at the edge of the ceiling. Suddenly, the door opened and two men walked in. One stood by the door; Philip pulled up the chair and faced Paul directly. Ray, at the door, had a gun aiming at his head. "Remember me?" Phil implied. Paul struggled with the pain, "The campground," "Where is it?" Phil asked. "Where's what?" Paul inquired. Philip just sighed and waved Ray over. He nodded his head and Ray punched Paul directly in the jaw. "Again?" Phil inquired. "I don't have it, my friend took it." Paul stuttered. "The girl?" Phil questioned. "No, Nick has it." Paul answered. "Very stupid, let's go." Phil said softly. The two men left and locked the door behind them. Paul struggled to wipe his face. "Nick, catch the clues." Paul whispered. ***** Back at Nick's home, he was just rising out of his cozy bed and headed for the bathroom. A flush sounded in the background then the water ran in the shower. He cleaned up and turned the water off. He stepped out and dried off. He wrapped the towel around his waist walking back to his room over to his dresser, and pulled out his work clothes. He tossed them onto the bed dropping the towel and began to get dressed. He walked out of the room and strutted down the stairs. He strolled into the kitchen and made the coffee. He stepped over to the phone and dialed up Forensics. "Forensics, Dr. Michaels," Kathy announced. "Kathy, Knight," Nick replied. "Nick, what's up?" Michaels asked. "I have a packet with a white powder in it. I need you to test it and tell me fast." Nick requested. "No problem," Kathy answered. "Thanks," Nick said. Nick hung up the phone stepping back into the kitchen and grabbed a mug then poured some coffee. He reached for an apple and his things from the table and left the place. Nick rode down the elevator and to his car. He quickly climbed in and turned the engine. He backed out and headed for Forensics. He saw an empty spot out front and carefully drove into it. He turned the engine off and stepped out. He ran up the stairs and walked into her lab. He saw her bent over the body quietly walking in and stood by her side. He lightly tapped her arm reaching over and turned the tape off. "Kathy," Nick whispered. "Hey," Kathy answered. Nick reached into his pocket carefully pulling out the packet, and placed it into her hand. "Here's the packet," Nick said handing it to her. Kathy examined it and looked to Nick, "Where did you find it?" "Up at Glen Rouge Campgrounds." Nick said sadly. "Vacation?" Michaels inquired. "Yeah, it was great. Here's my cell phone number, call me." Nick requested. "Sure thing, was it just you?" Michaels asked. "No, thanks," Nick whispered. Nick quickly turned around walking rather fast out of the lab and to the outside. He ran down the stairs and to his car. He climbed in and turned the engine on. He carefully drove away and headed for the station. Nick saw a free spot on the right side of the building. He pulled in and turned the engine off. He stepped out and locked the doors. He walked up the path and up the stairs. He entered the building and Reese caught a glimpse of his shadow. He stepped out of the office and waved Nick down. They met up at his desk and Nick quickly sat down. Reese pulled a chair over to join him. "How were the mountains?" Reese asked. "Great," Nick answered. "I got a tip yesterday, a big shipment came in over at the pier. Be on the lookout." Reese told him. "I found a small packet at the mountains, in the restroom." Nick said. "Is it drugs?" Reese asked. "Doc has it, she's running a test and she'll call." Nick expressed. "Good," Reese replied. "Anymore info on the shipment?" Nick asked. "Not much, two trucks picked it up and left the pier." Reese answered. "Witnesses?" Nick inquired. "Narc's, ask for a guy named, Allen Straton." Reese suggested. "Okay," Nick sighed. "Where's Paul?" Reese questioned. "He should have been here already." Nick looking around, "I'll call his place." "Okay, keep me posted." Reese said. "Sure, Cap," Nick replied. "Welcome back." Reese said softly. "Thanks," Nick whispered. Nick leaned over and grabbed his phone. He carefully dialed up Paul's place, but his machine came on. Nick left him a quick message, "Hey, man, you're late, hurry up," Nick turned his attention to the computer, and suddenly the phone rang, "Knight," "Hey, Nick," Michaels said. "What you got?" Nick asked. "Pure Crack, two hundred percent pure," Michaels told him. Nick inhaled, "How deadly?" "One shot, you're history." Michaels said stunned. Nick slightly angry, "Damn, put a file together and fax it over to Lisa; thanks." "Anytime," Michaels replied. No sooner did he hang up the phone; it rang again, "Knight," "Hi, busy?" Molly inquired. "Never for you." Nick said. "Is Wednesday night okay for dinner with my family?" Molly inquired. "I'll try, remember that packet?" Nick replied. "Yes," Molly replied. "It's pure Crack, the case is developing. I'll try to make it, remind me again." Nick said. "Okay, I'm at the Gallery." Molly told him. "Don't work too hard." Nick requested. "You too, love you," Molly said warmly. Nick grinned, "Love you," Nick hung up the phone and scanned for Paul. No sight of him so, before he left, he called Allen Straton. "Straton," Allen said. "Detective Knight, I need more information on that shipment." Nick required. "It was too big, but we are trying to trace it." Allen said. "It seems it made it to the Glen Rouge Campgrounds. My partner and I were there with the girls and we found a small packet. Doc tested it, its two hundred percent pure Crack. Highly deadly." Nick told him. "Damn, there were two trucks, and they went in two different directions. They gave us the slip and we lost them." Allen replied. Nick hesitated for a moment, "Let's meet for lunch. Meet me at Joe's Place in an hour. We need to join on this one." "Cool," Allen answered. "Thanks," Nick uttered softly Nick grabbed his pen and notebook, and put them in his pocket. He quickly popped into Reese's office. "Captain," Nick said. "What you got?" Reese asked. "I'm meeting Allen so we can work on this. Doc called, the packet had two hundred percent pure Crack." Nick informed him. "Oh, man," Reese said shaking his head. "Yeah, I know," Nick agreed. "Any word on your partner?" Reese asked. "I left him a message." Nick told him. "Okay, keep me posted." Reese requested. "Okay," Nick answered. Nick quickly turned and left his office. He strolled out of the building and outside. He walked down the stairs and headed for his car. He stepped in and closed the door. He turned the engine on and looked all around him. He backed out and headed for Joe's Place. He drove along the road and saw a free spot near a table. He carefully pulled in and parked the car. He turned the engine off and stepped out of the car. He stood on the sidewalk and saw a person at a table looking around. Nick slowly approached him, "Straton?" "Yeah, Knight?" Allen said extending his hand. "Yeah," Nick whispered. They shook hands and he offered Nick a seat. They sat together as the waiter came over and Nick waved 'No' to him. "It's Nick, how long have you been on this?" Nick asked. "Allen, about two months, but we're getting better in the deliveries. This was their second shipment." Allen told him. "Do you know where it goes from the pier?" Nick inquired. "No, we don't know how they're putting it out on the street or how they deliver it to the users." Allen explained, "We're working on that part. I have a guy undercover at the pier." "Think it's safe to look around?" Nick suggested. "I think so," Allen replied. "Let's go," Nick said eagerly. They stood up and left the table. They each headed for their own car and headed over to the pier. They met up at the parking lot and parked next to each other. They turned the engines off and climbed out. Nick placed his keys in his pocket and followed Allen to where the shipment came in. They examined every corner and every post. "Nothing," Allen whispered. "It was worth a try," Nick said. "I've got to head back, keep me posted." Allen requested. "Same here; thanks." Nick replied. Nick pulled out his cell phone and dialed up Reese. "Reese," Reese announced. "Knight, nothing here; any word from Paul?" Nick inquired. "No, and I'm worried about that." Reese said. "I'll drive by his place. Allen's teaming up with me on this one." Nick told him. "Good, let me know what you find." Reese requested. "Okay," Nick answered. Nick placed his phone into his pocket and left the docks. He walked back to the car and climbed in. He started the engine and headed for Paul's place. He arrived at the building complex where he lived. He carefully pulled into the parking lot and drove around to Paul's side. He saw the truck, but no Paul. He parked behind it and carefully stepped out. He leaned into the car and opened the glove box. He pulled out a pair of gloves and put them on. He looked all around the truck. All the camping gear was still in the truck. He stepped up to the driver side and the keys were still in the ignition. He pulled out his cell phone and dialed up Reese. "Reese," Reese said. "Hey, Cap, Paul's gone." Nick reported. "What do you mean gone?" Reese asked. "His truck is here; all the camping gear is still here, but no Paul. His keys are still here. I'll check his apartment." Nick informed him. "Be right there with the lab." Reese told him. "Okay, thanks." Nick replied. Nick hung up the phone and pulled the gloves off. He strolled up the path and headed for his place. Nick approached his front door and pulled out his keys. He looked for Paul's key and unlocked the door. He opened the door slowly reaching behind his back and took hold of his gun. He peeked around the corner of the door and scanned the room. No one was in sight so he entered the apartment and just looked around. He searched all the rooms and saw nothing had been touched since they left. He slowly left the apartment and made his way down the corridor. Nick ran into Reese coming in, "What you got?" "He never made it up here. He disappeared after he parked his truck." Nick said. "Are you sure?" Reese asked. "Yeah, all our stuff is still in the truck." Nick replied. "You have stuff in it?" Reese questioned. "Fishing gear," Nick answered. Reese rubbed his face in complete confusion, "Okay, what is going on here?" Nick leaned up against the wall and placed his hands in his pockets, "Two shipments of Crack; I found one at the campgrounds, and Paul overheard them talking and he bumps into one of them." Reese rubbed his chin, "Possible kidnap," "But they don't know he's a cop, yet." Nick said with slight fear. "What's next?" Reese inquired. "Don't tell Carla till we have to," Nick said. "Who she?" Reese asked. "His girlfriend," Nick answered. "Great, the lab boys are doing their thing. Let's head back to the station, get Allen in on it, and work out our next step." Reese requested. Reese and Nick slowly made their way out of the building, walking over to Paul's truck and the lab boys. They checked on their progress, and Nick had Reese follow him then they climbed into Nick's car. He turned the engine on, carefully pulling out of the parking lot and headed for the station. He pulled up front and parked the car. He turned the engine off and stepped out of the car. He ran up the stairs and headed for his desk. Nick sat down and Reese pulled a chair over to join him. He stretched over for his phone and dialed up Straton. "Straton," Allen said. "It's Nick, we have a situation." Nick informed him. "On my way." Allen replied. They hung up the phone at the same time, "Allen's on his way." "Good, gather up what you have and we'll meet in my office." Reese ordered. "Give me five to gather it up and I'll be right there." Nick suggested. Reese hesitated for a moment, "Five, no more." "Five." Nick said. Reese stood up putting the chair back strolling to his office, and waited for him and Allen. Nick grabbed all of his stuff placing it in a file and reached for the phone dialing up Doctor Michaels. "Forensics?" Kathy said. "Can you fax the results of that packet to me?" Nick requested. "No problem," Kathy said. "Thanks," Nick whispered. Nick hung up the phone, Lisa appeared with the fax. She smiled as he took it, and returned the smile. Allen strolled in and saw Nick. An officer pointed in his direction and Allen approached him. "Hey," Nick said. "Okay, let's do this. Anything new?" Allen asked. "Paul, my partner, is missing." Nick told him. "That's real bad. Can I use your phone?" Allen requested. "Sure," Nick said handing him the receiver. Allen stretched over and grabbed the phone. He dialed up the boss man, and explained the situation to him. Then Allen hung up the phone. "Well, that was the boss. He said I'm here until Paul is found and safe." Allen told Nick. "Great, we'll team up. Reese is waiting for us in his office. Let's go." Nick suggested. Nick grabbed the file and a pen and led Allen to Reese's office. Allen entered first and Nick followed closely behind, closing the door behind him. They each took a seat and waited for Reese's attention. "Allen, that was your boss; he said you'd be staying with us." Reese said. "Yeah, until Paul is found and safe." Nick said. "Okay, Allen, give us your story." Reese requested. "Okay, about a year ago, we caught wind of a new drug ring along the pier. So we sent a guy in; he disappeared. Never found. Did it again, we found them floating a month or two later. So far, so good, with our third guy. In that one year two shipments, and another one due at the end of the week. We've had zero luck on whom and where and how it's being delivered to the public." Allen briefed him. "Nick?" Reese requested. "While we were on vacation, Paul overheard two guys talking about a shipment. As he left the men's room, he bumped into one and we finished the day. The next day, I was in the men's room and found a small packet on the floor. When we got back, he went his way, and I went mine. I took the packet to the lab, and this is the result. Two hundred percent pure crack. Now, Paul is missing. He made it to the parking lot. His apartment is clean. That's all I remember right now." Nick explained. Reese finished writing everything down. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Lisa peeked her head, in handing a note to Reese. Then she left, closing the door. Reese gave the note his attention and displayed a disgusted look on his face. "Well, guys, start here. Car crash with a kid behind the wheel." Reese told them. "Let's go," Nick said. Reese handed the note to Nick; they quickly left his office and strolled out of the building. They ran for Nick's car and climbed in. He started the engine and pulled away from the curb. He quickly drove to the crash sight. Allen tossed the files into the back seat. Nick parked the car off to the side and stepped out. He locked the doors, and placed his keys into his pocket and slowly walked up to the officer then flashed their badges, carefully walking up to Jack who was standing guard over the crime scene. Jack handed them each a pair of gloves. They slowly walked in and were in shock at what they saw. The car totaled, the body was behind the wheel, and the car was still smoking from the fire. Two men on each side of the car carefully pulled the body out and laid him on the gurney that had a black body bag. They slowly zipped up the bag and waited for the next order. Allen went one side and Nick the other. They each examined the body and slowly met at the front of the car to check the engine next. Nick peeked around the corner and waved for Jack to join him. "Yes, sir," Jack responded. "What you got?" Nick asked. Jack pulled out his notebook and read the list to him, "No brakes, and about fifty feet of rubber." Jack reported. "I.D.?" Allen inquired. "His wallet is in a bag in the car. Ready for the lab." Jack said. "Get it," Nick requested. "Yes sir," Jack said. Jack left quickly running to the car and grabbed the wallet. "Hey Nick," Allen yelled. "Yeah," Nick said. "Look at this," Allen requested. Nick leaned in closer and with his glove; he lightly touched it and examined it. He carefully touched his tongue with it and looked to Allen. "Crack," Nick said. Allen looked over to the car and yelled to him, "Bring a bag with you." Jack leaned back into the car grabbing a bag and ran to Nick and Allen. "I want that container removed and sent to the lab. Full screen test," Allen ordered. Jack handed him the wallet and he wrote down what he said, "Got it," "What do you think?" Allen asked. "That container is covered. What if they are delivering it in cars?" Nick questioned. "Using kids," Allen uttered angrily. "Maybe," Nick replied. "But who?" Allen inquired. "That's the missing piece. Jack, send the whole car for testing." Nick requested. Jack suddenly seemed shocked, "The whole…?" "Yes." Nick said. "Okay," Jack replied hesitating. "What?" Nick asked. Jack hesitated answering, "Ryan will be upset," "Tough," Allen implied. "Got it," Jack said. "NOW!" Nick insisted. "Yes, sir," Jack said, swallowing hard. Tony slowly lifted his head up and reached over Nick's sleeve to draw his attention, "Sir, over here." "What you got?" Nick asked. Tony pointed to the brake cable, "The brake cable is new, and it has a serial number on it." "Write them down and tell Lisa to run it." Nick requested. "Yes, sir," Tony replied. Nick looked to Allen and signaled him to follow him, "Back to the car for a talk." "Lead the way." Allen said. They slowly walked back to Nick's car. They removed the gloves and climbed in. They tossed the gloves into the trash bucket. They sat kitty-corner to face each other. Nick pulled out the wallet and opened it. Nick cleared his throat, "Okay, the body. Female, Shelly Basso, twenty-one years old." "Twenty-one," Allen whispered. "Yeah, she had grease on her hands. Kathy will tell us the rest." Nick said. "Kathy your girlfriend?" Allen inquired. "No, her name is Molly. Doctor Michaels asked me to call her Kathy." Nick answered. "Okay," Allen whispered. "Okay, brakes were cut and the washer container appears to have a white powder substance in it." Nick said out loud. "Tony said it was a new cable on the brake with serial numbers written on it." Allen added. "Big guess here, they're delivering the drugs in the container and using kids to drive it." Nick suggested. "Kids because they're easy prey." Allen painfully agreed. "True," Nick whispered. They sat and thought about what they said then saw where it all would fit. "But who?" Allen questioned. "A mechanic," Nick suggested. "Why?" Allen asked. "The drugs were inside the container and new brake cable, freshly cut." Nick explained. "This will be harder then I thought." Allen sighed. Nick turned to face the steering wheel, "Paul is missing. I'll drop you off with the stuff and meet up with you at my desk later." "Where are you going?" Allen asked. "To see Molly; we're telling Carla together, tonight," Nick told him. "Let me know if I can help." Allen offered. "I will," Nick said. Nick searched for his keys and found them. He placed the key into the ignition and turned the engine on. Just before he backed out, Tony came running towards him. Allen saw him and touched Nick's arm to stop. "Sir, we found this in the passenger seat." Tony said, handing the item to Nick. Nick took the envelope and slowly opened it. He looked inside and his eyes filled with fear. He showed it to Allen. "A knife," Allen replied. "It's Paul's; he used it on the trip." Nick said, "Bag and tag it. Send it to the lab." "Yes, sir," Tony answered. "Why?" Allen asked. "They're sending a message." Nick responded. "Let's go," Allen suggested. Nick put the car in gear and drove him to the lab, "What's the message?" "They have him and stop looking." Nick said. Allen jumped out, running into the building as Nick continued to drive, and headed for the Gallery. He pulled into the parking lot and parked near the front. He walked up the path and into the building. He walked down the corridor to her office. He quietly stood just outside her door and she felt his eyes looking at her. She looked up and saw him standing there. She sensed something had happened, so she stood and walked out to him and looked into his eyes. Nick's eyes filled with sadness and slight fear. "What is it?" Molly asked. "Inside." Nick requested. Molly took him by the hand and led him into the office, "Come on." They slowly walked into her office and she closed the door behind her. Nick leaned up against the desk and she stood at his side to comfort him. "What is it?" Molly asked again. "Paul's missing," Nick said sadly. "Missing," Molly whispered. "Kidnapped," Nick replied. "Oh, honey, I'm sorry. What happened?" Molly inquired. "Remember that packet I found?" Nick implied. "Yes," Molly said. "It's pure Crack. Paul overheard them and he bumped into one of them." Nick told her. "He can identify them?" Molly inquired. "Yeah," Nick replied. Molly hesitated for the moment, "Carla, does she know?" "Not yet," Nick said. "We must tell her," Molly told him. "I know, can you call her, and make plans at your place and we'll tell her together?" Nick suggested. "No problem," Molly answered. "Thanks, Love, I need to go back to the station. Four o'clock or so?" Nick said. "Okay," Molly replied softly holding him. Molly stepped in front of him and held him tight. They gently kissed each other as Nick started to leave. He opened the door, walking down the corridor and outside. He jogged down the stairs and climbed into his car. He started the engine and suddenly his cell phone rang. Nick pulled it out of his pocket, "Knight," "Michaels; can you stop by my office?" Kathy requested. "On my way," Nick replied. Nick hung up the phone and peeled away from the curb. He drove down the road to the Forensics building and parked out front. He stepped out of the car and ran up the stairs. He quietly entered the lab and saw her leaning over the body. He grabbed a pair of gloves from the box and placed them in his hands. He strolled over to her side, and stood patiently waiting. Michaels glanced over and saw him there. "Nick, look here," she pointed to the back of the body's throat, and "It's all black and charred with yellowish infection all around it." "What's that?" Nick asked. "Burn in," Kathy answered. "What?" Nick asked slightly confused. Kathy stood up straight pulling her gloves off and looked to Nick, "This stuff is so pure, one sniff and it burns your throat like a five alarm fire. That's how the car crashed. She died before the crash, and Ryan ran tests on that item from the door." "Paul's pocket knife." Nick said. "There was blood on it. Did you touch it at all?" Michaels inquired. "No, he and maybe Carla," Nick answered. Kathy puzzled, "Carla?" "His girlfriend. Molly and I are telling her tonight." Nick said. "Who's Molly?" Kathy asked. Nick grinned slightly, "My special lady." "I see," Kathy sighed. "See what?" Nick questioned. "Nothing; I'll call you later." Kathy expressed slight disappointment. "Thanks," Nick whispered. Nick quickly walked out of the lab and headed for his car outside. He climbed into the car and started the engine. He carefully pulled away and headed for the station. Nick parked the car and climbed out. He locked the doors, placing the keys into his pocket and ran up the stairs then inside the building. As he strolled in, he saw Allen waiting for him at his desk. Allen stood to greet him, "You're late." "Doc called," Nick explained. "It's pure Crack and that's how Shelly died. She was dead before the crash." "Oh, man," Allen uttered angrily. "I agree, but sadly, we have a sad task to do." Nick said. "I know," Allen looked up and saw Nick was hesitating, "Paul's fine." "I hope so; let's go to the girl's house." Nick suggested. "Okay, lead the way." Allen said, extending his hand. Nick grabbed his things and led the way out of the building. They quickly ran down the stairs and over to Nick's car. They climbed in and he started the engine. He took a quick peek at the address and tossed the file into the rear of the car. He carefully pulled out and headed for the address of the girl. Allen just stared out the window. They slowly approached the house, Nick carefully pulling into the driveway and put the car in park. He turned the engine off and they slowly climbed out. They strolled up the path to the front door and Nick nervously rang the bell. A man approached the door and slowly opened it with a slight creak. "Yes," he said. "Mr. Basso, I'm Detective Knight, and this Allen Straton; FBI, may we come in?" Nick asked. "Sure," he said. Mr. Basso unlocked the door and let them pass by. He closed the door and followed them. They stood very quietly in the kitchen. David Basso pulled out a chair, and sat down and faced them. "Did you find Shelly?" David asked. "Yes, we did," Nick replied. "And…?" David inquired. "I'm sorry, sir; she died in a car crash this morning." Allen told him. David's eyes filled with tears and his heart full of sadness, "My little girl." Nick pulled out a chair and sat by his side, "Where's your wife?" David managed to relax, slightly, "She left about two months ago. I've been caring for Shelly since then." "I know this is difficult, but I need to ask you a few questions." Nick requested. "I'll try," David whimpered. "Was Shelly a drug user?" Nick questioned. "Yes, she started shortly after her mother left. We tried Rehabs but…" David paused sniffing his tears. "Okay, did she work anywhere?" Allen inquired. "Sanz Auto Body Shop, she answered the phones." David answered. "Would you mind if we looked in her room?" Nick requested. "No, go ahead; I'll wait here." David replied. Nick touched his forearm, "Thank you," Nick slowly stood up and led the way down the hall to the girl's room. They carefully entered and closed the door. Nick on one side and Allen the other. Nick pulled out his hanky and a pen, and poked at things. Like her jewelry box, papers and pulled out the drawers looking inside. He pulled out a small drawer which contained her under things and moved them around. He discovered a small box in the lower right corner. "Allen," Nick called out. "Coming," Allen replied. Nick carefully picked up the box, opening it and showed it to Allen. "Look," Nick suggested. Allen reached in and touched his tongue, "Crack," Nick closed the box putting it back, and closed the drawer, "Keep looking," They continued the search; Allen made his way over to her bed and sat down by the nightstand. He pulled out his hanky and pulled the drawer. He discovered a little black book and pulled it out. "Nick," Allen replied. "Yeah," Nick answered. "What's all that?" "Codes I guess," Allen guessing. "Okay, let's go." Nick requested. Allen placed the book into his pocket. They slowly left the room and rejoined David in the kitchen. As they entered the kitchen, they saw him sobbing in his hands. Nick returned to the chair, "David, did she have any friends?" "Not many, but she talked to a girl named Linda a few times on the phone. They would hang out a few times but nothing serious." David said. "Linda's last name?" Allen inquired. "I don't know," David whispered. Nick reached into his shirt pocket, pulling out a business card and placed it on the table, "If you think of anything else, please call me." "Sure," David said. "We're sorry about your daughter." Allen replied sadly. "Thanks," David sobbed slightly. "We'll let ourselves out." Nick told him. "Thanks," David said softly. "Let's go," Nick whispered. As they left the house walking down the steps, a woman came by them from the opposite direction. She gave them an odd look and she entered the house. Nick and Allen hesitated for a few moments just outside, and suddenly they heard a woman screaming in pain from inside the house. They slowly approached the car and climbed in. He started the engine and Nick paused for a moment. Allen took notice and turned to his direction. "What's up?" Allen asked. "Not sure, is there a Linda in that book?" Nick asked. "I'll look," Allen said. Allen slowly removed the book from his pocket, and flipped through the pages and saw nothing, "No, but in the list of places, the Raven is listed with three stars next to it." "Is there a picture of her in the file?" Nick inquired. Allen leaned behind him and grabbed the file. He opened the file and found a small picture of her. "Got it," Allen said. "Put it in the book and let's go see my cousin. He owns the Raven." Nick told him. "He does?" Allen said surprised. "Yeah," Nick whispered. Nick quickly backed out of the driveway putting the car in drive and headed for the Raven. Nick reached over turning the radio on, and the Knight Crawler came on and talked about friendship and Allen was drawn to his voice. Allen, stunned by the voice, "Who's that?" Nick grinned, "The Night Crawler, and my cousin." "Oh," Allen uttered. They listened very carefully and he drove to the Raven. He pulled up out front and parked the car. He turned the radio off and the engine. They climbed out of the car and he locked the doors. Nick led the way inside and Allen followed closely behind him. The place was very quiet and empty. It was too early for the club to be open. An urge came across LaCroix's senses and he finished his segment. "Have a seat; I'll be back." Nick suggested. "Cool," Allen said. Nick stepped into the back when a very sexy girl approached him with a seductive voice. She slowly stroked his arm and down the center of his chest. She was only wearing a black silk dress, and long flowing blonde hair, and deep brown eyes. "Hi," she said seductively. "I need to see LaCroix." Nick said. "He'll be up soon. Will I do?" She asked. Suddenly, Nick felt a little tired from her voice, "I'm not sure." As she ran her finger down his chest and rested it on his belt, "I'm sure I can help in more ways than you know." Nick's eyes became tired and closed, "I'm…" Her eyes turned green and her fangs shined from the candlelight. Just before she could feed, LaCroix appeared from the corner. "Don't even think about it." LaCroix insisted. "But…" she tried to argue. LaCroix snarled at her, "NOW." She quickly vanished and LaCroix touched Nick's arm to wake him up, "What brings you here so early?" "Who was that?" Nick asked. "A waitress," LaCroix answered. Nick smiled, "Possible girlfriend?" LaCroix sighed slightly, "Not likely," Nick smiled, but not LaCroix. "Nicholas?" "Sorry, there was a car crash and a girl died in it. She had the Raven written down in her black book. Here's her picture. Do you know her?" Nick questioned. LaCroix examined the picture and looked to him, "Oh yes, she's been here a few times with an older gentleman." "Can you describe him enough for our artist?" Nick suggested. "I believe so," LaCroix replied. "I'll bring him back later." Nick planned. "All right," LaCroix looked into his eyes, "Something else troubles you." "Paul's been kidnapped." Nick told him. "Oh dear," LaCroix gasped at the news. "Yeah, eight o'clock." Nick whispered. "Nine is better," LaCroix suggested. "Okay, see you at nine." Nick replied. Nick touched his forearm slowly leaving the back room and approached Allen at the bar. As he stood, Nick's cell phone rang. Nick reached into his pocket and pulled it out, "Knight," "Swing by," Kathy said. "Okay," Nick replied. Nick hung up the phone and placed it back into his pocket, "We need to stop at Forensics." "Let's roll," Allen said eagerly. They quickly walked towards the stairs, and left the club. They ran to the car and climbed in. Nick started the engine, and peeled away. He quickly drove to the Forensics Building, and parked the car out front. They walked up the stairs, and entered the lab. "Kathy," Nick said. "Nick, over here," Kathy suggested. "What you got?" Nick asked. "Look," Kathy requested. Michaels showed him the microscope and the slide that was on it. Nick walked over peeking into it and saw the blood sample. "What's that?" Nick asked. "A rare blood type OB negative. This person needs medicine to keep the blood from turning toxic." Kathy said. "The pharmacies would have it on file." Allen replied. "Yes, they would." Kathy said smiling. "The girl, Shelly?" Nick inquired. "She O.D'd, but someone made sure she would die in that crash. And the container was filled with Crack." Kathy told him. Nick stood up stretching his neck and leaned up against the gurney, "This drug can't get hot, or it turns into a liquid." "True, therefore, if you run the A/C plus fix it so it stays cool on the drug. You can deliver it in its rare form." Kathy replied. "Damn, Paul is in the middle of it." Nick said angrily. Nick took a quick peek at his watch and looked up, "I'm late," "I can walk from here, go ahead." Allen said. "Thanks, I owe you one." Nick said. "Beers later," Allen suggested. "Done, please put a file together." Nick requested. "Always," Allen said. Nick quickly left the building and ran down the stairs. He stepped over to his car and climbed in. He started the engine and peeled away from the curb. He pulled into the parking lot and drove slowly over to Molly's building. He saw an empty space near the door. He parked the car and turned the engine off. He stepped out and locked the doors. He ran up the path and opened the door. He walked down to Molly's front door and knocked. Molly answered the door wearing a sweat suit. "Hi," Nick whispered. "Hi, she's on her way." Molly replied. Molly stepped aside and Nick walked in. He tossed his jacket onto the chair and sat down on the couch to catch his breath. Molly sat down by his side, "What's wrong?" "This case is very disturbing." Nick sighed. "I'll get some coffee." Molly suggested. "Thanks," Nick said, exhaling. Nick rubbed his face from the stress while Molly walked into the kitchen and grabbed the pot and two mugs. She placed them on a tray and walked back to Nick. Molly placed the tray onto the table and poured the coffee. She handed one to him and sat down with hers. "Take a sip of coffee," Molly said insisting. "Okay," Nick sighed. Nick took a small sip of coffee and slowly swallowed it and exhaled completely, "Now, what's wrong?" "Paul's missing, a girl died this morning in a car crash from an O.D. of Crack, plus the brakes were cut. They found Paul's pocketknife taped to the door. It had blood on it, not his." Nick briefed her. Molly put her coffee down and took hold of his hand, "Oh, honey," "I miss him," Nick whispered. "I'm sure you do," Molly replied warmly. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and Molly looked to him, "You okay?" "I don't want to be alone." Nick replied gazing into her eyes. "Okay; I'll answer the door and bring her in." Molly said. "Thanks," Nick whispered. Molly slowly stood up strolling over to her door and opened the door. She saw Carla and they smiled. Molly stepped aside and let Carla pass by. "Hi, Carla," Molly said greeting her. "Hey," Carla said softly. "Nick's in the living room waiting for you." Molly told her. "Nick, what's wrong?" Carla asked Molly closed the door, and escorted Carla into the living room and showed her the couch. Carla sat down next to Nick and Molly sat in the chair by his side. "Nick, tell me straight." Carla requested. "Okay; Paul over heard two guys at the campgrounds." Nick said. "He told me, go on." Carla said. "The next day, I found a packet with Crack. Shortly after we all went home, Paul was taken from his truck and we don't know where." Nick told her. Carla sighed in disbelief, "Paul's been kidnapped?" "Yes," Nick whispered. Carla looked deep into his eyes and saw he was serious. Carla brought her hands to her face and softly cried for him. Molly stood and sat down behind her, holding her hand to comfort her. "I'm really sorry, but we were separated, did you stop anywhere?" Nick asked. Carla wiped her eyes and wiped her nose. "We stopped to get some gas and water for the radiator." "Where?" Nick questioned. "Sanz," Carla answered. "Okay, anything else?" Nick inquired. "He took me home, kissed me and helped me in with the stuff and then left." Carla said with tear-filled eyes. "Okay, let me know if you remember anything else." Nick said. "Find Paul," Carla pleaded. "I will," Nick said firmly. "Can I use your bathroom?" Carla asked. "Sure," Molly whispered Carla stood up and left the room. Molly moved closer to Nick to comfort him. "That's the garage the girl worked for." Nick said. "Nick, what now?" Molly inquired. "I need to meet with Allen, I'll call him first. Stay close to Carla. She'll need someone right now." Nick requested. "Of course, I'm here for you as well." Molly said to comfort him. "Thanks, can I use your phone?" Nick requested. "Anytime," Molly said warmly. "Thanks," Nick said kissing her soft cheek. Nick leaned over and kissed very passionately. He stood up strolling into the kitchen and grabbed the phone. He reached into his pocket looking at his number and placed it back. He dialed up Allen and waited for him to answer. "Straton," Allen announced. "It's Nick, where are you?" Nick asked. "Still at the lab with Kathy." Allen answered. "Anything else?" Nick inquired. "Personal," Allen said clearing his throat. "Cool; I'll be there in thirty and we need to go to the Raven." Nick replied. "I'll be waiting," Allen told him. "Great," Nick answered. Nick hung up quickly and dialed up the station. "Reese," Reese answered. "Knight, have Tony wait for me outside with his art stuff," Nick requested. "Okay, anything?" Reese asked. "In the morning, okay?" Nick suggested. "Early morning," Reese said firmly. "Done, thanks," Nick replied. Nick walked back to Molly and grabbed his jacket off the chair. He wrapped his arms completely around her. They squeezed each other tight. "I needed that," Nick said with a slight moan. "Come back when you're done, here's your key." Molly said. "Are you sure?" Nick asked. "Yes," Molly whispered warmly. "Thanks," Nick smiled. Nick reached into his pocket pulling out his keys and placed the key on the chain then put it back. He gently leaned over and kissed her ever so sweetly. Nick quietly left the room and her with Carla. He strolled down the hallway and outside. He walked up to his car and unlocked the doors. He climbed in and started the engine. He pulled out of the parking spot and headed for the station. He tooted the horn; Tony ran down and climbed into the back seat. Nick drove off and pulled up in front of the Forensics building. He tooted the horn and Allen jumped into the front seat. He quickly drove down the road to the Raven in the center of the city. He parked the car out front and they climbed out of the car. He locked the doors and led the way into the Raven. They stood at the hood of the car. "How did it go?" Allen asked. "Rough," Nick sighed. "Damn," Allen replied. "When I find him, he's nailed." Nick said angrily. "Cool down," Allen strongly suggested. "Trying," Nick said inhaling. Nick nodded his head for the two of them to follow him inside. Nick showed Tony where to set up. Allen scanned the room and saw LaCroix. He quietly strolled away and met up with him first. "See him; I'll bring him over." Allen said walking away. "Thanks," Nick sighed. Allen grabbed him by the arm, and slowed him down. "Hey, Nick's here with the artist." LaCroix looked down with his glare and told him to let go. "All right," Allen answered, "One thing," "That is?" LaCroix queried. "He's coming unglued," Allen expressed his concern. LaCroix, slightly puzzled, "Unglued?" "The case is getting personal; they send him things on Paul. In addition, a young girl died this morning, O.D. He had to tell Carla Paul's gone." Allen told him. "I see, after I do this picture, you ride home with Tony and I will talk with him later." LaCroix suggested. "Thanks," Allen said relieved. "You're welcome, are you a friend also?" LaCroix inquired. "Yeah," Allen answered proudly. LaCroix smiled, "Good, let's go." They quietly approached them and LaCroix stood by Nick's side. "Nicholas?" LaCroix whispered. Nick turned around and saw them standing there, "This is Tony, tell him what you remember, and he'll draw it." LaCroix stood by Tony as they drew the picture. Allen tapped his arm, "Tony and I will take the bus. You stay with your cousin a while." Allen suggested. "But…?" Nick started. "No buts, you need to chill; he'll help you." Allen said. Nick just lowered his head and leaned on the bar. Allen tilted back and waved three fingers to the bartender for three beers. He filled three frosty mugs and brought them down. Allen took one and placed one in front of Nick. He set the other one aside for Tony. LaCroix and Tony slowly approached them and Tony stood next to Allen and took his beer. LaCroix tapped Nick on his back, "Join me in the back room." "Okay, Allen and Tony thanks, later." Nick said. "Later," Allen replied smiling. "Reese at ten," Nick said. "The picture will be ready." Tony told him. "Nicholas," LaCroix said growing impatient. LaCroix escorted him into the back room and showed him to the couch. He closed the curtains for silence. Nick slowly sat down on the couch and had a strong grip on his beer mug. LaCroix took notice of this and sat down by his side. He carefully removed the mug from his hands and placed it on the table next to him. He gave Nick a chance to chill. Nick rubbed his face from the stress. "Nicholas," LaCroix said. "I'm worried about Paul." Nick uttered. LaCroix sighed, "That's understandable," "Kids are dying from a dangerous drug." Nick said. "Go on," LaCroix replied. "I'm in love with Molly; I should be happy, but I'm scared." Nick told him. LaCroix just snickered, "That's normal." "I don't remember much about my past." Nick said, slightly scared. LaCroix inhaled, "That was the side affect from your illness." "What did I have?" Nick asked. LaCroix saw no way out of this so he stood and faced Nick, "Let me place Scott in charge; we'll go home and talk." "I'll call Molly," Nick said. "All right, wait here." LaCroix insisted. "Okay," Nick whispered. LaCroix left to tell Scott what was happening, and Nick pulled his cell phone out of his pocket. "Nick?" Molly replied. "Yeah, LaCroix's taking me home; I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" Nick suggested. "Okay, you okay?" Molly inquired. Nick exhaled, "Yeah, love you." "Love you too, night," Molly whispered warmly. "Night," Nick sighed. As Nick placed the phone back in his pocket, LaCroix returned, "Let's go," Nick led the way to the front door with LaCroix closely behind him. He led the way to the car and climbed in. He started the engine pulling away, and drove home. He pulled into his spot and turned the engine off. They climbed out heading for the elevator and rode up to his loft. They entered the home and the door closed automatically behind them. Nick sat down on the couch while LaCroix strolled over to the fridge, and grabbed a beer then poured a glass of wine for himself. He joined Nick on the couch. He handed him the beer and they sat down then faced each other for a long conversation. "Where shall I start?" LaCroix inquired. "At the beginning," Nick said. LaCroix inhaled, "All right," LaCroix thought of the best life story that he could for him without the vampires. ***** Paul was still in the room, not looking well. His face had a huge cut above his left eye, a bloody lip, and a few bruises. He was lying down on the cot. Suddenly, the door opened and Philip walked in holding a gun straight at Paul's head. "How's the face?" Phil asked. "As bad as it looks." Paul replied. "Too bad, hand over the ring." Phil demanded. "Why?" Paul asked. "Don't make me take it off." Phil implied. Paul struggled with the ring pulling off with a slight cut to his knuckle and his blood covered the ring. Philip grabbed the ring and pushed him down onto the cot. "Ciao," Phil said tossing the ring. "I'm hungry," Paul replied. "Oh yeah," Phil said snapping his fingers. "Here, ciao," Paul rolled over grabbing the candy bar and ate it quickly. It was a little stale, but he was hungry. Philip opened the door and left Paul alone. Paul rolled over facing the wall and closed his eyes in sadness of missing everyone. Philip strolled over to John's office and tapped the door, "Here's the ring." "Larry's setting up the next run. He and Linda will do the next run." John said. "Why Larry?" Phil asked confused. "He's become a loose end." John told him. "Okay, where do you want the ring?" Phil inquired. "Tape it to the door like before." John answered. "Okay," Phil agreed. "Clean it before you do." John recommended. "Where's this run going?" Phil inquired. "The college on the other side of the city." John said firmly. "We should clean up there." Phil said grinning. "Oh yeah, all rich kids," John said inhaling. Phil, rubbing his hands together, "Cool," "Get going; this run starts at dawn before school starts." John suggested. "Done and gone," Phil said slightly laughing. Philip walked up to Larry and handed him the ring plus two needles, "What's that?" "The red one for the kid and the blue one for you." Phil said. "Why me?" Larry questioned. "It's only water; you have to make it look good. She takes the drug; you have a shot of water." Phil told him. "Okay," Larry reluctantly agreed. "Remember, she gets the red and you get the blue." Phil repeated. "Got it," Larry replied. "Finish up, Linda's waiting for you." Phil said. "Where is she?" Larry asked. "At the corner of twenty-three and thirty-four Street." Phil replied. "On my way," Larry said leaving. "Cool," Phil said relieved. Larry climbed into the car and made his way there. Philip entered John's office and tapped the window, "Done and gone," "Good job," John said. "No problem," Phil said waving his hand. "Let's get some brew and some Z's." John suggested. "What about the guy downstairs?" Phil inquired. "He'll live," John sighed. "Let's go," Phil replied. "Okay," John replied grinning. John closed down his office, and they slowly walked out. He locked the door strolling outside and left for beers, leaving Paul all alone in the dark in the small room. ***** LaCroix and Nick were still sitting on the couch finishing up Nick's life story, "I hope I helped you in some way." "You did, thank you." Nick said softly. "Paul?" LaCroix uttered his name. "Yeah," Nick whispered. "He'll return," LaCroix said eagerly. "Molly?" Nick queried. LaCroix scoffed slightly, "Love has always been a scary place. Sometimes deadly." "Really?" Nick inquired surprised. "Not for you, Nicholas," LaCroix replied assuring his son. "Are you sure?" Nick questioned. "Yes, time to rest. You have a long day tomorrow." LaCroix suggested. "Okay," Nick agreed. They stood up and walked over to the staircase. They slowly climbed upward and strolled into Nick's room. LaCroix stood in the doorway and Nick headed for the bathroom. A few moments passed, a flush, and walked out. He strolled over to the bed sitting down, and stared at the floor. LaCroix took slight concern for this. He strolled over and stood by his side. "What disturbs you the most, your vulnerability to Molly, or Paul gone?" LaCroix asked. "Paul's gone; I can talk to Molly, but Paul. It's like when Schanke died." Nick replied. "You remember?" LaCroix surprised. "Bits and pieces," Nick said. LaCroix inhaled, "What do you remember?" "Tracey and I were driving around, and an explosion in the air. We went to investigate, and Nat was there. I found his badge in the wreckage." Nick told him. "I see," LaCroix sighed. Nick looked up to his eyes, "You were there?" "I'm always with you, Nicholas." LaCroix said slightly laughing. "I'm glad," Nick said smiling. LaCroix hesitated for a moment, "I seem to recall a tattoo on the gentlemen's forearm." "Can you remember what it was?" Nick asked. "I believe it was a scorpion with a sword through it." LaCroix told him. Nick puzzled, "That's odd," "But easy to trace," Nick said, "Can you draw it?" "I'll draw it and leave it for you on the table by the couch." LaCroix said. "Thanks," Nick whispered. "My pleasure," LaCroix smiled. "Night, LaCroix," Nick said slight yawn. "Night, Nicholas," LaCroix replied in return. Nick laid back and drifted off to sleep. LaCroix quietly walked out of his room and strolled down the hallway. He swooped downstairs strolling into the kitchen and found the paper and pen left there. He carefully drew the tattoo for Nick to look for. He placed it on the table by the couch and swooped back upstairs. He stepped into Nick's room and saw he was asleep. He reached over and set his alarm clock for the morning. He strolled down entering his own room, and slowly closed the door to rest and avoid the sun. The hours had passed rather quickly. The sun shined through the blinds and across his bed and feet. Suddenly, the phone rang and gave him a jolt. Nick stretched over, grabbed the phone, and rubbed his eyes to see, "Knight," "Nick?" Molly said. "Oh, Molly, I'm sorry," Nick said feeling guilty. "It's okay," Molly replied warmly. "I need to see you, how about lunch?" Nick suggested. "My office, I'm a little busy today." Molly recommended. "Deal, call me if I run late." Nick said. "Okay, what's your agenda today?" Molly inquired. "I have a meet at the station and check on tattoo stores. Lunch with a very pretty lady." Nick said softly. "Thank you; I'll see you later, love you." Molly replied. "Love you too," Nick said grinning. Nick leaned over and hung up the phone. He sat up rubbing his face and the back of his neck to try to wake up. Nick slowly stood up and saw he slept in his clothes again. He strolled into the bathroom and closed the door half way; a few moments; a flush and he stepped around then started the shower. He stripped down and carefully stepped into the shower allowing the water to massage his achy muscles. He slowly washed his golden hair and turned the water off. He carefully stepped out of the shower reaching for his cozy towel, and slowly dried his body off. He wrapped the towel around his waist and strolled into his room and over to the dresser. He pulled out the drawers and pulled out some work clothes. He stepped over to the bed dropping the towel, and proceeded to get dressed. Nick walked over to the closet and picked out a beige shirt. He slipped into that, grabbing his things off the nightstand, and walked into the hallway. He strolled down the stairs, over to the table and saw the picture that he drew. He picked it up and placed it into his pocket. He walked over to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of juice and a banana off the counter. He stepped into the living room and sat down on the couch. He reached for the remote, turning the television on, and watched the news. Nick tilted back pulling out the picture, and stared at it. Suddenly, his phone rang again. He reached over his head and grabbed the phone. "Knight," Nick announced. "Nick, we got another one; twenty-four and fifty-First Street. Allen is there with Jack and Tony. How are you handling this?" Reese said. "Okay, so far," Nick answered. "Keep me posted," Reese requested. "Okay, I'm on my way," Nick replied. Nick hung up the phone and turned the television off. He slowly stood up and exited his loft. He rode the elevator down to his car. He climbed in and started the engine. He carefully backed out and headed for the address that Reese gave him. He approached the crime scene all taped off. He drove up to Jack and showed the badge. He drove in, and pulled off to the side and parked the car. Allen saw him, and ran towards him on the driver's side of the car. Allen squatted down facing him, and whispered softly, "We have two bodies and a totaled car." Nick stepped out and leaned against his door, "What you got?" "Two bodies, same situation on the car. Brakes cut and Crack on and in the washer container." Tony replied. "What else?" Nick asked. Allen raised his hand and opened it to show Nick, "This was taped to the door handle." Nick picked up the ring and examined it very closely. He turned and with the anger building in his body, he slammed his fist onto the roof of his car. "Nick?" Allen queried. "Paul's academy ring," Nick told him. "Damn, can you handle it?" Allen inquired. "Trying," Nick whispered. Nick placed the ring in his hand and walked over to the crash with Allen. Doctor Michaels was slowly finishing up her paperwork and the examination of the bodies. Nick stood by her side, "Kathy, what you got?" "Well, two males; one about thirty or so, and the other about fifteen, sixteen, or so; the rest I'll tell you later when I get them to the lab." Michaels informed him. "Great, please test this as well. But I need it back." Nick requested. Kathy took the ring and placed it into a plastic bag, "No problem," "Thanks," Nick replied. Nick looked into the engine and saw the same brake cable, "Jack, follow me," he said. "Write that serial number down; we can match them. Bag a sample of the powder." Just before Jack left, Nick grabbed his sleeve, "What's that? Go get the Doc." Jack ran and grabbed Kathy, "What's up?" "See that oil spot; get that and maybe that will open a door." Nick said. "Got it; Ryan, over here." Kathy yelled for the tech. "ASAP, everything," "Got it," Ryan answered. "Allen, let's go," Nick suggested. "Where?" Allen asked. "LaCroix remembered a tattoo on the guy." Nick told him. Allen stopped Nick and put his hand out, "Let's see it," Nick reached into his pocket pulling out the paper, and handed it to Allen, "I know where to start." "Let's go," Nick said eagerly They ran to Nick's car and climbed in. Nick started the engine, "Frank's place at Pier Six," Nick backed out of the crime scene and headed for the pier. Allen pointed to where the store was and Nick parked the car alongside. Allen led the way with Nick close behind. Allen slowly opened the door, the bell rang, and a scruffy looking guy came out from the back of the store. Tattoos all over, long hair, and pierced everywhere. "Frank," Allen said greeting him. "What the hell do you want?" Frank asked. "Frank, be nice; not in front of my friend here." Allen suggested. "Tough," Frank sighed. Allen tilted his head towards Nick, "Lock the door Nick; he's closed." "You can't do that." Frank yelled. Allen smiled wisely, "Yes I can; Nick." Nick turned slightly, and turned the lock on the door then placed the sign around. "Okay, Frank, here's a tattoo you specialize in. Tell me who's got it." Allen politely demanded. "I don't keep records." Frank hesitated. "Nick, call for the wagon; my man here needs a ride." Allen told him. "Okay," Frank said reluctantly. Nick reached for his cell phone in his pocket and held it where Frank could see it. Suddenly, he raised his hands up. "All right, back here," Frank said surrendering. Allen was all smiles, "That's better, keep it handy; lead the way, and don't jerk me around." "Here," Frank said handing him a paper. "Got a copy?" Allen asked. "Take that one," Frank replied. Allen reached over and tapped him on the back, "Thanks, friend," Allen reached into his pocket, and pulled out a fifty-dollar bill and tossed it to Frank for his trouble. "Thanks, man." Frank whispered. Allen grabbed him by the collar and pulled him carefully, "No one knows, got it?" "Got it," Frank said. "Let's go, Nick," Allen said grinning. As they approached his car, Nick's cell-phone rang. He stopped walking and pulled it out of his pocket. "Knight," Nick replied. "I need you at the lab." Kathy requested. "On my way," Nick said. "Well?" Allen inquired. "Forensics, let's go," Nick replied. They headed for his car and climbed in. He started the engine, pulling away from the pier and headed for the lab. Nick pulled up out front of the building and parked the car. He turned the engine off and they quickly climbed out. Allen led the way in and quietly entered the lab. "Kathy," Nick requested. "Allen. Hey, Nick, over here. Look." Kathy said. Dr. Michaels handed him a file, opening it and gave it a quick glance. "Both drugged." Nick read out loud. "Yeah, I ran the prints; we have Linda Gower, eighteen years old, and Raymond Walke, thirty-five years old. He has a record." Kathy informed them. "Can I keep this?" Nick asked. Kathy exhaled, "Sure," "Paul's ring?" Nick inquired. "Oh yeah; it was his blood. Guessing, his ring was pulled off too hard and it cut his finger." Kathy explained. "Can I have it?" Nick asked softly. "Sure," Kathy said smiling. Kathy walked over to her desk picking up the ring, and strolled back to Nick then handed him the ring, "The brake line matches Shelly's car and the washer container were filled with Crack. They're identical, except for the older guy." "We'll run it with our list and see what pops up." Nick suggested. "Cool; I'll call you if there's anything else." Kathy said. "Thanks," Nick whispered. Nick stood up straight and started to turn, but his cell phone rang, "Knight," "Time to meet," Reese insisted. "On our way," Nick said. "Boss?" Allen inquired. Allen smiled, "Later, Kathy." "Eight o'clock," Kathy said. "Cool," Allen said grinning. They quickly left the lab and headed outside. They strolled up to the car and climbed in. Before Nick started the engine, he turned towards Allen. Nick, surprised, "You're dating the Doc?" "Sure," Allen said grinning. "Whoa," Nick whispered. "We can play doctor later," Allen implied. Nick inhaled, "Enough." "Try it, its fun," Allen told him. Nick gave him that odd look and quickly started the engine. He pulled away from the curb and headed for the station down the road. Nick parked the car off to the left side and turned the engine off. They stepped out running up the stairs and inside the building. As they entered, they saw Reese waiting for them at Nick's desk. They slowly walked in and met him there. As they approached, Nick handed the file to Lisa. "Run these for comparison; I need it quick." Nick requested. "Okay, Nick," Lisa replied. Nick quickly caught up with them and sat in his chair. The other two pulled two chairs over to discuss the case. "Well?" Reese inquired. Nick leaned on his desk, "Both crashes are identical, except for the older guy in this case. All three were O.D. Both brake lines were from the same place. Both washer containers had Crack in them. It was Paul's ring and his blood on it." Nick said. "His cousin remembered a tattoo. I knew where it came from, and we got a list of the people who has it. Maybe a name will pop up." Allen explained. Reese hesitated for a few, "Sounds like they're screwing up. In most cases, they kill off all witnesses, and yet, he's still alive. They want something from him." "What?" Nick asked. "That's another piece," Reese mumbled. Lisa happily held the file firmly in her hands, turning and ran quickly to Nick then handed him the file. He took the file, and noticed her huge grin. "What is it?" Nick asked. "Look," Lisa said. Nick took the file and opened it. He read and reread it. He too smiled from ear to ear and stood to give her a quick kiss on her cheek. "Lisa, you're fantastic," Nick said smiling. "Thanks," Lisa said softly. "What is it?" Allen asked. "That guy, Raymond Walke," Nick stated. "Yeah," Allen sighed. "He and the two girls worked for Sanz." Nick told them. "Whoa," Allen said, stunned. "Something else," Nick said teasing. "What?" Allen asked. "That list you got?" Nick inquired. "Yeah," Allen said, growing nervous. "The owner of Sanz is on it." Nick said waving his fist. "All right," Allen said, waving his fist as well. "John Russell," Nick announced. They sat back slightly from the puzzle fitting. Suddenly, Tony came running over, all winded. "Excuse me," Tony said politely. "Yeah," Reese answered. "Both cars and brakes came from Sanz Auto Body Shop." Tony told them. "Thanks, Tony," Reese said. "Let's go," Nick said eagerly. Reese held up a hand to stop Nick, "You have names and a place, but nothing to link them to the drugs; relax. We want this done right." "True," Allen replied. "If they want something from him, he'll be fine." Reese expressed, "So far; now, go home and rest. Start in the morning." "But…?" Nick started. "GO HOME," Reese shouted. Reese stood up and walked away giving Nick the evil eye. Allen grabbed Nick by his forearm. "Come on, we both have dates. Let's chill and we'll start early, okay?" Allen suggested. Nick relaxed and sighed with a lot of anger, "Okay." "Nick, we'll get him back." Allen said firmly. "I know, I just…" Nick hesitated. "I understand, you miss him. You two are friends and partners, its cool." Allen replied. "Thanks," Nick whispered. "When he gets back, we'll hang at your place for beers." Allen planned. "Done," Nick agreed. "Let's get our ladies, see you in the morning." Allen said. "Later," Nick said waving. "Later," Allen said waving in return. Nick leaned up against his desk and pulled out his cell phone. "Hello?" Molly said. "Molly?" Nick whispered. "Are you all right?" Molly asked. "Yeah, I'm on my way." Nick told her. "Okay, they came here, so can you pick up some wine?" Molly suggested. "Sure," Nick said. "Love you," Molly said warmly. "Love you, too," Nick returned warmly. Nick hung up the cell phone and placed it back into his pocket. He gave his desk a quick glance then slowly walked out of the building and outside. He strolled down the stairs and walked over to his car. Nick stepped in and turned the engine on. He carefully backed out and headed for the liquor store down the street. He pulled up front and parked the car. Turned the engine off and ran inside. He grabbed a bottle of their favorite white wine and paid for it. He ran outside, climbed into his car starting the engine, and drove to Molly's place. He pulled into the parking lot and saw a space near the front door. He pulled in and turned the engine off. As Nick stepped out of the car, he saw Molly standing on the path waiting for him. He ran to her and embraced her tight. Molly returned the same hold to him, "I'm here." "I'm so glad," Nick said exhaling. Molly reached up; kissing him very passionately and Nick returned the kiss. "I thought you might need me alone, so I came down." Molly said. Nick took two steps back so he could see her eyes, "Thanks, I do." "What else?" Molly asked. "Another kid died today," Nick told her. "Like before?" Molly inquired. "Yeah," Nick whispered. "And?" Molly replied. "Paul's ring was taped to the door. His blood was on it." Nick told her. "Oh, honey, I'm sorry," Molly said sadly. "But, the puzzle is starting to fit." Nick said eagerly. "Good," Molly said calmly. "Reese thinks they want something. That's why he's still alive." Nick explained. "What do they want?" Molly asked. "I think it's me," Nick said. Molly's face filled with worry and her eyes started to water, "No." Nick held her, "Don't worry." "Why?" Molly asked. "I found the drugs. I opened the case." Nick answered. "Nick," Molly whispered. "It's okay, let's go, and let's see if mom likes me." Nick said. "All that matters is that I love you." Molly told him. "Love you, too," Nick said smiling. They slowly walked up the path and into the building. They strolled down to her apartment, opening the door. Nick closed it behind him. Nick took the wine into the kitchen then Molly led him into the living room. "Mom, Zack, this is Nicholas Knight. Nick, Valerie, and Zackery." Molly introduced everyone. "Hello," Nick said. "Hello, we heard a lot about you." Valerie said. "All good I hope," Nick said calmly. "Oh yes," Valerie replied. "Hi," Zack replied. "Hey," Nick returned the greeting. "Let's all sit down for some coffee, but first, I need to use the…" Nick hinted. "Go ahead; I'll get it." Molly said. "Thanks, long day." Nick replied. Nick quietly left the room strolling the small hallway and walked into the bathroom then closed the door. Molly stepped into the kitchen and got the coffee started. As she grabbed the mugs, Nick came in from around the corner. "Feel better?" Molly asked. "Much," Nick answered exhaling. "I'm glad; they can't stay for dinner, but they wanted to see you." Molly said. "Great, what did you tell them?" Nick asked shyly. "Everything," Molly said. Nick, stunned, "What?" "Not that," Molly said with a slight laugh. "Just kidding," Nick replied. "I know, you carry the pot and I'll grab the mugs and the tray." Molly suggested. "Let's go," Nick said exhaling. They carried the tray into the living room and set it up on the table. Valerie and Zack were on the couch while Nick was in the lounge chair and Molly served the coffee. Molly sat in a chair next to Nick. "Molly has talked about you a lot." Valerie told Nick. "Really?" Nick replied. "Yes, what was it you do again?" Valerie asked. "I'm a Detective on the police force." Nick answered. "That's quite the job; my husband was one." Valerie replied. "Molly mentioned it," Nick said. "What's your background?" Valerie inquired. "Background?" Nick asked, slightly puzzled. "English, Irish, etc." Valerie explained. "Oh, I was born in Swansea, Wales, tended schools in France and came here. Then I joined the police academy." Nick told her. "That's different," Valerie said. "So I'm told," Nick agreed. Zackery cleared his throat, "What are your intentions towards my sister?" "Zack," Molly said slightly embarrassed. "It's okay; I love your sister very much. We enjoy a lot of the same interests and each other's company. The future, I don't know. That depends on what we want or need then. But, I would never hurt her." Nick said. "Thanks," Zack replied. "You're welcome," Nick said calmly. Before the conversation continued, Nick's cell phone rang, "Excuse me," Nick slowly stood up, walking away to the hallway and pulled his phone out of his pocket, "Knight," "We found a truck abandoned off the highway. I called Allen. Meet him there, route 302." Reese ordered. "On my way," Nick replied. Nick placed the phone back into his pocket, walking back to Molly and her family. Molly saw his face and knew something was wrong. "What is it?" Molly asked. "They found the truck; I need to go." Nick said sadly. "Call me later," Molly said firmly. "Thanks; I will. I'm sorry, maybe we can do dinner next time you're here." Nick suggested. "I would love to do that." Valerie said. "Very nice meeting you, night," Nick said politely. "I'll walk you to the door." Molly told him. "Okay," Nick whispered. Molly stood up and took him by the hand. They slowly walked to the front door and she opened the door. They stepped into the hallway, and turned to face each other. "I'm sorry," Nick said, feeling guilty. "It's okay, is it Paul?" Molly inquired. "I don't know, how's Carla?" Nick replied. "She's coming tomorrow; she's holding." Molly told him. "Got to go," Nick said a little pressed for time. "Love you," "Love you, too," Molly said kissing him passionately. Nick gave her a very warm kiss and ran down the hallway to the front door of the building. He stepped outside walking quickly to his car and climbed in. He started the engine pulling out of the parking lot and headed for the highway where Reese told him. ***** As Nick approached the crime scene, he saw all the lights and officers everywhere. He pulled up flashing his badge and parked off to the side. He climbed out of the car and looked around. Nick approached the truck and saw Allen bent over looking into the engine. Nick strolled up to his side, and stood quietly watching. "What you got?" Nick asked. Allen peeked around, "Hey, Nick, not much. Come around to the other side." Nick carefully walked around to the passenger side of the truck while Allen was on the driver side, "What?" Allen used a pencil to point, "Look here, on the floor," Nick reached into his pocket, pulling out a pair of gloves and slipped them on. Nick reached down and touched it, "White powder," "Yeah and here," Allen said. "What's that?" Nick asked. Nick reached over and lightly touched it, "Fish line." "Paul," Allen whispered. "We went fishing at the camp." Nick told him. "Hold on to it; Doc's on her way." Allen suggested. Nick reached over, grabbing the fish line and held it firmly in his hand. Nick displayed a grin, "She didn't come with you?" "It didn't pan out." Allen said. "Sorry," Nick replied. "You?" Allen inquired. "Met her mother," Nick said. "That serious," Allen replied. "I guess so," Nick grinned. Allen smirked, "Don't forget to invite me." "To what?" Nick asked. "The wedding," Allen replied. "Not yet," Nick answered quickly. They continued the small talk while they poked around the truck. As they laughed while poking, Doctor Michaels approached and leaned on the truck next to Nick. "Hey, guys," Michaels said. "Kathy, got a bag?" Nick asked. "Yeah, what you got?" Kathy asked. "Fish line, okay, Allen; let's tear the truck apart." Nick suggested. "Allen, gloves," Kathy suggested. Allen placed the gloves on and they rubbed their hands together for luck. They each grabbed hold of the seat and pulled it forward. Behind it was a total wreck. Junk and papers stuffed everywhere. Nick saw some business cards, reached for one and turned it over to read. "Sanz Auto Body Shop," Nick read it to Allen. Allen pulled out some rope with bloodstains. Kathy handed a bag over and he tossed it in. "Guess what?" Allen said. "What?" Nick asked. "This gives us cause to go to Sanz." Allen told Nick. Nick thought for the moment, "True." "Morning," Allen said. A voice was heard from the side, "We got prints," Ryan yelled. Nick strolled over to him, "Put a file together," "No problem," Ryan said. "Give me a lift?" Allen requested. "Where?" Nick asked. "Home to sleep, you too; let's go," Allen replied strongly. Nick walked over to Doc, "Let me know what you find." "Right away," Kathy said. "Thanks," Nick replied. Nick waved Allen on and they walked towards his car. They peeled off the gloves tossing them into the trashcan next to the police car. They climbed into his car and he started the engine. Nick hesitated for the moment in deep thought. "What's wrong?" Allen asked. "Paul's place has a guard at the entrance. I didn't see him when this first started." Nick remembered. "I'll do that in the morning." Allen said. "Some pieces are still missing." Nick told him. "One hand, we have drugs, three dead, the truck, Paul missing, and on the other hand, a knife, a ring, and fish line." Allen read off. "Was Paul's truck ever dusted?" Nick asked. "I came in after that." Allen said. "Hold on," Nick requested. Nick jumped out of the car and ran to Ryan, "Ryan was Paul's truck dusted?" "I think so," Ryan answered. "Do a comparison," Nick ordered. "Done," Ryan said. Nick ran back to the car and climbed in. "Well?" Allen inquired. "They're going to do a composite. Before we go there, let's wait for that stuff. I want them nailed permanently." Nick said. "Got it; home James," Allen requested. "Funny," Nick said calmly. "Sorry," Allen replied. "Actually, my car is way back there." Allen said pointing behind him. "I'll drop you there." Nick said. Nick put the car in gear dropping him off at his car and Nick turned around then headed for home. Nick slowly pulled into his parking spot and turned the engine off. He climbed out of the car and locked the doors. He stepped into the elevator and rode up to his place. He opened the door and it closed automatically behind him. He strolled by the chair and tossed his jacket onto it. He slowly climbed the stairs and down the hallway to his room. He stumbled into the bathroom closing the door halfway and a few minutes later; a flush. He strolled over to the chair and sat down with his face buried in his hands. LaCroix heard the toilet and stepped into Nick's room. He saw him sitting in the chair all stressed out. He quietly walked in sitting on the edge of the bed and stared at him. "Nicholas?" LaCroix uttered. "Hey," Nick whispered. "What troubles you?" LaCroix asked. "I miss Paul; I've been avoiding Carla. The drugs and the guys are playing with me with the clues they leave behind. The stress is becoming overwhelming." Nick expressed. "Anything I can do?" LaCroix inquired. "No," Nick whispered. "I'm here," LaCroix sighed. Nick yawned, "That helps," "Do you need anything?" LaCroix asked. Nick looked into LaCroix's face, "Sleep," Nick slowly stood up stumbling over to the bed and laid down. He kicked the shoes off and closed his eye. LaCroix sensed the tension in his body, slowly approached him then lightly touched his forehead, and Nick drifted off into a deep sleep. LaCroix just looked upon him, "Night, Nicholas." ***** Back at the shop, John prepared the last run. Philip ran downstairs to check on Paul's condition. He carefully pulled out his gun and unlocked the door. He strolled over and saw Paul was out cold. He lightly touched his neck and still had a pulse, faintly. Paul's skin was pale, lips cracked from being dehydrated, and weak from the lack of food. Philip quietly left the room and left Paul to die. He strolled back upstairs to John's office. "Well?" John asked. "Looking bad," Phil answered. "Good, the last run is ready. Then we get paid and we're gone by Friday." John replied. "Cool," Phil agreed. "Okay, fill the container and prepare the two shots." John told him. Philip all smiles, "Already done." "Great, let's go," John suggested. They left his office and finished the last of the preparations for the last run. ****** Meanwhile, back at Nick's, he had enjoyed a very restful sleep. Suddenly, the phone rang, and woke him up with a slight jolt. He reached over and grabbed the phone. "Knight," Nick said, half asleep. "Hey, Nick, one more piece," Allen said. "Yeah," Nick said a little more alert. "Linda, Shelly's friend, they both worked for Sanz." Allen told him. "Linda did, too," Nick said very alert. "Yeah, I was with Linda's family last night." Allen said. "Thanks," Nick whispered. "What's your agenda today?" Allen asked. "Waiting on the lab then check out Sanz, and go see Carla." Nick replied. "See Carla first; she called." Allen expressed. "Okay," Nick answered. "Call me later," Allen suggested. "Okay," Nick replied. Nick hung up the phone and rolled back to wake up slowly. He turned and sat along the edge. He slowly stood off the bed and headed for the bathroom. He closed the door slightly, a few moments passed and a flush. He stepped around and turned the shower on. He stripped down stepping into the shower and stood under the water. The heat of the water massaged his muscles and rinsed out his golden hair. He reached down and turned the water off. He carefully stepped out of the shower and dried his entire body off. He wrapped the towel around his waist, walking into his room and over to his dresser. He pulled out work clothes and tossed them onto the bed. He moved over, and dropped the towel then began to get dressed. He walked into the hallway and down the stairs. He strolled over to the kitchen grabbing a juice and an apple. He walked over and sat down on the couch to relax. Suddenly the phone rang again. He stretched over grabbing the phone and placed it against his soft ear. "Knight," Nick replied. "Hi, Nick," Molly said softly. "Morning," Nick said grinning. "Carla's here," Molly told him. Nick exhaled, "On my way," Nick hung up the phone, grabbing his things off the table and quickly walked out of his loft then rode down the elevator and to his car. He climbed in starting the engine and backed out then headed for Molly's home. Nick approached the parking lot and carefully drove in. He saw a spot near the door and parked there. He slowly climbed out, locking the doors and walked up the path to the building. Nick strolled down the hallway and ran into Molly. They ran to each other and held on tight. They kissed each other very warmly. "Molly?" Nick whispered. "Nick?" Molly spoke softly. "I miss you," Nick told her. "Same here," Molly returned the gesture. They stepped away and gazed upon each other, "How's Carla?" "Frantic," Molly told him. "Let's go," Nick said with slight fear. "I've got coffee on," Molly said to calm him. Nick inhaled, "I need some," "You talk to Carla and I'll fix the coffee." Molly suggested. "Perfect, love you," Nick replied. "Love you too, let's go," Molly said in return. They slowly walked down to her apartment and entered. Molly closed the door behind them. Nick stepped into the living room and joined Carla on the couch. Molly walked into the kitchen to set up the coffee. Molly carried a tray with a pot and three mugs. She served the coffee sitting down in the lounge chair and observed Nick very closely. "Any word?" Carla asked. Nick cleared his throat and looked to Carla, "The past few days things have been crazy and sad. Everything points to one place, which Allen and I are going to. He'll be home soon. He's still alive. When he does come home, we'll celebrate." "I'm so scared," Carla told him shaking all over. Nick reached over, gently embracing and comforted her warmly. As he leaned back, his cell phone rang. He stood up, reaching into his pocket and pulled out his phone. "Excuse me," Nick said. Molly stepped over to watch him. "Knight," Nick took a few minutes to listen and hung up the phone. He placed the phone back into his pocket and leaned on the wall. He banged his head on the wall and Molly ran to him. "What is it?" Molly asked. Nick looked to her soft eyes, "Another car crash with a kid behind the wheel and another guy." "Oh, honey," Molly whispered. "Got to go," Nick said angrily. "Are they…?" Molly whispered. "The kid is, but the guy survived; barely," Nick told her. Suddenly, his phone rang again. Nick pulled the phone out, "Knight," he sighed. "On my way." "Nick?" Molly inquired. "I have to go to the hospital to question him." Nick told her. Nick dialed the phone, "LaCroix, Nick, meet me at the hospital emergency entrance; I need your help." "Want me to go?" Molly inquired. "You need to stay with Carla." Nick said softly. "Okay, call me, no matter what time." Molly said strongly. "Thanks," Nick whispered. They held and squeezed each other very tightly, and her kiss was filled with passion and warmth. "Got to go," Nick said sadly. They walked to the front door and he left Molly behind to care for Carla. He exited the building and headed for his car. He climbed in and started the engine. He backed out and headed for the hospital. Nick pulled into the parking lot, saw an empty space at the end and drove the car into it. He turned the engine off and climbed out. He locked the doors and turned around. Then saw LaCroix standing their waiting for him. "Nicholas?" LaCroix uttered. "Hi," Nick said sadly. "What can I do for you?" LaCroix asked. "Allen called; another crash, another kid dead, but the other person is alive; barely hanging. I think it's the guy you described." Nick told him. "I see," LaCroix replied, noticing Nick's tense body. "I need you to look at him and see." Nick requested, "Paul's running out of time, if he's the one…?" LaCroix waved his hand, "Shall we?" Nick stood close to him and walked into the hospital. Nick flashed his badge at the desk and showed him where the person was. "He's in a private room at the end of the hall." The nurse said. "Let's go," Nick said. Nick stepped in front, leading the way to the end of the hall and to the guy's room. As they entered, they saw him hooked up to a lot of wires and tubes. They quietly stepped in and LaCroix closed the door behind them. Nick stood on one side and LaCroix on the other. "LaCroix?" Nick uttered. LaCroix looked very closely and looked to Nick, "That's him." "Are you sure?" Nick asked. LaCroix exhaled, "Positive," Larry slowly opened his eyes and saw Nick, "Where am I?" "I'm Detective Knight; you've been in an accident. What's your name?" Nick questioned. "Larry Zina, I want my lawyer." Larry requested. "We could do this the hard way or the easy way." Nick replied. "No," Larry whispered. "The car had Crack all over it and the kid is dead. Drugs, murder, and kidnapping; lifetime unless we deal." Nick said angrily. "I got nothing to say." Larry told him. Nick leaned very close to his face, "Where's Paul?" "Don't know," Larry answered. LaCroix sensed the anger in his voice and his body. He walked over, and stood in front of Nick and faced Larry, eye-to-eye, "Easy." LaCroix glared into Larry's eye and his eyes turned green as he deeply hypnotized him, "John and Philip have delivered all the drugs and they plan to leave Friday." Larry informed Nick. Nick took two steps closer, "Where's Paul?" "In the spare room downstairs; they're planning to burn him in a fire Thursday night." Larry told him. Nick's face filled with horror, "Oh my, God." Nick reached over, grabbing the phone and quickly dialed Allen's cell phone. "Knight, get to Sanz; they're planning to burn it with Paul in it." Nick quickly hung up the phone and looked to LaCroix. "I got to go, can you get a ride?" "Yes, go get your friend." LaCroix said. "Thanks," Nick replied. Nick ran out of the room heading for his car and drove quickly to the garage to save Paul. LaCroix carefully examined the surroundings and Larry. He saw his vital signs were slowly fading. LaCroix stared at him, "Larry, a man who has poisoned our youth. There's only one just punishment for you; death." His eyes became a fiery red and his fangs shined from the lights in the room. He picked up Larry by the shirt, and jammed his fangs into his neck and drained him until the heartbeat stopped cold. As his heart became still, the alarm sounded off and he swooped through the window unnoticed. The doctors and nurses ran into the room with the guard seeing him lying there with his eyes wide open and very pale with blue lips. Nick drove quickly into the parking lot of the garage and saw small flames from behind the building. He jumped out of the car and ran to the door. He kicked it open and the smoke was very intense. He pulled out his hanky to cover his nose and mouth. He coughed from the smoke, yelling Paul's name. He walked carefully to the right of the building and saw some stairs that went down. He ran down the stairs and came to a door with a lock on it. He banged it with his shoulder. He took a few steps back and kicked the door open. It flew open and he stepped inside, seeing Paul lying on the cot not moving. He ran to him and placed a finger or two on his neck; he was barely alive. He very carefully lifted him up, tossed him onto his shoulder, and started to walk out of the room. As he approached the top, it was fully engulfed with flames. He stumbled to the front door and as he was about leave, the building exploded from the gasoline and fire. They were blown a few feet and landed on the grassy field. Nick staggered to sit down and saw his arm was bleeding. He wrapped his hanky around it and crawled over to Paul to see if he was hurt. He carefully rolled him over and saw he was okay. He sat down by his side, and waited for help to arrive. Suddenly, in the far distance he heard the sirens and horns. They quickly approached and parked. They pulled out all the hoses and doused the flames out. The police approached Nick and Paul to help them. Reese waved in the medics and LaCroix landed where no one could see him. He saw that Nick was hurt and quickly approached him. Two medics helped Paul, and the others helped Nick. They gently loaded Paul onto a gurney and wheeled him to the ambulance. Nick yelled out, "I'm riding with him," "Nicholas," LaCroix said. "I'm fine, got to go; would you please get Molly and Carla and come to the hospital." Nick requested. "All right," LaCroix said. "Let's go," Nick yelled. LaCroix helped Nick into the back of the ambulance and he sat down by Paul's head. The ambulance quickly pulled out and headed for the hospital. LaCroix swooped off to do what Nick had asked him to do. They quickly pulled into the parking lot and backed in up to the door. They quickly wheeled Paul off and Nick walked in closely behind. They escorted them to a room down the hall. Paul lay in the bed next to the window and Nick sat down on his staring at Paul. A few minutes later Allen parked Nick's car, and ran into the hospital, then found him in the room. Allen stood off to the side. A doctor and a couple of nurses came in and pulled the curtain so you could not see Paul anymore. Nick became a little uneasy, and Allen stepped up to him. "Don't worry man; they're taking good care of him." Allen said. "Yeah," Nick whispered. "How's the arm?" Allen asked. "It hurts," Nick answered. Allen exhaled, "They'll fix you up in no time." A pretty nurse came in, carrying a file, "Detective Nicholas Knight?" "Yeah," Nick replied. "Let's have a look," The nurse said. The nurse carefully unwrapped his arm and saw the wound. She leaned over to the tray, and picked up the wet towels, then gently cleaned the wound. She examined it very closely. Nick jumped slightly from her touch. "Pain?" The nurse inquired. "Yeah," Nick said sadly. "My name is Jill; we'll fix that next." Jill told him. "How's Paul?" Nick asked. "The doctor will be with you shortly; I'll be right back." Jill replied. "Thanks," Nick said scared. "Oh, when was your last tetanus shot?" Jill inquired. Nick hesitated for the moment, "I don't know," "I'll bring that as well." Jill told him. Jill quickly left the room. The doctor came from behind the curtain and faced Nick. "I'm Doctor Russell; are you Nicholas?" Doctor asked. "Nick, yes, how's Paul?" Nick questioned. "You are?" Doc inquired. "Friend and partner," Nick told him. "He's slightly dehydrated, a few bruises, minor cuts. We're keeping him overnight just for observation. Let's see what you got." Doc examined the arm and touched it slightly, "Not too bad. A few stitches and you'll be okay." Jill quietly entered the room and stood by the doctor's side. "Okay, let's numb the area first." Doc stuck the needle in and the arm tingled slightly, "Can you feel this?" "No," Nick answered. "Okay, now let's sew it up." Doc told him. Nick just watched and was amazed at what he was doing. Dr. Russell looked to Jill, "Bandage." Jill handed one to him and taped as he requested it. "Okay, keep it dry for a day or so; here's a prescription for the infection and this one is for the pain. Jill will give you two shots. You can see Paul, but not too long. He needs to rest." Doc explained. "Thanks," Nick whispered. The doctor left and Nick looked to Jill. She came around to the front of him and looked to him. "You ready?" Jill inquired. "I guess," Nick replied. Jill leaned over and gave one shot in his upper right arm and she just looked at him. "Thanks," Nick said. "You need this one as well." Jill expressed. "Okay," Nick replied. Jill just grinned, looking at him and spoke softly. Allen left laughing loudly. "Please stand up and I need your backside." Jill told him. "My what?" Nick queried, stunned. "You get this shot in your butt." Jill said. Nick felt a little shy, "But…?" "Don't worry; just the top part." Jill said to calm him. "Okay," Nick replied shyly. Nick carefully stood up loosening his belt and she pulled the pants down slightly then gave him the shot. He jumped a little and she left. Suddenly, the rest of his friends and LaCroix entered the room. Nick quietly moved the curtain so he could see Paul. Molly ran to him and held him very tight. "You okay?" Molly asked. "I'm fine, thanks, LaCroix." Nick replied. Carla walked over to Paul sitting down by his side reaching down and held his hand. Nick joined her and looked at his face. "Paul?" Carla whispered. Paul slowly opened his eyes, and saw Carla and Nick standing over him. "Nick?" Paul said softly. "Yeah," Nick said smiling. "Thanks," Paul whispered. Nick, grinning, "That's what friends are for." "Cool," Paul said. "I missed that," Nick laughed slightly. "You two visit for awhile. I'll see you in the morning." "Thanks again," Paul said. Nick squeezing his hand, "Anytime." "I'll see you at home; I must tell Scott you're well." LaCroix said. "Thanks," Nick whispered. "Are you sure you're okay?" Molly inquired, concerned. "Except for my backside, I'm great now." Nick told her. Molly snickers slightly, "Your what?" "A shot," Nick whispered. Molly inhaled, "OUCH," Nick paused, "That works." Molly looked deep into his blue eyes, "Can I fix it?" "Oh yeah," Nick said happily. "My place or yours," Molly suggested. Nick looked up and hesitated for the moment, "Surprise me," "Yours," Molly said eagerly. "Cool," Nick agreed. They laughed a little and slowly left the hospital. They walked out into the parking lot and over to his car. He handed her the keys, she helped him in and closed the door. She walked over to the driver's side and climbed in. Molly placed the key into the ignition and started the engine. Molly carefully backed out of the parking lot and headed for Nick's home. She carefully pulled into his spot and parked the car. She turned the engine off. Molly walked over and helped Nick out and into the elevator. They rode up to his place and he opened the door. The door closed automatically behind them. Molly tossed the keys onto the table and they slowly walked up stairs, then into his room. He stepped away and strolled into the bathroom and a few seconds passed with flush to follow. He came out and sat on the bed. Molly sat down by his side and looked to him, "What can I do for you?" "My back's a little sore." Nick told her. Molly smiled warmly, "Okay." Molly unbuttoned his shirt, slowly taking it off and laid him back on his stomach. She removed his shoes and sat by his side. Molly rubbed her hands together to make them warm and slowly massaged his back. She gently placed her hand under his belt and he jumped slightly. "Hey," Nick said in slight pain. Molly exhaled, "Sorry." Molly leaned back and sat over his legs. She carefully pulled the belt down and gave his butt a little kiss. He laughed slightly and rolled over to face her. "Thanks," Nick said laughing slightly. "Where else does it hurt?" Molly asked. Nick grinned, "Well, all over actually." "Okay, lay back and I will give you the full treatment." Molly told him. "Oh my," Nick said warmly. Molly started to strip down slowly and gave Nick the best medicine ever; her love and full affection.
