This is a quick one. I am working on a Valentine's Story that I want to get back to but this one just kept getting in the way. It came to me whenever I would listen to the song "On Cherry Beach" written and performed by David Keeley and Paul Gross. (an interesting side note for anyone who isn't familiar with these guys - David played Robert in 'The Human Factor') The song is from their album 'Love and Carnage' Disclaimer - The characters of Nick and Janette do not belong to me - I am just borrowing them for an ever so brief romp. Permission is given to archive at the current fanfic site and the ftp site. It will also be posted on my fiction site http://www.darksideoftheglass.com Questions, comments and angst-ridden blond vampires can be sent to nicholas_debrabant1228@yahoo.com This story takes place right after the episode "Crazy Love." Cherry Beach 01/01 Copyright January 2003 He landed silently at the lake shore and walked to where she stood at the water's edge, waiting. The chill of the cold rain did not affect either of them. Long dormant, the connection between the two was revived as they grew closer. Reflections of the sparkling city lights washed across the surface of the lake as the couple embraced. *On Cherry Beach at night, rain comin' down You're in the distance, a vision of light Ah, take me home, please, I'm cold I'm cold to the bone I'm cold to the heart of it But I can see the fires on a distant shore The burn in the night And the rain keeps falling but I'm on fire for you* He began to pull away from the embrace, but the strength of their bond held him to her. Sensing his confusion she whispered, "You are safe with me. You don't have to fight." Letting her words flow into him, he gave himself to her. The lights and sounds of the city faded away. The world consisted of just the two of them, alone in the darkness. *This is the face of the burning cross This is the age of need This is the sound of desire This is the song of you and me* Their eyes glinted gold in the darkness as the embrace became more passionate. Over the lake the velvet blackness of the sky was broken only by the white tail of a meteor streaking across the heavens. He arched his head back, his white fangs gleaming in the dim light. He growled then lunged and bit into the pulsing vein of her neck. She answered his growl with one of her own and sunk her teeth into his neck - completing the circle. When the initial blood lust was satiated, they gave themselves over to the images they shared across the link. *On Cherry Beach at night, I have a dream And in this dream the angels fall out of the sky They land on the shore, bury their parachutes They call you hunger They call you beautiful They can see the fires on a distant shore They burn in the night And the rain keeps falling but I'm on fire for you* When they finally ended the embrace, a roll of thunder crossed over the lake. His eyes glowed red and his skin was warm from the blood exchange. He could feel the power surging through his veins. It was an ancient strength he had denied himself for far too long. She drew close to him and caressed his cheek with her fingertips. "Do not worry, my love. You are safe with me." *On Cherry Beach at night the thunder rolls Rolls like a wave across the water It's a call to the wild But I feel no danger 'cause I'm on fire for you* He closed his eyes and felt her body against his. When he opened them a moment later, worry radiated from their clear blue depths. "I'm sorry to call you out like this." he said quietly. "Don't be. We all have needs. It is part of us... of what we are. You cannot deny yourself." she whispered back as she stroked his cheek. He wrapped her in his arms and pulled her closer, letting the truth in her words seep into him. *This is the face of the burning cross This is the age of need This is the sound of desire This is the song of you and me* ~fin~ Questions, comments and angst-ridden blond vampires can be sent to: nicholas_debrabant1228@yahoo.com ===== And there's no way ever to apologize, repent or make amends - No release and no redemption, the hunger never ends. http://debrabantfoundation.tripod.com/fiction.html http://www.darksideoftheglass.com
